So I met a guy online, we texted for about a week and met this weekend. He looks 70% like his pictures online, which is fine and somewhat to be expected. Good looking enough and we got along well.

Only problem is that his current haircut is fucking awful. It lowers his looks from a 7 to about a 5. I don't want to bring it up right away but I also have a harder time finding him attractive now...

Initially was going to post this on /sci/ but realised they would tell me to go to /adv/.
The problem: When ever I'm trying to read, study concentrate on a topic or sleep I tend to loose focus and run over hypothetical scenarios in my mind or begin to ponder non-related topics. Once I begin to think about these topics my mind seems to be locked onto the topic and won't stop thinking about it no matter how I try to distract myself from it. Many of these "what if" scenarios might include topics such as; What if I was arrested for a crime and went to court how would I defend myself (even though I haven't done anything or don't plan to), what if this person died, how would I react, what if I was studying this instead of what I'm doing and more. These thought can distract me for hours and takes away from my day.
Perhaps there's some subconscious part of my mind that worries about this as some sort of survival instinct or what ever. Dunno
Spoken to a councilor about this but they said it's normal to an extent and suggested I try some different things to keep my mind off it.
So I tried different kinds of music and it sometimes works for maybe an hour which allows me to get some work done but then I generally start thinking about the music itself and become distracted (themes, instruments, etc).
I exercise, which works while I'm exercising but generally I go back to pondering useless things afterwards.

I drink a lot sometimes to stop this as I can sit and actually enjoy things without thinking.
I honestly don't think this sort of behavior is healthy and affects my grades and my social relationships (I tend to be a cunt when someone doesn't know something I know without meaning to).
Perhaps its autism. who knows.

In short I have concentration issues.
Like I should be reading a book right now but I just can't concentrate due to thinking about not concentrating and the reasons for not concentrating.

What do?

Hey /adv/,

So I was out at the bar on 8/8 with some good friends, and after while we were walking in and out of shops, I started talking to a 8-9/10 girl we met and it was going well and she seemed interested. She actually ended up giving me her number before I asked, and she texted me her name on the spot so I knew it wasn't fake. We parted ways and the next day at about 10pm or so I texted her just saying "hey, it's anon, it was really nice meeting you last night".

Then she never texted me back. Still haven't heard from her and haven't texted her since. I'm usually not too broken up by this sort of thing but she seemed really cool and fun. What do you think I should do? Move on, or reach out to her again?

I have had tinnitus for around two years now. I managed to get by really fine until now.

The overall sounds in my head have grown much louder and now I cant properly sleep at night. Working and reading is also extremely hard.

I am training four times a week and I am using calm acoustic music(not on earplugs) to help when I am studying. But the fucking sounds keep getting louder.

Am I stupid for switching out of something I find boring but will get me a job(mech engineering at a top school) for something I find more interesting but a longer path (ER nurse --> ER physician assistant)

I never really had a solid plan taking classes at the Junior College, I just took math and science classes and decided it was time for me to leave finally this year...then I realized how much I would despise this path.

I'm 22, have started college and have absolutely no money, with student loans from government (Canada) I still need an additional 15k to finish it (About to start 2nd year next week) I applied for bank student loans and lines of credit and the maximum I could get without a co-signer was 6k. I live with my mom and using her as a cosigner I can't get anything at all because she has a shit credit history, I worked this summer but after the first two weeks my tendinitis got so bad that I only made about 2k that I used to pay some bills and help my mom around the house, at some point I considered asking one of my mom's friends to co-sign for me but I think that it's too much to ask someone that isn't my family.

Any advice on how to afford school seeing that military isn't an option for me (permanent resident).

I feel like I'm wasting my time. I have a job, but I don't have other things yet like a driver's license. I'm 20, about to turn 21. I feel like I'm wasting my time that's outside of work and that I should be doing something constructive/creative like make a video game since I'm into computers, trouble is, I don't really know how to program at all or where to start. I'm decent at other creative things like drawing and painting but I feel like I'm wasting my time when I do that kind of stuff.

On top of this stuff, I also have dentist bills.

I don't want my life to become like a stereotypical neet. What should I do to further my goals?

My goals are:

-learn a trade or two, specifically in business/finance/marketting
-find a religion that spiritually suits me
- do something creative that will innovate and inspire others.

Is it okay to have sex with a married co-worker?
She has a couple of very young kids, but seems very slutty, even though she loves her husband. Yesterday she asked if i was a virgin fag, and we're very honest to each other, so i said yes. She then later in the evening, when she got a little more drunk, said that she would honestly love to fuck me, and that I was her dream guy - but i rejected in a friendly way, because i was afraid to ruin her marrige.

I've never had a job before, I'm 18, and can't think of any place to work at besides fast food.

gf is getting mad because all my interests revolve around being on the computer or eating good food and nothing else.

I do game development a lot so i'm not exactly a piece of shit but I'll spend 95% of my time at my desk, either playing video game, watching youtube videos, reading things here, or working on my game and learning new art/programming things.

I feel like I have many interests, but for her it's "computer" and I have no life. I don't really have friends and I don't really enjoy spending time with other people than her. She's very close to her family and we often go eat diner and do things with them but every time I go I feel like I could just be spending time working on my game or having fun alone at home.

She went on a vacation with her family for like 2 months and I basically left the house to get groceries and that's it. She's giving me shit because "that"s what you're doing with your life?" but I actually had a great time.

Part of me wants to surrender to the normie life and change to make her happy, but the bigger part feels like that's just who I am and what I truly like and that I might be with the wrong person.

What would you do?

I have about $35,000 in non-retirement savings. I'd like to be able to invest in any mutual fund like a normal person, but the one year I did I had to deal with the taxes on dividends and capital gains and make estimated quarterly tax payments. (And shit like "basis" which can be calculated more than one way and you have to pick.) And if there had been losses then you have to account for those as well to avoid overpaying. And losses can carry over from year to year if they exceed a certain amount...

Instead of losing sleep or getting more grey hairs I decided to stick with non-taxable funds (mostly municipal bonds). Is there some guide that coherently explains how to handle this stuff? If I want to just pay someone else to handle it, how much should I expect to spend?
