So I have what I believe is a heart murmur or some kind of heart problem. From time to time I have "mini-heart attacks"

I'm pretty healthy, I workout 3-4 times a week and I eat well. 185 lbs, 6'1. I can run 4 miles in 37 minutes. I'm healthier than most people I'd say.

I've noticed that they are gradually increasing in magnitude. The other day I was on the train and one started, it was much longer than any other one. Maybe a full ten seconds. For the first time I felt a little light headed because of it. They always seem to happen at time when I'm laying down, or sitting not doing anything in particular. Never when I'm exerting myself.

When I feel them I just kind of calm myself and rationalize that the worst thing that could happen is that I'll die, and I was already going to do that anyway. I'm more afraid of losing my mind than dieing. Though I'm not thrilled.

I have this feeling. That these things are going to just kill me one day. Since I was a child, I always thought I would die by age 35. I don't know where this number came from, but it feels like it's written in the rules of the galaxy. That's just when I die. I've kind of accepted it.

Does anyone else have these? I don't feel a sense of urgency really. I know that my "Prophecy of death at 35", is most likley malarkey, but I feel if these where to increase by say, 10-15 times in strength, I'll die.

I have one maybe, 1-2 times a month. Sometimes they feel like they aren't going to end. But then they do.

oh and those could be panic attacks and not mini heart attacks, but they could be mini heart attacks so still go to a cardiologist

the part about losing your mind is more panic-esque. a full heart attack would feel like an unbearable pain in your chest

all of this points to going to a damned doctor and not /adv/
>>
>>17410833
I've had panic attacks. Those put me in a totally different mental state and I break out in a cold sweat. I've had two of those, but those were brought on by clear stressful life things.

These are like "Sitting doing whatever, and oh shit what's going on with my heart, feels like its going in slow stronger throbs". It's not a pain I'd say, just like a feeling higher than normal heart rate at a time when you aren't doing anything physical, and more of a throbbing rate than when I exert myself. It's like the feeling of almost choking when you swallow something, but then it swallows okay after all: except in your heart.

I'll get it looked at. Is there a way to know if these are common normal palpitations?

I'm writing a cover letter for a job posted on Linked In. What should the salutation be if I'm 80% sure of the recipient's name? Apparently "To whom it may concern" doesn't cut it anymore but the job was just posted by the company and not by a person.

The description says "Supports VP of HR" and there's only 1 person on LinkedIn with that title, so I'm pretty confident that she's the one, but it could be the case that someone who works under her is going to be the recipient. What should i do?
39 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
You contact the organisation and ask who you should address your cover letter to. It shows you're interested in the job, plus it means you don't have to address it generically or address it to the wrong person. Two birds, one stone
>>
>>17410819
Contact the company and ask who the VP of HR is.

Or write "To Blahblah McBlahblah or other HR Representative" maybe?

Either way, you don't want to write down that person's name, and later find out that they quit the job last year and didn't update their Linkedin page.

So, I've fapped so much the last years and now I'm forgetting things quite fast or having problems to remember something. What is suggested to do in this situation?

Finally, could it possibly have caused my dry eyes?

Thanks in advance.

Has nothing to do with your memory problems and has nothing to do with your dry eyes.

Drink more water, get more sleep, spend significantly less time in front of a screen, and see a doctor if you really think this could be an early-onset Alzheimer's thing.
>>
>>17410806
All my wat. You prob have early onset Alzheimer's and keep forgetting you already wanked.
>>
You think your memory loss might be caused by masturbating? When is the last time you even went near a hospital?

I need some opinions on this shit, because I've been pondering about it for a while now.

So, most people work around 40h a day.
On weekdays, they'll mostly do not much else.
Weekends and holidays are relaxing and great, but having ~5 days a week just sitting there and doing some shit just to get money seems stupid as fuck.
Like, why the hell do so many people sucker up for this shit?

I'm seriously considering if it's worth living while doing boring stuff every day for at least fucking 30 years.
Like, what the fuck. Isn't this crazy?

Consider this: some people's jobs involve variety and they actually like their jobs
Also consider this: getting up and doing something pays a whole lot more and is more rewarding than sitting on your ass all day and watching dickgirls
>>
>>17410787
>Like, why the hell do so many people sucker up for this shit?
Because they have to live.

Also, a lot of people find meaning and fulfillment in their work. If you don't want to work in a cubicle for X company, there are plenty of jobs that are directly important to society.

Find a social cause that interests you, and pursue a way to contribute to it for a living.

So recently I been feeling like my dick is kinda small for my body (180 cm, 80~ kg, age 17) dick size is 15 fully erect. Having big hands feels like holding a baby carrot. I kinda feel insecure about this, any advice?

