Nah, it's the combination of frustration and sex being everywhere around you. In earlier times there no doubt were frustrated virgins as well, but at least the internet/media/friends' brag stories didn't make you feel like everyone and their kid brother were hitting the double digits.
Also before computers people used to hang out together a lot more and I think there was way less of a focus on appearance. If you complained to your friends about not getting laid they'd probably tell you to go to more parties, or let them introduce you to someone, or go for a girl you found less hot, work on your flirting... now you have countless people online telling you that because you are not 6'1 and sporting an 8" dick you might as well go kill yourself. Which has nothing to do with reality, countless people go out to hook up everywhere around the world and they can't all go home with the Johnny Depps.

Quite the opposite, in my experience. I'm a semi-pro photographer aged 38 so I come into contact with a lot of girls in their late teens and early 20s. They are, in general, very open about sex and many just don't see it as a big deal. What I've gleaned is that they like a man to be confident without being pushy or arrogant whereas today's guys are disproportionately whiny insecure men-boys.

as a result, instead of getting along with someone and growing closer til you are ready for sex, women go for the hottest guy they can. because men are tripping over each other to ask them out, they can be choosy about their partner, and of course will pick the best one in regards to looks, with other things factoring in only a little bit.

as a result, a lot of men aim even lower then they should, just cuz they want a better chance of getting laid, so women tend to 'reach' up for better men, leaving a lot of men left over.

another aspect is that a lot of the ugly men do not wish to settle. like at all. and neither do the women. they think 'wahts the point of having sex if they arent hot' and of course they cant land a hottie, so they keep trying to bang people hotter than them and never land one.

Not that Anon, but the OP was specifically asking about "10 or 20 years ago" and "this generation." That Anon was using his age to demonstrate a perspective that things haven't changed. He was in his 20s once, and now he's interacting with a new set of girls in their 20s.

Even if it's been 80/20 in both cases, the point is that the outlook hasn't changed negatively across those cases. That's the actual answer to OP's question.

As a man who has been driven insane from pussy thirst, I can agree that the lack of sex has fucked me up mentally. Obviously I'm not a very attractive man so save your insults. Anyway, I spend so much money on strippers because whores scare me to death but I still need that touch of a moderately attractive woman. I hate myself so fucking much so I can't possibly find the female equivalent of me attractive. It's a vicious cycle and its a cycle only I can break but choose not to.

With the explosion of the internet women can have their egos boosted 24/7 on various platforms and hugboxes. Theyre totally full of themselves and their image. Im not saying all but a good amount. They know they can just go and get all the attention they need with a picture or two in the right place. The obsession with celebrities and appearances as well. Pretty lame.

I would say that yes, getting laid has gotten harder. Women have more to look forward to than just being some guys baby making machine, and as I mentioned in another thread, guys have yet to be told that women have more to do with their lives than sit around and wait to be chosen to fire out kids until their vagoo breaks.
