Could you date/marry a girl with the same name as your mom?
I'm interested in a girl who has the same name as my mom and I'm trying to figure out how big of a deal it could end up being.
I usually call my mom mom or a shortened version of her name, but I still think I associate the long version with my mom.
I don't know... It seems like such a silly reason to not date someone or give someone a chance. If anything develops between us I'll probably need to start calling her by her middle name or a nickname.
It would definitely be weird. I remember pursuing some chick when I had the same first name as her shitty ex. I could tell it made her uncomfortable.
I'm not sure why that would be weird. Are names the only thing you define people by?
You're weird OP.
Okay so I'm 19, and in community college. I've only had one girlfriend ever, we did sexual stuff (oral and stuff like that) but never sex, so I'm still a virgin. Anyways I really need to learn how to talk to girls better. I'm not a fuckboy, and I hate hitting on girls, it just comes across so desperate, but at the same time I'm literally the worst at approaching girls. I usually stay away because I'm afraid that they'll think I'm a creep (I'm pretty overweight, around 230lb) and its pretty hard for me to be social. I've honestly gotten better at talking to people since High School, and can carry on normal conversation, but I honestly have no idea how the hell I should talk to girl to get her interested. Right now I have a few situations that might give me a chance to talk to some girls. I'm meeting up with a group of people from my Comm class for my group project and there's a girl I find pretty attractive (I think at the very least she's pretty comfortable around me), I'm joining a music club and there's really cute girl that kept smiling at me and I think she might find me attractive (I'm likely wrong though), and I might tag along with a buddy of mine (as the dedicated driver) to a party (he's pretty good with talking to girls and I could probably wing man). Anyways I want to know what's the best way to approach starting a conversation with a girl, I'm honestly not looking to hook up or anything, but it would be nice to have more female friends, or maybe a good relationship in the future (that being said if a girl wanted to hook up I wouldn't object). Idk any advice?

Don't feel the need to impress, just be relaxed and talk to a girl how you would with a guy. Sure initially you find these girls attractive, but you should just start off getting to know them as you would with guys.
But yeah, as a girl I find that when I talk to guys, we tend to have a broader range of conversation topics and it's really cool. With girls it usually circulates around social things and what they got up to with friends etc etc. Just be chill and talk to them like you would a friend. Some girls can be intimidating though if they just seem a bit pretentious or conceited, so just use your smarts and avoid those who give off those vibes haha. I avoid those girls desu just because I'd probably get bored of talking about social lives all the time hahaha
Good luck though!

Work out and lose weight. Do an hour of cardio a day and stop eating processed food.
Thanks! I really agree on the broader conversation thing, that's one of the big reason I'd really like to be better at talking to girls. I mean it sucks being single and all at times, but I really would just enjoy having a girl to talk to as friend. I've found in the past that it's a lot easier to talk about more personal stuff with a girl more so than a guy.

I literally don't understand marriage like how do you look at someone and think "hey yeah you irritate me so little that I'm willing to spend money on a ring, pretend our relationship probably won't dissolve in the next ten years, and maybe entertain the thought of seeing you every day until one of us drops dead" like what the fuck I've never dated a girl I could stand spending three days in a row with let alone this bullshit.

