How is a trespass notice sent if a store issued it? I was issued

Any help would be appreciated.

I attempted to steal a 3DS. They leave them all unlocked on Black Friday, and I was being stupid. I have learned from this experience, and will not do this again. However, how can they tell if I enter another Target again? Of course I won't go to the one I did the deed at, but how can they hold me accountable to this?

I was trying to do my research on trespass notices because I've never had this experience before.

There isn't really a way they would ever know if you go into a different target. But if you caused a issue then they would be able to find out. So it's best to just avoid the whole place.

I was only issued the trespass notice; I was not arrested or detained so I won't have a court date (I got really lucky). I haven't received a letter yet so I don't know if I truly owe anything.

Nobody watches the cameras 24/7, nobody will recognise you. Walk in, do your shit, nobody will be the wiser.

They caught me doing it in the act, and since I didn't actually leave the store I technically didn't "shoplift". In other words, I won't owe them anything. That's another reason why I got pretty lucky.

Most large retailers have LP on cameras from open to close. So yes, he could very likely be recognized if he goes back to that store.

I was walking in the large walkway/isle, when suddenly a cop and a lady manager/employee stopped me. The lady then asked if I needed any help, and I just told them no. She then proceeded to ask if I was hiding anything, and that she wanted to look inside my jacket. I then just confessed that I had something hidden and that I was making a stupid mistake for attempting to steal. I gave them the 3DS, and apologized. She then told me to follow them to the back room, and I complied the whole time (didn't raise my voice or fight back).

We then go into the backroom, I empty my pockets and took my jacket off. The lady then asked for my ID, to which I gave them. The officer saw my old ID as well, so he asked for that one to look at. The lady then wrote down my information, told me that since I didn't leave the store that I wasn't going to be charged (if I remember correctly), but she was going to give me a notice of trespass instead. I told her that was completely understandable, and then she said that I'm not allowed in any store in Indiana, then the cop said I was going to be in their national database. I also gave her my college address since I wasn't staying home for long. I then asked if I was going to be receiving anything, and she said a letter was going to be sent to both addresses (I was not sure if the letter was from target through regular mail or from a cop because it's a notice/warning). She then printed a separate trespass notice for me. We then leave the room and then I was escorted outside. As we were leaving, she said that I was extremely lucky that she was in a nice mood.

I did my research the past couple days, and I don't believe this incident will show on a background check (main worry since this was an ambiguous incident). I also didn't want two cops going to two different addresses, so I wasn't sure how that was being handled.

Ok it'll go through regular mail from Target. And it sounds like the police officer didn't do anything other than observe. So you're pretty lucky. With it being Black Friday they probably had police hanging around retailers for that reason. And since a cop was present when you got stopped it makes sense now.

I did get really lucky, but with the price of never entering Target anymore. Not a problem though, there are plenty of other superstores out there.

You'd know if you signed anything regarding having to pay. We had a document we had to read to the shoplifter which stated "you admit to shoplifting and understand that you will be required to pay back 3x the retail price of the stolen goods. If payment is not recieved this case will be transferred to the proper authorities".

So you're fine. I just hope you actually learned your lesson. Just about every person I stopped would cry and say "I'm so sorry I've never done this before, I'll never do it again." And either they were lying and have done it before, or we'd see them back in our store a few weeks later

I haven't really been myself the past month. I've been doing things that were out of the ordinary, and this topped it. I was scared out of mind when I was a hair close to being arrested or fined. I'm just so glad that I got a lucky break from this, and this was a HUGE wake up call.

I have learned my lesson, and once I get back to school I'm going to ask for help any way that I can. I'm just a semester from graduating, and I don't want to apply for my dream jobs with something on a record.

That's fair. I plan on not going to that target for a long time. Other Targets are debateable, but there usually isn't anything good there.
