Hey /adv/
my gf wrote this about one of her close friends.
"You will always have a special place in my heart. You were the one that I opened up to and although we had such a turbulent relationship, I couldn’t imagine going through what we did with anyone else; all the ups and the downs, I’m glad that I experienced them with you.
I will always love you. I will always treasure our friendship. I will always be grateful for what we shared. I will always consider you my best friend. And I hope that you will always remain in my life because the person that I am today is all thanks to and because of you. You’re really special to me and you truly are irreplaceable."
Should I be worried or do you think this dude is just a friend? I have asked her about him and she says hes just a friend and that they're close now
>>17293860
Thats a pretty good break up letter if they were involved, but breaking up in a letter is so pussy
As a friend??? IDK man i cant see the relation if they were just friends, maybe she is just the friend, and he wants her big time
>>17293885
I mean they were involved before we got together, but she wrote this literally yesterday
>>17293970
Well there you go - She likes you, and is making sure that he knows it isn't happening, but the line is still open for the future, if things end up differently, but yours for now as long as you don't fuck it up

Don't eat while browsing the internet or watching tv. You can get easily distracted.
Ditch chocolate, candy, chips, beer, bread. They're okay once in a while but don't binge eat.
Diet is helpful but working out, believe it or not, works wonders.
On the topic of working out, depending on how hard you work you might feel extremely tired and/or hungry. Do consider taking a multivitamin because your body could burn more calories if you have the correct amount of nutrients.

Divide your daily consumption of food by more and smaller portions throughout the day.
You don't really need to ditch anything, just try to cut the quantities of it. Like, if you eat a bar of chocolate on one go, try to eat half of it in small pieces along the way.
Substitute some of portions by fruits and veggies. They can hold your hunger pretty well actually.
If you don't, learn how to cook your own food.
Drink more water.
How can I compromise with my liberal gf?
I'm a conservative, and a trump supporter for his focus on nationalism. She hates him. I want to avoid the discussion entirely because I htink its a waste of time. I like considering issues but I dislike basis the discussion on emotion which she does. She's perfect otherwise and I'd hate to have this be the reason we break up, but I really disdain emotion based debate. How can I separate her from the emotion or meet someone like this halfway?
>>17293829
Stick it out until after the election. No more argument
>>17293829
also, why does this even have to be a cornerstone of a relationship? I'd prefer to avoid it all together. I think its silly people tie their identity to it. But its so common. Am I crazy?
>>17293837
Good point, but I think the underlying issue is still there. Maybe its folly to be all or nothing, but the thought of ignoring a part of relationship seems distant. I'd like to address it and not have any discussions as a result, or promote her to separate herself from the identity politics if we're to get anywhere. I'd honestly rather be single.
So /adv/, me my brother split money to afford Overwatch and a PSN+ subscription. I ended up letting him have the PSN+ subscription. But ever since we agreed upon this deal, he has been incredibly controlling of his PS4 and incredibly difficult to work with. To the point of not letting me play on reasonable times. His main excuses for not letting me play are solutions he can easily solve. The biggest one is the fact that his PS4 is setup with his monitor that he also uses with his computer. He complains that he can't use his computer while I'm playing, despite refusing to let me borrow the PS4 into my room, all while he has borrowed my PS3 for years.
He is 18, and our father has already told me quite bluntly to not do business with "Children." Every time I try to talk to him about this issue, he gets all mad and escalates the situation, being incredibly childish and again, being difficult to work with. He gets all annoyed and puts on a timer, blaming me for how long it's taking when he's being dismissive and unwilling to negotiate. This sounds like some incredibly insignificant shit, but I just really want to play this silly game I put money in.
I can afford a PS4, I just didn't want to fork over the money, and I thought I'd help my brother since he also wanted the game and a PSN plus subscription. He is 18 years old and is a man-child, who wants to be a game designer if that has any relevance.
>>17293789
>He is 18 years old and is a man-child
First of all, he's not really a manchild, just a child. Secondly, you thought it'd be smart to actually go halves with him knowing this?
>>17293789
Take overwatch, cut it in half, take your half. Assuming it's a physical disc
problem solved. Lesson learned about sharing.
>>17293803
I had no idea, not a single clue, he'd be this difficult to work with, at all.
Why do genuinely nice guys always seem to end up with intolerable cunts? My boyfriend has a friend who is a generally nice guy, he will give you a ride whenever you need it, he always offers to pay for food when hes out with my boyfriend... but he has this girlfriend who is a gigantic bitch. She constantly forces him to do things for her, she yells at him for even the smallest thing, like if hes too tired to do something or too sick she'll get mad and call him lazy or accuse him of not loving her.
I don't know how she can sleep at night treating this sweet man this way, he has a history of suicide attempts, alcoholism and self mutilation, and I really doubt shes helping any.
What posesses him to stay with her, she isn't particularly attractive, she isn't nice to him, she admits to treating him like shit bit continues to do it... its horrible to see such a nice guy being beaten down so harshly...

