Did you apply for full time or part time? 20 hours is measly.

Dishwashing can be hard work so I think some people fairly offer more for it, but then pretty much anyone can do it so it's usually easy to find a replacement for less pay when necessary. Is it a privately owned establishment? They're probably offering what they can afford to pay because it can be so hard to stay in business. The hours sound right for a restaurant: sometimes a restaurant might make pretty much all its money just during a rush that happens about 4 hours in a day, and sometimes only 5 or even as little as 3 days a week. For the dishwasher getting a lower pay that doesn't amount to much, but the restaurant really needs them on during those hours and maybe can't afford to pay them to do next to nothing during the slow time the rest of the day.

What it comes down to is you. If you're all set with living expenses and just doing this for a little extra pocket money and want lots of time for your life outside of your job, go for it. If you're looking to live off of this job I think you can figure out how hard that will be for you and will probably consider a different or second job.

It depends on a bunch of stuff. What do you plan to do in this new language? Why do you want to learn it? How dedicated are you?

The best way, the absolute best way, is to live in a place where that language is the dominant language spoken, so you have to use it at least a little bit every day to get by.

For me, it's like belonging to a weird club made up of normalfags of various ages with which I have very little in common except for genes, most of which I don't particularly like and a couple I actively dislike. For a couple decades twice a year I was expected to go to one of their houses to eat their food, make awkward small talk, confirm that nothing had changed in the past year, be shamed for not having accomplished more with my life, and once a year accept gifts from them that, while a nice gesture, were generally unwanted, more trouble than they were worth and I'd need to donate to charity to keep from taking up space in my home. When I stopped going to these yearly events because they made me more uncomfortable than they brought me joy, I think they considered me rude. If one of us dies I'm also expected to show up to the funeral and be a part of dividing the assets. I spent my childhood with a couple of them, which was nice, but like my other childhood friends we've grown apart over the years and now have very little to do with one another aside from the obvious tie. I'm still friends with one of them, but it's a long distance relationship and we don't see much of eachother. I find it really weird that if I get married these will be the people that will attend one of the most important days of my life, and that I'll be officially joining a second similar club of strangers who I know even less. I'm sorry for being insensitive.