Kek, then don't get married. It's as simple as that.
if you don't want to get married, don't. No one's making you. There is no point to this thread.
Then you aren't ready for marriage. The point is that you need to have a relazionship where you can't think of anything more beautiful than growing old with them and sharing most of your days with them. Having the desire to create a mini version of you and the person you love might also play into it. Many people get married because of the wrong reasons. Status, just because, security, to have a wedding, to piss off parents, to have kids, because of social stigma, and so on. Thisnis bullshit and will end badly, making everybody miserable. Getting married solely because you WANT. to promise your partner in every possible way that he/she is so important that you are willing to work things outninsteadnof splitting up when you hit a rough patch. Basically, it's just saying this: i love you. I might not always love all the things you do or say but i will never stop loving you. If we argue i won't forget that and we will find a solution together. Marriage is by no means necessary, but at some point you want to shout that message out to the whole world. A wedding, a ring and having a family are WAYS to show how much you love each other.
Question for anyone in their late 20s/early 30s and haven't been in a relationship in a long time or ever - do you feel like you missed out on something?
I'm currently 25 and going to enter a high paying but highly stressful and intensive field in the near future. From what others have told me, unless you are already in a relationship or married when you start, you have little chance of finding anyone later on. Even if I had the social skills to start or maintain a relationship, my career would prevent me from doing so. I'm wondering if there's a social stigma around middle aged people who don't have any relationship prospects.
>do you feel like you missed out on something?
Short answer: No. I'm concerned with what's ahead of me. I can't change the past so it does not bother me in the least.
>If i can't affect it - It does not concern me
Learned that from reading about Stoicism.
I cannot say for sure but im 25 too and everyone i work eith is 23-32 and none of them are in a relatiinship (including myself) and noone has a problem with it. Though all the women are in a relationship. Odd now that i think about it
>>16902588
Why is it that all women seem to be in relationships but not a lot of men are? Is the "20% of men" thing actually true?
So, my current gf confessed me last night she has been with a black guy before me. A black guy i also happen to know, he works as a pilot (so not exactly a trashy hood rat), 5 years older than she is, bald and a big guy. Can't believe i even met that guy during a masked party one month ago, and he seemed so cool and friendly, like he totally didn't bang my girlfriend just 6 months before
I mean, i know it shouldn't be a problem and whatnot, but i just can't wrap my mind about it, and i can't get why she hid such a thing to me. Ofc, we had a big argument about it, things got heated fast, told her to get out of my house, she stormed out and now we are in this sort of "not together" limbo. For now. No phone calls from her so far, no messages, nothing. Just her bald cousin calling me more or less one hr ago to tell me that i am a "Little racist white guy" and yelling various obscenities regarding penis size. I hung up on him after less than 15 seconds btw. I am literally paralyzed, i don't wanna lose her, but now it's obvious we have a trust issue. The whole thing is extremely painful for me since i always expect a lot of loyalty from my relationships.
>Tl;dr: Current gf dated a black guy before me. I love her so much but i don't know if i can keep her after what she has done. Wat do?
>>16902549
What is exactly the issue?
She dated someone else before dating you, and this guy was black.
Did she cheat on you? Did she lie to you?
>>16902556
>and this guy was black.
Not the point. She didn't tell me anything about it, while she was very open about her first ex (white). Maybe he had some stds or a criminal record?
You don't deserve her. You are acting completely irrational. How does your GF's previous BF matter to you in any way? Even less, how does his race matter? Maybe you swallowed /pol/s retarded propaganda? Either way just leave her alone, she's much better off without you.
Can you guys offer me some career and life advice? I am 25 years old.
>had cancer in my pelvis
>disfigured and crippled
>dick doesn't work, so can't even have sex even if there was someone sick enough to want to fuck someone as messed up as myself
>no social skills because I was ostracized or ridiculed by everyone around me growing up...
>no friends
>useless college degree (history and political science), I originally intended to go to law school, but my lack of sociability meant no extra-curricular stuff, no faculty friends/recommendations, etc...
>got very good grades at least
>no work experience
>in high school places showed me the door when I showed up in a wheelchair, said they had nothing available I could do
>every place requires experience, even "entry level" places
>can't work in fast food
>can't work in manual labor
>can't work in retail because people don't want to buy stuff from a disfigured crippled introverted weirdo, plus I simply don't have the communication skills to make it work even if people didn't judge
I just want to get a job somewhere, but I can't even get an interview... My resume is literally just "went to school and did well"... There is nothing else I can put in there. I can't even volunteer in my area because all the places accepting volunteers want role models and stuff and I am the antitheses of what a person should aspire to be.
All of this is on top of the fact that I have no transportation and live in the suburbs where there is no public transit.
I am willing to do anything so long as it is full time so I can buy health insurance, which I lose in a few months when I turn 26.
Where should I look for work? Right now I just go down job boards and apply to literally everything that doesn't require experience or a driver's license (which I don't have) and isn't manual labor. I have been offered no interviews from anyone anywhere.
Thank you.
Disabled female here.
Start your own business watching dogs at your house. With your background you could do technical writing. Or move to Canada you get easy hired for governemy job they get paid to hire people with disabilities. Just because you do not fit in the world you were isolated from does not mean you have no future. Being a sheep is gay as fuck you and I my friend are wolves who think outside of the box. Our isolation has provided us the ability to make a change in the world whatever you feel it may be. So sharpen your claws my friend.
If you are legitimatel handicapped, you should contact the appropriate charity or government office for job training. They'll figure out what you CAN do and try to get you to work doing it.
You can also get health insurance through medicaid since you're unable to work, that assumes you live in a non-shit tier state that didn't refuse the free money for medicaid expansion because Obama proposed it, though.

