I grew distant with my parents too and now I'm trying to reconnect. It might help to ask how her day has been at work and let her blow off some steam. Also, it's good if you show you're interested in her hobbies or whatever, even if she doesn't reciprocate.

What you really want is to become independently wealthy. Study hard. Get a professional, well paying job, work it for a decade, stay away from lifestyle inflation. You will have enough savings (that you invested in stock) to retire before you are 40. That may seem like a long time, but consider what most 40 year olds lives are like. They have a big mortgage, their moronic kids are costing them a fortune. They have developed some addiction, and are a couple of years away from a divorce that will finally ruin them financially.

Once you are financially independent, you can stay home, order all the books on amazon you want, and just read.

Watch some french stuff on youtube. If you expose yourself to the language you'll pick up on the rhytm and rules quicker than just learning it from textbooks. Had to learn it in school and finding the entry is pretty hard compared to english where it's easy to communicate on a basic level and basic grammar is chill. I think if you've got the basics of french in the rest comes easier while in english the advanced stuff becomes pretty difficult

But yeah, you need to quit gaming. I quit after high school, and my friend has been playing since then (PUBG, LoL). In the two years since our paths diverged I got better at hobbies: learned piano, read, went to school, got a gf, etc while all he does is work his pizza job and play vidya. There was a month where his computer was broken and it was great! We played chess and explored the city, made some friends, but he just fell back into old habits. That's just my anecdote to convince you gaming isn't worth the time.

It is true that the games aren't the problem and it is you, since it could be any other addiction. The steps to quitting are the same as any other vice:

1. Stop playing games
2. When anxious about not gaming, find something better to do.
3. Find friends that don't excessively game and do what they're doing as long as it's healthy