Kind of fucked up by waiting too long to ask her out.
I am 23 and she is 25, I met her a while back and once I got to know her I never liked anyone as much as her.
Recently I found out that she just started dating someone for about a month, I felt regret not asking her out before, I think I had a chance but pussied out.
I am planing to ask her in about a week if she is still dating the guy, and if she is, then ask if she considers him her boyfriend. If she asks why, I was planning to tell her I want to date her and that I like her for a long time and regret not asking her out earlier.
I would like to know if this is a bad choice and if there is a different approach? I really want her know know.

I am not sure how serious she is with the guy she is dating. I would like to date her.
I think this might be her first time dating and I never dated before.
I would imagine if she doesnt ask why I am asking then she would be indicated that she is not interested.

I feel like I need one, society treats political parties like religion, you MUST fucking pick one. I feel like a bad person for not having one. I really don't like the people on either side at all. I'm too much of a faggot for /pol plus being mixed makes me a mongrel, but I'm too "racist" and "problematic" for the liberal side. What do?

You're fine. We've reached a point where both parties are so absurdly polarized that no sane or smart person can really agree with either. Neither side has any interest in the truth, neither side wants to stop at a reasonable solution to any problem. They just want to push THEIR agenda as far as they possibly can and destroy the opposition.

So, like most sane people, just swallow your pride and vote for whichever one seems slightly less awful. Beyond that, you don't really have to focus too much on politics. Just live your life

>I feel like I need one, society treats political parties like religion, you MUST fucking pick one. I feel like a bad person for not having one.

No fucking way. You have your own opinions. A lot of people are political independents, anon. You're one of millions.

> I really don't like the people on either side at all

Both Trump and Hillary are the most hated presidential candidates in history, anon. Again, you're one of millions. This election in particular, people are voting AGAINST the person they hate rather than FOR the person they like. The general idea is "Man, I don't like either of these choices, but X would be an absolute catastrophe for this country, so I'm voting for Y."

> I'm too much of a faggot for /pol plus being mixed makes me a mongrel, but I'm too "racist" and "problematic" for the liberal side.

/pol/ is bullshit. Don't go there. Especially for an (i'm assuming) somewhat gay person of mixed heritage. You're not going to get anything out of it but self-hatred and disgust. It's inhabited by white dudes who haven't accomplished anything in life, so they hold on to identity politics to make themselves feel good about who they are. It's just SJW-ism for white dudes. It's fundamentally fucking stupid, and you shouldn't feel bad for not fitting in with that. Don't internalize the "mongrel" language or feel bad about who you are. Your worth comes from your actions as an individual. Make yourself.

The same goes for the "liberal" side of the equation. You don't fit in. Fine. You don't have to. There are plenty of people who don't like the language on the far left--and that includes the center-left.

What you have to understand is that sincere, mature political beliefs don't adhere to "sides." Individuals have their own opinions about political issues. They hear out the different cases, weigh out the potential policies, and make decisions based on their personal values.

Whether you're reading /pol/ or the media, a lot of folks make issues into a two-sided debate, when that's all complete bullshit for clicks.

Don't feel left out. A lot of people feel the same way you do.

And stay the fuck off /pol/. It's a hugbox and intellectual poison.

I have serious attention problems, as in I can't even read at all, it's gotten so bad I can't do anything and it has really put on hold anything I want to do to better my life. Recently I got diagnosed with Asperger and apparently Attention Deficit is something that comes with it to some people.
I've tried behavioral therapy before to no effect and before killing myself I want to give medication a try.

What are the pros and cons of ritalin, adderal and other related stimulants used for the treatment of attention deficit disorders? What are the side-effects? Apart of my attention deficit I also have a serious insomnia problem at night, this being some sort of stimulants, would this medication make it worse? Or would it actually help? Being that generally my sleeping problem is because my mind simply starts wandering on about absolutely anything until the morning.

Are there food one needs to avoid while taking this medication? An specific diet one needs to follow? Also, what are the long term hazards that could do to your body the long term use of medication? You know liver problems and things like that and what can one do to prevent them?
Finally, my only experience with medication before was 2 years of taking quetiapine and xanax for depression and it actually didn't do much for me, since then I have skeptic to the whole thing till now, mostly because my doctor was incompetent and instead of trying something different when quetiapine wasn't working, he would increase or decrease the dose, and while I understand this is standard procedure it did nothing for me.
Anyway before looking for a shrink to get prescribed, I would like to knows second opinions, thanks.

