Can you ever really love again when you have been fucked up by a previous relationship?
I feel like I can't trust woman anymore after the girl that I thought was one of the best people I've known and the first person I ever truly loved turned out to be a cheating slut.
I can't stop thinking that I really can't see the true nature of a person and I can be easily fooled again
>>17167183
Yes you can... But... Give yourself time to heal. Take it slow with the next one and keep your heart guarded for a while. Slowly let down that guard but don't be mean about it. Explain to the next one what happened and that this time you want to move slow. Again., don't close her out and be mean just try not to fall in love too fast and put all your hopes and dreams on her for a while.
>>17167202
Pretty much this. Time will heal all wounds, however it can leave some real hard scars too, that will keep others out.
You really just gotta come to terms with what happened. I know for me it took like 3 years to reeeeeeally get over it and then another 2 to feel like I could be in a relationship again. Things do get better, but you WILL get hurt again, just accept it, as the road to love is a bumpy one.

Right now I can't even have muster to have any interest in a girl
I've been working with a girl that is objectively beautiful and every man would be interested in having her, but I can't even feel sexual interest in her and I'm afraid it will be like this for a long time
I want to believe you're right and I'll snap out of it as soon as possible
Had sort of an argument the other day with my gf about wearing makeup/beauty treatments. I tried explaining to her my feelings on it - that it's pointless, especially when you're already good looking, and that I find the idea of wearing makeup itself to be unattractive. Of course she disagrees, and says I'm entitled to that opinion, but it's just been bothering me in the back of my mind.
How am I supposed to convince someone that plucking their eyebrows isn't a good idea? Or that spending half an hour to apply chemicals to your face doesn't make you any more attractive to me, at all? I feel like 9/10 women are brainwashed to some degree when it comes to makeup and it just ends up as a bullshit roundabout discussion.
>Women don't wear makeup for men you pig!
>Women wear makeup to look good!
>....for men!
>....and to compete with other women!
>>17167166
I like taking care of myself, which includes also using make up and beauty treatments.
It is relaxing, it is time I take for myself.
Once or twice a week, I love spending ha hours putting products on my face to make my skin smooth, my eyebrows look nice, or whatever.
If your girlfriend likes taking care of herself, you shouldn't mind it.
You can ask her to use less make up, but honestly it's her business. You shouldn't ask her to not do what she likes to do because you don't understand/like it.
>>17167178
Caking makeup on your face is not "taking care of yourself," it's actually really bad for your skin.
>>17167186
It's nothing to do with you and not your decision. If you can't stand women who put make up on, don't date them. Otherwise, leave them to it. Otherwise, drop your preachy shit about make up.
How do I ask a girl to be my girlfriend? With out sounding to cringy.
You don't. If you do it right, others will think you two are an item before you yourselves realize it.
>>17167118
My friend goes on like 4 dates or so and just asks if they are boyfriend girlfriend and how she feels about the relationship.
'What's your schedule like this week?'
This one line is gold, it's the absolute perfect line.
>creating profile on dating site
>get literally no attention from anyone other then 4/10's or ugly grannies in their late 30's and 40's
Other then becoming some swol as fuck type douchbag how can I get more attention on my dating profile? I mean it's not like I have a bunch of cringy fedora-tier images or weird shit on my profile so other then my face just being naturally ugly to women I don't know what else to do
You gotta chase girls, if you just sit there nobody comes to you.
So many men message girls, the girls don't bother doing the same.
>>17167155
I am not looking to get that far because I am too much of a beta faggot (if I wasn't I wouldn't be using a dating site). I just want more views and likes to my profile

So I have thick dark brown hair and whenever I wake up I have a head full of dandruff. I take showers daily at different times and it still comes up when i wake up, or even sometimes mid day. Its getting to be a problem because I can literally get a comb and move it around my head for like a minute and get loads of dandruff to fall out. I tried taking a shower the at night before bed and nothing, mid day nothing. What can I do about this? Will the pic related selsun blue work, and if I get it will it replace the shampoo or just be used after it or whatever?

Use Jason's Natural Anti Dandruff Shampoo. Head and Shoulders/Selsen Blue and all the salicyclic acid only shampoos suck terribly. Colloidal Sulfur is what really works for dandruff and the Jason's shampoo is the only one that got rid of it and kept it away.

