I met my current bf through an mmo and we've been happily dating for almost a year now, recently we spent time together and it's been great really. My best advice is to keep playing with her and talking with her all the time, also try switching to some other platforms, something like skype or even better, discord. We were both shy with communicatig sometimes, but we got lucky since our guild made a discord and we started to use voice chat all together but as time passed only the two of us would remain in the voice channel. That's how we got really close and attached, and where we met each other best I think.
Now you also must be prepared for the hardships of an ldr, I'll just tell you from my own experience it's been pretty hard so far since we both long for the physical touch a lot. You both need to be prepared and have a lot of strength to endure it but I think it's very much possible, judging from my example at least.

No I don't think so. But honestly going to an elite school right out of high school is an incredible waste. The general education courses you take in your first two years are largely the same wherever you go. If you're smart enough to get into an elite school I think you should go instead to the best state school in your state, get in the honors program, get a high GPA, then after your first two years transfer out.

Realistically though where you did your undergrad hardly matters at all. It might help you get your first job, but it won't get you promoted. People pay much more attention to where you went to grad school.

However, you say she's already broken up with you. Has she done this several times, or has she threatened to do it several times? In that case, dump her ass. Depends on the relationship with your ex and your current gf. Tell your current gf about it, and ask if she'd want to go with you. If she really doesn't want you to go, you can either press the issue or just say you can't go to your ex.
