So my dad was recently diagnosed with cancer apparently, we haven't spoken in 3 years, pretty much he left me and my mom for some slut and I always spent my life trying to grab his affection.
In the end of course it all fell apart when he ended up stealing money from me, which he didn't even need to steal because he owns a fucking carpentering firm.
Anyway he recently came by because he wants a relationship with me or some shit.
Should I even give him the time of day?

but set your expectations out of the relationship early.
My father is not a very good father, but he's not a bad man, so as a young adult i had to put some parameters on our relationship that removed some fatherly things, otherwise a relationship wouldn't work for long.
the fact is tho he is your father and unless you place absolutely zero value on him, there is never going to be another one that has the potential to understand the life experiences you shared already. No friend, no wife, no-one else.