I mean like, how do I approach them without them being ashamed/awkward?
Hi /adv/, I graduated from college a year ago and have been working since. My yearly salary is $51k and I also get a yearly bonus(amount changes depending on how we perform as a company but we will just say it's about 10% of salary). My monthly take home after taxes/insurance/retirement, etc. is $3079.
I currently live with my mother and pay her rent and help her with miscellaneous expenses, we can say this is normally $600/mo. I pay $200/mo for car insurance(I backed into a parked car like a dumbass and they wanted to file through insurance so my premiums went up). So realistically guys, how much rent can I afford?
I work downtown and want to be closer to work, I currently drive an hour to and from work. I'd stay with my mother but I honestly just can't stand being around her anymore. She's a terrible alcoholic and is depressed all the time. She won't admit that there is anything wrong and anytime I tell her I want to move she gets angry or starts trying to guilt me into staying. She cannot afford to live here without the money I give her every month.
What do I do guys? How much should I be looking to pay in rent? Do you guys have any tips for apartment hunting? Am I a dick for wanting to leave my mom here alone? She really does make me miserable.
>>17167072
Also I forgot to mention I have $20k in savings so it's not like I don't have a cushion to fall back on.
>>17167072
>How much should I be looking to pay in rent?
My parents told me that rent+bills should be around 30% of the salary, so you can save up some money and use other money for other expenses.
> Am I a dick for wanting to leave my mom here alone? She really does make me miserable.
No. If you tried to help her and she doesn't accept your help, you shouldn't be miserable to help her. You have the right to be happy yourself.
What city? That really effects the price. Also, it's not that hard. Just look online, and then make phone calls, and set up appointments to check out the place.
How much can you afford? Sometimes I wonder if threads like these are bait. The way it works, look at the way you live now. Make a budget that accounts for how much you spend on insurance, food, transportation, utilities and such. Then whatever is left of what you can afford. Bear in mind that you should annotate some of it for savings and whatever you want to allot yourself as a personal allowance. Also have something you can spend for fun or things you want. You'll probably spend like 200-300 on utilities. Plus insurance, 200. Depending on travel, and car, anywhere from 100- 200 on fuel. Food for one, a month? No more than 200, less if you're smart and frugal. These are all on high side. For things outside rent.
Total about 900 a month. You'll have 2100 left. Like I said this is high balling it. Then you have to see how much a place in your city goes for. Shop around and work from there.
As for leaving your mother. I'd she sick, and requires care? If not, no, not even close to being a dick. She's an adult and should be able to care for herself. Sure she's your parents, but you were born her child, not her retirement fund.
Hi /adv/. Weird way to open a thread but I'd like to say this board is really great, I often have meaningful conversations here, and I guess a board that aims to help people can't really be that bad.
Anyway here's my stupid problem: I'm going to the birthday of a friend tonight, there will be my high school friends that I haven't seen for months and some of his friends that I never met before. We will mostly eat a lot and drink beer, I guess. Problem is: I've been going out 3 days in a row and I have no pants left, only jogging pants.
So, the point is: can I wear pic related at a party? Will it be rude or disrespectful? Will I look like an redneck asshole? Or will I just seem like a chill guy who likes comfy pants?
Is it like a house party?
It really depends what is the dress code, if there is one.
I think guys in sweatpants are hot, because I like casual guys <.<
>>17167047
Yeah, it's at his house. My friend is cooking.
There is no dresscode, it's just a casual birthday with a shit ton of food and beer (I guess?).
a-are you a g-grill?
>>17167050
Yes hahaha.
If it's a house party and your friend is cooking, I think sweatpants are appropriate! Don't worry about it!
Hey /adv/ I need some advice and I think you are a pretty good place for me to ask so here I go. Also asked the same question on /mu/ btw.
Keep in mind, this post is long.
I'm hoping that you can give me some advice on musical education (university), and my current situation. I do live in Bulgaria so things are a bit different here, than in the US or the rest of Europe but the concept of all musical universities is still the same... Sort of.
So I play bass guitar for about 2 years now (and I played rly srsly yo), but recently I contracted tendinitis in my left arm and the exams for entering the university in my city are in the 20-th of June.
This whole thing happened because I bought a six string ibanez and wanted to be really pro for the university so I played it like around 5 hours every day so that I can git gud and enter university as a "bad-ass six string pro"... And now I can't even hold my bass. I swapped the six-er for a fender JP 4 string, hoping that it would be easier on my hand, but nah. Thing is, my parents don't rly care what I do as long as I go to university and get a diploma and playing bass (and singing) is the only thing I know how to do.
But
Everyone says that the conservatory here in Bulgaria is pretty worthless and the diploma you get from it is even more worthless. And the only reason I should go there is if I want to play jazz all my life and I don't. I want to go there so that I can get super educated on music theory and play with a lot of different musicians but everyone I know says that I can do those things without paying thousands of levs for the university. I can learn theory with lessons (as I am doing currently) and I can play with other musicians just by communicating and looking for them around town (and I have done that before so I know it's not hard). But as I said, my hand is pretty busted and It's going to need at least a moth to get better.
Now on the other hand (seewhatadidther) I can sing. I have some friends with mad ideas that want to start a band with me as a singer. I don't know what I am going to work because my school diploma is shit but when I think about it MC Ride dropped out of collage and worked in a pizza place until he made ex military with the rest of grips. I mean I don't know for sure that when I find a band we are going to blow up at any point, especially in Bulgaria, but I just don't see any other options for me.
So yeah, I would appreciate it if you gave some advice /mu/.
>>17167027
>but recently I contracted tendinitis in my left arm
This is coming from a fellow musician: more important than those damn exams is getting that tendonitis fixed. Don't ruin a potential career because you blew out your wrist so early on.
1. Look up treatments, which may just be giving it a break for a while, and treating it with ice
2. Find better practice methods. Practicing should not lead to issues like this. Humans have spent many decades on these instruments, and we have ways to play them without injuring ourselves.
>>17168170
Alright, here's a more thought-out post. I just needed to bump your thread before it got pruned
Do you take lessons? If so, talk to your teacher about your problems. If not, look up practice methods, as well as exercises. Find method books for the bass. Any method book worth its salt will talk about playing position, and address these things before they lead into problems like tendonitis.
It may require you to make a fundamental change to the way you're playing your instrument. I'm a trombone player, and I had problems with a sharp pain shooting up my right arm when I played for more than a couple hours straight, and all it required was for me to turn my wrist. It's a small change, but when I had done it one way for 10+ years, it was a hard habit to break.

