Hey I'm sure /adv/ hates girl questions but I wanted another opinion on how to proceed with this situation.
A female long-time friend of mine recently moved near me and bought a fixer upper home to start college here. I will be going up and staying with her for a few nights and doing a bunch of manual labor for her.
We had always been close in the past, but never really managed to make a relationship work, circumstances usually kept us apart.
I've been looking at this as an opportunity to actually seal the deal, but today she tells me that she has a long distance boyfriend. She's been fairly flirtatious over text messages,, and put off telling me about him for quite some time. She has no intention of moving back and I do not believe he has an intention to move out here.
What do I do to move in on this without breaking boundaries early? What would you do /adv/?

How can I tell if a guy actually likes me or is just trying to get sex? Is being friends with your ex a good idea? When mine broke up with me and tried to play the "let's be friends" card, I told him flat out that I hated that idea because I don't think it ever works and he got pissed at me.
I've asked other people for the opinions and a lot of them seem to think I've screwed up because, in their reasoning, if you had something special with a person and still cared about the good memories and what they meant to you, you'd be an idiot to throw away any potential for friendship. Mind you, I was the one who was dumped.
Thoughts? Has it ever worked successfully? Did I really fuck up?

I was recently introduced to a girl over text a few days ago and we immediately hit it off. We're so much like each other to the extent that she's basically me but a girl or something.

Don't stress over it, sometimes a moment of silence is better than talking about inane shit, especially if you're not complete strangers. Also remember that you don't have to lead the conversation 100% of the time, let her talk and ask you questions.

i'm very nervous about this but my boyfriend is coming to my home town to meet my family for the first time. i've never introduced a boyfriend to my family before, mostly because my mom has very high standards and expectations when it comes to boyfriends and friends of mine... we're going out to eat somewhere for dinner... but what is the common etiquette about this? does my mom pay for the dinner or does he pay his own tab? i really don't know? what can i do to make this run smoothly?

please help, the last time my mom disapproved of an ex of mine, she literally took my money out of my bank account and held it hostage and generally made my life at home miserable.
i do plan to move out when i get a job, but i don't know when i'll be exactly hired though i am searching as hard as i can...

To preface, I'm essentially a nihilist, nothing has any meaning, we're all fucked, etc. I.E no supernatural for me.
here's the problem, I have, for the past year or so held this obsession with a concept that I can't describe. It's not God, a lot of the stuff about God sounds similar though. Not the morals or the persona or the power, just this one aspect specifically allocated by some Catholic and Islamic sects, the correlation with light and the sun. The concept I've been chasing so to speak doesn't really have a name, which is why it's so maddening. The best I can put it is, imagine the end of a summer day, you're looking across a field of grass that stretches to the horizon. The sun is right above said horizon, like it's setting. Photographers call this the golden hour I think, everything is almost hazy because of how much intense yellow light there is. So much so that you can barely see. It's like the whole world is yellow gold with hints of orange, blue and green. Under it all is this intense feeling of profound peace, like a major chord, extremely low, is thrumming throughout the whole world.

So im about to graduate high in the upcoming days. This has caused me to realize something, im alone. I have a few friends but nothing special. I dont have a group to do anything. While everyone is planning to do something big for beach week, im stuck doing nothing. Me and my girlfriend have no way of seeing eachother because of her overprotective dad. Neither of us have a car and she lives a few miles away so I couldn't walk to meet her. The only time I'm able to see her is at school which has ended. Our only way of communicating is over text messaging and calling (which we rarely ever call)
