Am I in the wrong here? My friends like to hangout with this guy that I don't like. I don't like him because he would always make fun of me in hs. I met him a year after hs and he was still an ass so I assume that he'll be this way forever.

I told my friend I feel left out and he says that he's always down to hangout but he rarely ever invites me and it seems that I have to setup everything every time.

Does this mean they prefer the other guy over me? Is it selfish of me to refuse to hangout if he's gonna be there?

It's not exactly selfish. But you put your friends in an awkward position by forcing a "him or me" ultimatum like that, and you'll have nobody but yourself to blame if it backfires.

My grandfather's on his deathbed and I'm on the other side of the state at college. Should I drop everything and try to be there when he goes? I can't stand waiting to hear news.

Only if doing so won't be that big a deal. If it would severely interrupt your college goals, don't.

I know it really really sucks but you have to endure this. Because there's the possibility that you would go there, and your granddad doesn't die while you're there and you have to go back.
>>
>>16855509
At least he would get the chance to say goodbye, even if he doesn't die and he has to go back.

The college will still be there when you return.

He's going away forever.

Someone put it to me this way once:
You'll never regret GOING.

Just be prepared to live with yourself if you don't.

I have a problem with not being able to value myself enough

My main defense against depression has always been thinking logically about everything, but now it is backfiring when I think that I'm a mediocre person.

On one hand I might feel like I'm wrong and that I have many good things about me, but then I wonder if that's just me thinking emotionally instead of rationally. I'm a person that knows and has and can do a lot of things but is not truly great at any of them. I'm like a jack of all trades, and thus I wonder if I'm actually worth shit in real life.

Not even my faith eases my worries because I'm neither a great person but neither I am bad enough to deserve any kind of special attention by God like being forgiven (you know, the last will be the firsts)

Everyone surrounding me is more interesting or has better profiles for accomplishment

I feel like a secondary character on a story that is not my own.

QUICK HOW DO YOU FLIRT WITH MEN

>>
>>16855475
Very bluntly. Guys don't get the subtle things.
>>
Twirl your hair when you talk to them and act feminine. Compliment them (relaxed though, nothing too huge) and ask what he's up to this week. Just be pleasant and if he's not picking up on any of that you can either:

Drop it because he's not interested

Ask him out straight up because maybe he's just a bit daft or has poor self esteem
>>
>>16855475
men are usually horny desperate lonely guys with sad sexual lives, flirting with them is easy if you are being direct

men
fucking
hate
roundabouts

be direct
please
for the love of fucking almighty god on heaven and his seven celestial spheres of seraphims, cherubs and thrones
be direct with what you want with them and don't assume that they'll catch any innuendo

Say a person likes to take pictures and they live in Seattle, but these pictures are of people in public, is doing so legal? These people are on public property such as playgrounds soo this guy isn't really doing anything illegal correct? Keep in mind doing this makes him feel happy when he's having a shitty day.
6 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
If you're a guy, taking pictures in playgrounds will get the police called on you. You can take pictures in more neutral places, but stay away from places where children gather. Actually, just dont take pictures of children at all.
>>
>>16855490
If the police do come you can't get in trouble you're not doing anything wrong ....like I said it makes this person feel happy if they've had a shitty day a university. He can't tell his friends or GF cause he knows they wouldn't understand.
>>
>>16855499
You don't have to pretend it isn't about you. It's not illegal but it will get you hassled, and if you cause trouble for the police they will get a warrant to search your devices for child pornography, particularly if you do this a lot.

You should consider taking pictures of something else, why kids in particular, man?

Seperate from sprouting.
You are going to need more soil coosh can surpas 2m if left long enough.
Usually look at around 4 month turnover if grown indoors.

I have the option to study mechanical engineering at the University of Illinois. What is this field like and what things should I know before I choose whether or not to enroll?
10 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
I don't work in the field, but I am an engineering student. Not sure if I'm going for chemical or nuclear, but my school axed it's nuclear program for an "Applied Math and Physics" program. I suspect internal fuckery was responsible as I seriously doubt that the cause was "insufficient funding for such a niche degree".

That said, it's a lot of math. Lots of chemistry and physics. I'm not that big on mechanical engineering, but I know that some people really like it.
>>
>>16855462
I took mechatronics engineering - half of my papers were mechanical papers and quite a few had a focus on design (mechanisms and overall design), which I enjoyed. Mechanics of materials (strength and analysis) was a real pain though, but that's only because I had a shitty bunch of lecturers for that course.

So my boyfriend and I have been together for close to 3 years. We've gone back and forth between having constant sex, and only have sex once every week or two (sometimes longer...). However lately I don't feel like he's feeling very attracted to me. I'm not that bad looking (honestly) and if I do say so myself I look pretty good in my slutty bras and panties. While he'll comment that I look great and I'm beautiful, it doesn't really go any further than that. I seriously just prance around our place in my bra and panties trying to get him to pay attention to me (stick his dick in me) but it's not working. Considering his seemingly lack of interest I don't want to throw myself at him just for him to awkwardly not be in the mood.

