My friend is broken. She is a very cute looking girl, in shape, and everything guys look for with physical attractiveness. But on the flip side she is Asexual and has a very little sex drive. She's broken in the eyes of today's society, it's all about sex and all about having a family and kids. It's rare to see someone like that who doesn't want any of that. i was having this issue with myself, considering the fact that i completely changed my profession (well the new one is still not a profession)
i went to a university to become an agricultural engineer. it was something nobody did in my family, and i lived in a big city whole my life. but i found it to be quite fascinating and noble profession, and i found it to be a great challenge.
past couple of years ive been working as an agronomist, but at the end of the last year, because of various reasons, i quit my job and went back home. at this moment, a good old friend of mine offered me to learn programming and web development. again, something i practically knew nothing about. so last october, i started learning from the scratch, and now i kinda work for him. its still some smaller stuff, but im learning and find it interesting.
but my question is:
is it possible to be good at something if you start learning it this late in life? i mean, yeah, if i fail i can always go back to my old profession, considering the fact that i got multiple offers when i quit my last job, but i just found this to be more suitable for my situation.
have yo ever had this kind of experience in life, or know somebody that did? is it a silly idea to do such a thing or i still have some chance to be good at something new?

What's wrong with me?
I can't talk to a stranger without feeling extremely nervous and stressed but I can be sat beside my girlfriend who's breaking down and screaming crying about how much she hates her mother and how depressed she is and I feel absolutely nothing. Not a hint of empathy or sadness or anything.

They helped me come to terms, like you said you split up, you don't resent her and you are both on the path to moving on.
About the anxiety there isn't much you can do other than let yourself get used to your new life, it took me a couple of months to be comfortable and happy by myself again. Once the changes that have been made become the norm you will feel better.