Breaking News: Nice Guys Get Shit On!

Because nice guys are the only ones who will tolerate intolerable cunts.
How many times do you allow yourself to get the point of shaking with anger with a woman before you call it quits?
I love her, but due to her insecurities she will say very mean things to get my goat.
If I'm even having these thoughts, is it time to cut my losses? Is it just momentary anger?
>>17293749
Leave.
>>17293749
Cut your losses and leave OP. There's no point in staying of the negative outweighs the positive.
Once is enough. Don't leave because you are angry. You leave because you realize you two are not compatible. It's best for both of you
So an idiot I went to high school with posted a video of himself drinking while driving today. Am I obligated to report him to the police or something? Drunk driving really pisses me off, but I don't know what to do about it.
>>17293727
>Am I obligated to report him to the police or something?
Yes. Dangerous behavior combined with showboating is the attitude that ends lives. It will be someone elses', not his, it always is.
>>17293732
This. Just forward the video anonymously to the PD if you can. Call crimestoppers and give them the link if need be.
>>17293732
Well, how do I do that? If I report it to Facebook will they take care of it?
Bearded men of /adv/,
every girl I've been with told me that I look a lot better with facial hair, so slowly I've been growing it out more and more. This summer I decided that I'm going full lumberjack mode.
I've been blessed with pretty good beard genetics, so I haven't really had to be patient. It is, however, growing in a little bit trashy, so I think it's going to start requiring some maintenance. Would a barber shop or salon able to offer any help to me and help trim my beard without me losing progress? What beard products would you recommend? I just want my facial hair to look high status and well groomed
>>17293684
Dude beards are definitely in and have been for a while now. Check out a male salon in the city if you have $$$ like that, or just a barber shop. See if any have beards and go from there
Full lumberjack by definition is no cut trim style nothing
>>17293712
Maybe "lumberjack" wasn't what I meant then. I need something like this, something clean. Not a shitty and unkempt "I live with my parents" kind of beard.
>>17293712
>have been for a while now
yes, that means they're now out.

>come over my house tomorrow and I'll have your check for you
oh jeez, what now
>>17293641
Go over tomorrow and get your check and find out whether she meant it literally or was using it as a double entendre. Either should be alright as long as you get your money eventually.
>>17293641
You sue her for illegally withholding pay and for sexual harassment.
>>17293641

A little while ago I was wating in the streets and found an outdoor cat. This cat seemed young, looked well-groomed and was rather friendly. He was really needy and as I pet him, he beings to drool a lot. A bit fell on my wrist and everything.
I later read that it could be, among other things, a sign of rabies in cats. As soon as I get home, I desinfect my whole body with ethanol (by which time the drool was pretty much dry). I didn't have any open wounds.
If the cat did have rabies, am I fucked in any way?

Is 15 too much? Like is that unrealistic and beyond being personal favorites? Or should I cut back a bit? What's better? 15? 14? 13? or 12?
Shameless self pump-a-bump

What albums are they? It could definitely be narrowed down to at most 6.
What's the best way to break up with long distance Internet bf who threatens suicide, sends dozens of begging emails, makes grand declarations of lifetime love, etc?
There is really truly legitimately nothing wrong with him except a) I am crazy enough that I think I want to marry someone who doesn't act like me/him and b) I need space in my life right now, not a relationship and c) I want to spontaneously fall in love in person. So I don't want to be cruel to him.
I've tried to break up with him and block him several times and I keep pussying out. I need HIM to want to go away. How do I make him go away?
I AM IN DIS EXACT SITUATION GUUURL I FEEL U
except i just blocked him, 2 days ago and i know feel kinda shitty but free
You don't, break up with him.
If he dies, he dies. But he won't I promise. Also this is plastered all over /adv/ make use of it.
+1 (800) 273-8255 It's a suicide prevention hotline, message him, tell him it's over and why, and send him this number. Then you can wash your hands of the situation.

