Should I learn violin or viola? I really don't know which one to choose.
>>
i prefer the violin sound

Whichever you can get a better deal on. However, if you plan on getting serious and joining an orchestra at some point in the future then viola players have an slightly easier time getting through auditions because it's under-represented in comparison to the violin despite the viola section being like half the size.

I honestly don't know which one I prefer, if anyone has any specific pieces that demonstrates both instruments capabilities, I'd appreciate it.

Not sure I'll do that, just a hobby of mine.

In the long run violin has a wider repertoire (especially solo before contemporary stuff). Viola has that awesome sweet alto sound. Violins are smaller and slightly more convenient, but if you're an italian mobster in the 70s then you can fit a tommy gun in a viola case

https://youtu.be/szMu8si_YYQ?t=202 this is a great piece with that really shows off the capabilities of both as solo instruments.

Now I really don't know, I love them both.

Most music stores do rentals on their instruments so there's nothing stopping you from trying both out for for a month before deciding. I don't know what the prices are like where you live but in the UK a full size used violin would be like £10 a month. Most places will just let you try the things in the store too

That's true, I may just do that, all though I'd rather just get at it and practice.
>>
hell yeah, do it. i would do viola because mellower sound, less cliche, plus alto clef is cool
>>
Whichever is easier to djent on, obviously