I've been taking adderall for close to four months now. I've used two different types. One is a longer lasting type that keeps you focused for about 6-8 hours. The other one lasts about 4-6 hours but packs a bigger punch. This one is great for when you have something you need to get done (ex: cleaning your room). Though I've experienced some anxiety on a few occasions. This one makes me a bit more intense. And noticeably blunt with people.
Adderall is an ampethamine. So it will make it hard to go to sleep for the first few hours after taking it.
The only long term side effects from Adderall are generally found in people who abuse it I'd imagine. I'm thirsty as hell when I'm on it (I usually drink about 3 or 4 bottles of water when I'm on the short term) but I normally won't be hungry for at least 6-8 hours after I take it. Occasionally I may feel hungry but I might not have a desire to eat until up to 12 hours after I've taken the medication. I'm a decently overweight so I can skip a meal. That might not be the same for you.
That anxiety I had before came from inactivity. If you're in school this may be a problem but even reading something online or talking to someone can ease that anxiety (if you were to experience it).
Keep in mind that drugs affect everyone differently. Some of the side effects may be ten times worse, some could be much less severe.
Also if you suffer from aspergers, adderall could make it worse as you might find yourself a bit more irritable and blunt with people than usual.
I personally prefer the short term but it's side effects are more severe.
Hope this helps.

Having asperger, I'm naturally anxious around people and have selective mutism when meeting new people or talking in front of crowds, would the medicine make this condition worse then? I imagine the shrink will know what to do though. if I show him the papers from my tests and diagnosis.

Sadly I don't know where to get a good doctor, in my third world shithole psychiatry is so behind specially in shit like autism and ADHD.
By the way thank you for your reply.

Hi guys. I went to starbucks today with my mom and when we get up to throw the trash away and leave I see two hot girls in my age range (I'm 19) staring at me. I would say I'm modestly okay-looking (I'm no Leo DiCaprio but I'm not basement dwelling neckbeard either) and I don't think I had any food on my face. Do you guys think that maybe they were staring at me because it's weird to see a 19 year old boy eating at Starbucks with his mom Saturday afternoon or were they actually interested in me? This is the first time I've ever seen any girl look at me like that so I don't know what this meant. If they were in fact interested, what should I do in this situation next time, or what could I have done differently today?

Just turn on a fan, close your eyes, focus your attention on the noise of the fan, and breath for a couple of minutes.

It helps me get to sleep easier and calm myself if I'm having a stressful day. No idea what it'll do to you.
>>
Yes, but it's like working out: it takes not only discipline but years of diligence to be effective.

Most people's minds are untrained and noisy, it'll take time to gain control.

It works. There are plenty of articles published in reputable academic journals that show its effect on your gray matter.

It's important to remember that repetition is the most important thing. Get in the habit of it. Try it every day for a full month. You can start with five minutes each morning, if you have to. Increase to ten, fifteen, thirty, or whatever else you feel comfortable with after that.

I know people wig out whenever someone suggests a self-help book, but check out Dan Harris' 10 Percent Happier.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sXBEfIXUno

He's wary of the mystical spiritual hippy bullshit too. He's a skeptic. But daily meditation helped him get through panic attacks and a coke addiction.

I am about to get fired from work (corporate american cubicle type job). I am on very very very thin ice, and they're looking for just about any excuse they can cook up to fire me, but can't do it right at this immediate moment because I'm out on paid administrative leave. Once I come back in though, I'm sure my goose is cooked the day I come back.

I figured I'd come back in wearing these goofy ass welding goggles, and produce a phony doctor's slip explaining how they're prescription glasses that allow air to flow in and out, but filter out allergens. They're "eye allergen filtering" goggles that I'll need to wear until the count of grass particles in the air dies down.

Anyone got any better ideas for last-day-of-work shenanigans? I don't plan to do any yelling or cursing or violence or pranks. Just creative harmless shenanigans. Any ideas?

My mother committed suicide last week. It sucked ass. My father passed 2 years ago, so everything is on my brother and me to take care of everything. I'm on my own, so this doesn't all apply to me. I'll greentext the relevant details
>$25,000 life insurance policy to be split between the two of house
>House that my brother still lives in has a mortgage that we CAN NOT afford
>Car insurance is all in my mother's name, for her car and my brother's
>He has two DUIs which make insurance really fucking expensive
>Little shit like the cell phone, internet/cable, etc.

I was hoping someone could help me find out where to start with everything. What we want to do is sell the house and hoping that we make some money on it. People around us are giving contradictory advice, and I'm starting to become paralyzed with fear and anxiety. Here's what we've done so far

>Ensured taxes are paid on the house for the next quarter
>Contacted her union, received the paperwork to receive the life insurance
>Went to the bank, started the process of claiming her funds (easy we were listed in trust of her account)

So... do I talk to the mortgage company? Judge of Probate? I'm really feeling lost in the woods here.