As a 29 year old friendless woman, what things can I go out and do on my own.
I usually drown myself with work but I was forced to take some of my leave and I don't know what I can do.

I like to knit and bird watch birds are cool.
Do you like videogame? If so want to play black desert with me? I have not had a female friend in 10 years. Females make no sense to me I do not know how to interact with them in real life they like the bachelor and drama. I just nod my head at them when they talk.

anyone know any good places to meet people?

please help ;__;
take a class, in anything. These are great because they give you an excuse to meet strange people and interact with them. Stop for a moment and think about the kind of people you want to meet.
If you want to meet someone who is physically active, find entry level sport lessons such as rock climbing classes, bicycle groups, etc.
If you want to meet someone artsy, maybe art lessons, photography, that kind of stuff.
Someone more studious and focused on discussion? You could tutor ESL students, bookclubs, etc.
If you just want to go out and meet strangers about anything, find the nearest happy hour gathering on meet up.com or cooking lessons, dance lessons, etc.

All sorts. Toilet brush handles seem to be a popular choice, despite the infection control risks.
Perforation isn't hugely uncommon.
A few days ago I was visisitng my therapist and I opened up to him about something, which he responded to by saying I'm disgusting and a loser. I was kinda abrupt but I still go back to him. He gives me hugs, buys me food and other stuff and he's kinda like the dad I never had. I'm not sure how to feel about him calling me that though . Has anyone ever had their therapist call them that ?
Whoa, OP! There are numerous problems with what you describe.
1) no, your therapist should not call you disgusting or a loser
2) your therapist is not a replacement relationship (dad, mom, sibling, etc)
3) your therapist should not be buying you food, etc.
Please report your therapist and get a new one!
>>16901380
Well when he called me a loser he was right to . Also it makes me feel good when he hugs me or brings me food.
He is going to try to fuck you.

How do credit cards work?
I have 28k saved up. need to be an adult and start building credit.
do credit cards cost Anything, assuming I don't miss a payment?
id like to travel once a year.. should I get some kind of rewards card?
>>16900898
anyone?
>>16900898
rewards are pointless. Credit cards don't charge unless you make a late payment, however you have to pay the whole balance off in the time allotted, not the minimum balance. Credit cards make money by charging people who accept them a couple extra % on the transaction so you are paying the companies just by using them.
>>16900960
so.. I actually will be losing money just by using it?
I'll be graduating with a math degree soon and I've come to learn that computer knowledge makes one highly marketable. I plan on learning Matlab over the next few months. Any tips or other programs I should learn?

Stupid fucking fake ass gif, fuck that fake shit.
I'm also interested in this. Also, how much math knowledge I need in order to learn something like jawa or C++?
Where should I start if I had no interactions with programming thus far? Just start learning a programming language?
