I developed a fear of choking on food. Eating anything that's not pudding is stressful to me and takes way too long because I'm scared that I'll choke if I swallow. Sometimes I just spit out what's in my mouth into the toilet and continue trying. Yesterday, it took me two full hours to eat four slices of pizza.
I'll try seeking a therapist, have an appointment for next week, but I'm wondering if anyone has any advice for until then. I don't want to survive on yogurt for a week and I also have a social dinner planned before the appointment.
I developed the same problem as a kid, and it stayed with me into adulthood. I really feel bad for you OP because I know 1st hand how horrible it is.
Do seek help and stick it out. Meanwhile all I can say is don't be too hard on yourself - you're not the only one with this problem. Keep eating your pudding (maybe try porridge to get some fiber etc..)

Also I just want to add - if you can, skip the social dinner. The truth is you have an illness, and you can tell them you're unwell without explaining it. While it's bad advice to avoid things, I think you should make it easy on yourself until you're getting help.

Have you tried chewing more?
