Sometimes someone flames me in a video game and the encounter just lingers in my mind hours afterwards. I understand that I probably did horribly that match, but the words seem to stick and I eventually lose the will to keep playing.

If you want companionship then start seeking it out. If you're not likeable enough to make some friends and talk to women, then work on that.

Video games are no different from mindlessly browsing 4Chan, spending time on Facebook, or watching porn. You have to think about why you're reaching for the video games and solve that. Gaming itself isn't the issue.

In my case, when I binge on video games it's always to avoid something that I know is mentally monotonous or will likely result in failure and personal challenges.

Therapy. If your therapist sucked, get a different one. There is no other way. We had a thread the other day about a guy and hos girlfriend who had been whored out by her mother when she was young. Two people with experience in being abused chimed in and said therapy was what really helped them along.l to accept what happened and move on.

This anon is right. Therapy isn't some sort of magical deus ex machina, it is another person helping you face things, helping you with another perspective, helping you keep inspired to struggle with yourself. Even disregarding the fact that different therapists use different tactics and prefer different theoretical frameworks, the trust/understanding and click between the two of you makes or breaks everything.

Also look into EMDR therapy. It's really simple and strangely effective for PTSD. Best of luck.

In my experience depression about high school and university results are very prevaliant and a very common reason for depression. However, its easily cured by recieieving the results. Dont kill yourself until you see whats up. You'll be fine. Try getting drunk in the meantime, works for me.