Can I get the spark back? Our romance and sex life are completely dead, I am willing to wait another 9 months (when daughter turns 2) before I kick her out of my house. I want her to lose weight and I want us to laugh again and feel in love again. I just want the woman I married back!
I started looking on some dating sites and saw chicks in similar positions to me who are in their early 20's with same interest and it really makes me want to move on even if I have to sacrifice having a family like I think I wanted. I don't see the point in having a family if I have to remain miserable and sexless.
Also I am very smashed right now!
Anybody in a similar situation or been in a similar situation?
>I am willing to wait another 9 months (when daughter turns 2) before I kick her out of my house.
Yeahhhhh... Usually doesnt go down like that. Most likely YOU will have to leave and she'll get rights of the kid.
You'll get to visit your daughter on wednesdays and every other weekend but it will never be enough for a satisfying relationship for you or her.
And your wife will have about 60% of all your assets.

Welcome to married life with children. It doesn't get any better which is why there's millions of men on married but looking hook up sites.

Also: do you share your house duties equally? How many hours a day do you take care of your kid, compared to her?

I didnt go to prom, a lot of people didnt and I dont just mean people on here.
Its the most pretentious fake fucking dance there is. None of those kids are old or experienced enough to know what real love is. They're shelling out 100s of dollars for one night in hopes of getting a blowjob or a summer boyfriend.

Id be fine with just a summer gf :(
I'm gonna hate tonight, ill feel more lonely than ever
>>17166988
Then get one dude, its not that hard.
The problem is everyone wants an intimate relationship now. Right now. Instant gratification. They just want to be in the arms of a lover. But it doesnt work that way, relationships need to be built up.
Just start small by taking a few girls out within the same week, little stuff like going out for coffee or a walk in the park. Pick the one you like the best and continue doing things from there. One step at a time, and before you know it you're in your car and she's slobbing on your knob and you now have a gf.
I'm a private English tutor in a non English speaking country. I currently teach two students, one is an essentially fluent 7 yo boy and the other a 4 yo who knows a few words and can sing the alphabet. My male student is great, and I see him 5 times a week. We have fun conversations and he is focused, for a 7 yo. Most questions he can't answer are met with fart sounds or 'poopie?'.
My 4 yo student has hardly made any progress in 6 months. Her father is absent and her mother works all day. I have noticed severe discontent with her mother abandoning her, and resent that her mother keeps telling her 'you need to learn English because you are American-Chinese, Daddy is in America waiting for us'. Her mother doesn't have time to review with her and I feel more like a babysitter/playmate than a real tutor. But I wing it and make the child happy. However, I really feel like she is better suited in a class with other children. I hate being paid for my work and not seeing results.
I've done the math and realized that if I taught the boy 7 nights a week (his grandma initially wanted me to) I would just be making 30 dollars less a month...hell, if I stopped eating at Papa John's then the $30 won't matter. The child would be happier in a class, I would have more free time, and possibly find a more fulfilling student. How do I approach her mother with this?
I have reviewed my teach style with this child over and over, and honestly I've come to believe that private tutoring just isn't for her. She's lonely, and she focuses most when her neighbor comes to have class with her, another child her age.