Any suggestions of inevitable ways to turn him on or bring back some "spice" into our relationship? As someone who would happily have sex daily this is getting rough for me.

You gotta talk it over with him family, explain how you want to be held down and soundly dicked.

Ruling out other women and pornography, there's some sort of self esteem issue at fault. Tread lightly, because if he thinks you feel bad, he's gonna feel bad more.

What's his health like? Are you noticably more attractive than he is?
>>
>>16855448

What book have you read that has helped you a lot or you think it can help a person a lot? Preferably, give a brief summary of what it teaches.

A lot of self improvement books out there are garbage so it's hard to find the quality stuff. The books that are usually good are the ones that don't peddle quick fixes and recognize the need to take the longer route to fix oneself, and the ones that cover the whys of the actions you do, like for instance why you are so lazy.

Here are some of the ones I read that I found very useful:
>Power of Habits by Charles Duhigg
It covers habit loops. How habits are formed, why they are formed and a number of examples of companies using habit psychology as a way to sell their products. It also goes into bad habits and how to change them.
This one is a must read.

>Willpower Instinct by Kelly Mcgonigal
Same as the above but for willpower, the hows and the whys. The difference to the above other than it being a different topic is that it's more practical, it's supposed to be taken as a 10 week course, with you being given willpower specific homework.
This is another must read.

>The Social Skills Guidebook by Chris Macleod
The above two books you can find for free on google, but this one is pretty underrated so you won't find anything. He does have a site called "Succeedsocially.com" where a lot of his information is free.

It covers socializing in general for socially awkward people. A guide to going from painfully awkward to a good and livable level. I wouldn't say this is a must read, but if you would rate your social skills as a 2-3/10, this one is pretty good.

> How to Stop Relying on Books Made Just to Make Money from Sad Saps by Me

You're a fucking tool dude.
>>
>>16855450
This, try reading books about people who have just lived lives.
>Meditiations by Marcus Aurelius
It's the diary of a Roman goddamned Emperor. He's smart as shit, super humble and truly in control of himself, and he's introspective about all of it.
The first "chapter" is basically him talking about everything he has that he's thankful for. Material possessions gets a single passing mention, and no mention is made of being thankful for being the emperor. Instead, he focuses on things like having been raised by a good, morally upright family who prepared him for adulthood, being taught by smart, honorable, humble mentors, and being friends with That One Guy, he's a good man, you should get to know him
>>
>>16855432
>Reading a completely generalised book written by someone who doesn't know you in hopes that it will help your personal problems that a specific you yourself.
It's a ridiculous concept that relies on most people not accepting that complex problems can have simple solutions.

The most effective self help comes from finding out what you want to achieve in life, getting out of your comfort zone to achieve it, and keeping good company.

I mean you know her better than we do. Pull your head out of your daydreams of her and objectively examine how you two interact

honestly you should be thinking more about the boogie man

I earn about $70,000 CAD per year pre-tax, this being my first job out of college. I owe about $25,000 in student loans, paying at prime (5%). I can claim the interest paid on this loan in my tax return as an expense in Ontario.
My post tax earnings we can say is approximately 45,000 (should be slightly more). I'm trying to figure out how much I should pay towards my student loans, how much I should contribute to specific investments, and if I should start maxing my employer's matching fund. They offer a 3% match on RRSP and 3% in company stocks.
I am paying $500 a month for my car, so $6,000 per year. With gas this comes up to about $650/month (slightly less).
I am a full-time employee, not on contract.
What specific investment vehicles should I pursue? Should I just gamble some money on the stock market? I have a TFSA account I've set up for trading.

So, my parents bought festival tickets where pic related will close the night, since we both like them, they bought me a ticket and invited me to go with them.
Now i regulary go out with my parents(2-3 times a year, not that much) which is great, might sound weird to alot of people who never do this kind of thing with their parents, but they are still young enough to party, atleast around here its normal(im 25 they are 45) ,since i moved out and to another city this is one of the ways we still see eachother regurarly ,but normally it is going somewhere where i know some friends of mine will be to,and involves being drunk or on drugs. But when i go to a festival i'm always completely sober, and this time i know no friends of me will be there.

So tl:dr how to survive a 12:00-00:00 party with your parents completely sober?

We broke up 4 weeks ago. I think it was a good thing, I was desperate and couldn't live without her. But now, she's fallen in love with my best friend of years. I've tried to have nothing change, but whenever we're together, he texts her constantly. He cares about her, and she's been through a lot of shit, but whenever he does, I can't stand it. I want my ex to talk to me, and tell her if I was really bad enough towards the end of the relationship that she doesn't want to speak to me ever again. Or, that we all become friends, and my best friend and her get together. He's a good guy.

I feel like I can't put our relationship behind me until I get pushed away entirely, or accepted back to some degree. I don't want her sex, I just want to talk. Then maybe sex, but meh. I don't love her anymore. If she pushes me away entirely, I feel like I can't be friends with my bro anymore. Yesterday, we hung out, and it was just painful to watch him text her every 20 seconds.

What should I do?