Stop engaging in online relationships
Hi /adv/, I'm sorry for the long blog post.
Lately, I have started getting in more and more fights with my girlfriend. We start talking about the future and we always end up arguing about bullshit. She thinks I am too restrictive. It is true that I am quite negative of her plans (she wants to go to New Zealand from Europe after her bachelor's degree), but sometimes her plans make me feel extremely neglected. She doesn't see it that way (she always gets mad when I tell her I'd like to be more included in her future and tells me 'it's too far away'). I, on the other hand, want to make us financially independent by working and investing. She doesn't understand me and doesn't WANT to understand me. To quote her words "You can't take that stuff to the grave, so why have it". I'm in my early 20's and I'm scared of the future, mainly of the possible lack of work that could happen (I'm self-employed). Whenever I tell her, she mocks me and tells me "I'm being ridiculous" and that I should "enjoy my money, I won't be taking it to the grave anyway".
Is the problem me? I'm really uncertain about my future and I'm trying to find my purpose in supplying my future family, financially and in other ways. My GF is the archetypical first-wave feminist - she wants to work, earn money, she doesn't want a family, she wants career. It is ever harder for me to find my life's purpose in her. What can I change about myself to be more accepting?
I am always scared for her and she always keeps nagging at me when I tell her that my work will take me on business trips (I am an interpreter). She just doesn't understand why I do what I do, and when I tell her, I'm the evil one for not wanting to spend every second with her.
I'm fucking freaking out, guys and girls. Help me, how should I change?
>>17293603
Could you be more detailed about your girlfriends plans for the future, and why you don't like them?
Your girlfriend sounds like a stupid bitch to me, to be quite honest, and you don't want to end up stuck with a stupid bitch.
>>17293660
Her plan is to move out to get a better job. That I understand, because the job situation here is mostly shitty. Also, I wouldn't notice anything, since I'm able to work from halfway around the world. But what infuriates me is the fact that she wants to travel for work, yet when I tell her I'll go to interpret somewhere e.g. once a week, she throws a tantrum. I explain to her that it would mostly be conferences innacountry, no big travel, but she still tells me that she'd travel once for 2 months, while I'd travel for 4 months every year, "just have it spread out over a longer period".
That's true, but fucking hell, what if I got a fucking office job? I'd be out of the house EVERY DAY of the work week. This way, I'm away for 5 or 6 days a MONTH (fucking literally), and it's somehow bad!
Fuck, shouldn't have taken those 3 caffeine tablets.

>long distance relationship
pack up and move on. You have zero future together.
Stop trying to have relationships with people you are FUNDAMENTALLY INCOMPATIBLE with.
Okay, my girlfriend moved from an apartment a few months back and she asked of a favor of the maintenance guy from the apartment she was moving from to help get her full deposit back. He helped make sure the review of the apartment was flawless and she got her deposit. This guy has kept constant communication with her and makes many excuses to go to her new house to fix things and brings over all sorts of random items for her house (some obviously taken from the apts he works at). He's always texting her to see how she is and today I saw a text that said call me when you can. It's making me uncomfortable. I tell my girlfriend this and she gets mad and says he's just her friend. She says she's not doing anything with him and he's a couple decades older than her. I point out that the guy most likely has other intentions but she doesn't care about my opinion on this matter. What should I do or say cos this is ridiculous at this point.
It is quite possible that your girlfriend is just milking the maintenance guy for all the material stuff he's giving her. She is obviously wrong in ignoring the guy's hidden intentions, so proceed with caution. You either got a ho' or a dumb bitch, and neither is assuring.
>>17293681
I'm pretty sure she is milking it for all he can do for her, but I don't understand the naivete on her part thinking this guy is just completely altruistic and has no other motives/intentions especially with the volume of contact he has with her and his constant excuses to go to her house. What should I do or say. It seems like she doesn't care about my opinion about this, and she just gets pissed off.
>>17293681
BTW she is extremely hot and there's no doubt this older guy ever had someone like her talking with him, especially at his age.
