Art of Manliness is generally shit, but those are some things you need to think about.

Basically, what it comes down to is constantly bringing your attention back to the task. However, anything that isn't linear will require you to let your mind wander occasionally.

Focus also has a lot to do with working memory/IQ, so you can do n-back exercises.

Finally, being in a quite environment (to the point of using earplugs if necessary) can help a lot. As well as breaking tasks down into segments which can be focused on without taking a lot of time to think about overall picture. Looking for some better articles. Hold.

Nothing in life matters. You can keep on trucking and doing nothing, you'll get bored of it eventually. You can take your own life if you really want to, doesn't matter. As far as you're concerned, the universe can stop existing the moment you die, it won't make a difference to you.

But since you're here, asking this question, you obviously want someone to tell you why to live and not kill yourself. The truth is, there is no answer. Either accept that or delude yourself with religion.

I'm pretty sure that you my answer isn't helpful at all, but that's my view on life. I don't enjoy living and if it ever gets really bad, I'll kill myself and end it once and for all, but whatever I decide - it does not matter.

working out is a great hobby: it's good for you and you get the endorphin rush. you can even branch out into games for a social aspect (if you're a bit /r9k/)

maybe start a hobby by tinkering with something rather than starting from scratch

e.g. fix minor crap on your car and build up to being a decent mechanic (if you enjoy it)

Get a purpose. Not something your parents, teachers or whoever else wants you to do, something that you want for yourself. Like achieving something in science, becoming a great doctor, making a ton of money, doing charity work, whatever the fuck you really want out of life. Without something like that you will just keep drifting through life

Not so much material things. My mom loves me unconditionally so I can never get too angry but she's also pretty selfish, neurotic, and incompetent. I had too figure out a lot of things on my own (blame goes to dad for that too). I didn't really realize that my mom wasn't doing that great a job though until I realized how much cleaner and more stable everyone else's homes were. I think I'm not the only child of alcoholics that can say you realize very late into your youth that it isn't normal for your parents to go through a double bottle of wine every night and to deal with all of the subsequent problems that causes.

If it matters, this is just a TLDR. I'm not in the mood for fancy speeches today.
