I'm in a band with 2 other people. We all helped write the music. If I wanted to move on without them, would it be in my best interest to put a copyright on the material? My goal is to try to move forward without the possibility of being sued in the future by the other people who helped write the material. I would want to give them writing credits in some manner, but I don't want them to hinder the future of the project
>asks for legal advice
>doesn't tell us where he's from
>>18092358
Well in the US, you don't need to register copyright, it's granted automatically whenever you create something. That means the other two bandmembers also have joint copyright in these songs. Since they helped write the music and already have copyright, there's nothing you can do to protect yourself from being sued except to write your own music. If you want to use the music, then you could have them sign some sort of contract that allows you to, but you'd also have to compensate them for using it.
I got a job several months ago. It's my first ever one, and it's a dishwashing position at Cheesecake Factory.
I enjoy the benefits and of course the heftier paycheck, but I'm slowly losing the drive of working here. I hate everyone here, I hate even looking at dishes, and I just about hate every day of my life. The only reason I'm still going is because I just can't afford to lose this job yet. I have way too much on the line to do that for now. I also see there's a chance at promotion...which is small, and there's three guys here who worked way past 5 years who still have dishwashing positions. Only one guy who worked 2 1/2 years got promoted, and he went to be a prep cook.
Can I go elsewhere after a few more months of working here or am I shit out of luck until the economy magically gets better (never)? I never went to college yet, but let's be honest, I don't know what plans to make there. I've heard horror stories about good students from there as well, so even if they passed and got amazing scores, they couldn't get jobs still.
Have you told the head cook or your manager that you want to learn how to be a cook? I've only worked in independent restaurants so idk if cheesecake factory is somehow different but usually in a kitchen when a dishwasher expresses interest one of the cooks will like show you how to chop salads when there aren't a lot of dishes and eventually they'll move you over to prep. Just talk to people in the kitchen about it tomorrow.
As for moving to another job, yeah you could. For the most part washing dishes is washing dishes though.
t. former dishwasher

Not quite yet, but my manager is kind of a dick. I always thought it'd be more demanding than just asking him about it. Honestly, unlike the washing crowd, the cooks are cool here.
Perhaps Monday, I'll ask him about it. That's a graveyard day in this neck of the woods.
>>18092169
well your manager isn't a mind reader, people move in and out of culinary jobs all the time. Tell him you want to learn how to cook so you can eventually move up the line. You'll have to work more but its the only way to move up.
I joined a bunch of clubs recently at my university for the sake of networking and nobody is asking me to go anywhere or hang out with them.
What do I do?
>>18092024
ask them to go somewhere and hang out with you.
>>18092024
Ask them to do so.
>>18092024
Ask them.
Never lived in a high rise apartment before but I'm looking to rent or purchase one. The specific one I'm been considering will be on a 14th floor, facing a state highway (the building is still under construction). My question is, what noise levels can I expect? Does height mitigate much of the noise, or would the noise from traffic get extremely annoying?
>>18092008
you want to pay extra for it to take LONGER to get from your apartment to the street?
>>18092030
Not really, but that's what is currently available near my workplace. On the other hand it would cut down drastically on commute times.
>>18092008
8th floor dweller here. The noise from the nearby highway is much louder than on the ground. But it is only noticeable when the windows are open, so I guess it depends on if the windows are good sound insulator or if you like to open your windows.
What does it mean when a girl wants to hook up after her anti-depressant medication runs out?
I know she's batshit, and I'm making a mistake by sticking my dick in it, but I'm just trying to wrap my head around what it means.
>>18091973
Manic depressive? She's on her high.
>>18091973
You don't wanna be there when she's not active.
Long story short, I moved in with a girl and we've been sleeping together for the past 4/5 months I've been here. She's popping the "what are we" question and I don't know what to say. We act as if we're in a relationship, but I don't know how serious this actually is and if it would even work long term. I've already compromised my living situation, but is it worth sticking the label on us? It's been 2 years since my last relationship so I kind of forget what it's like to be a boyfriend.
>but is it worth sticking the label on us?
That's up to you to decide. We can't tell you.
Is she asking the "what are we" because she wants to kick you out if you're not a boyfriend?. Is she asking because if you don't want to be her boyfriend she will stop sleeping with you and she will find a real one?. If you don't know the answer to this you should ask her.
Bottom line is sounds like you and her need to be doing a bit more talking than you and 4chan.
I hate tl'dr shit but there's a lot of info in your situation I think is missing before we can give you any reasonable advice.
>>18091963
You sleep with her and are living with her for months wtf are you if not being serious? If you realize you don't want to continue if you were to label it then leave immediately. Your problem was moving in together if you don't like labels. You're being a lil bitch desu
>>18091963
Ask her what she wants you to be and tell jer honestly whether you want the same thing or not.
I want to start a project which would need me to talk separately to a lot of players at a time.
It would also require me to be able to see messages I've receives while offline and make groups including multiple players and myself.
It would be a huge bonus if there was a built-in way to add music and pictures so I could send a different music and different pictures to different people which would preferably be playing automatically inside the program.
What do you think would be the best platform for it?
I know about skype and discord but they don't have a built in way to stream music.
Skype and Roll20
>>18091890
Having a shitton of small 1 person groups in roll20 would be a big hassle, if not outright get me banned and Skype doesn't have the music capability, though I'll keep it in mind. I used it last time I tried doing something similar and it worked fine.
Quick advice. Don't try to tear this apart.
Last time I saw a girl we would have hooked up but it was like 4am and she was tired and chose to go home.
Asked her out last week, ignored.
Trying to convert missed chance into bootycall/fwb. What do I text to do this? I need short, sweet, and tempting.
>>18091847
Imo if she wanted to fuck, she would have either done it the first time or answered your call.
You should probably just move on at this point.
>>18092291
This, move on dude
Not going to happen
Background: In a few weeks, I have a chance to see this guy I knew as a teenager (with my husband in tow). This guy had an affair with a girl I knew while he was married, but AFAIK, he never tried to date or have sex with me.
Last night, I dreamed about seeing him without my husband and sleeping with him. Afterward, I had a separate dream in which the guy and his wife spent time with me and my husband, in a timeline in which the affair didn't happen. I felt strange and guilty upon waking. What does the dream mean?
I was kind of a dorky teenager and didn't do wild things. I've never had PIV sex with anyone except my husband. But I feel like I was more attractive back then and have been wistfully wondering about whether I should have been more adventurous. Do I need to worry about how my husband will feel upon seeing this guy? He has no idea about the dream and theoretically shouldn't have an issue. Am I making this too much of a big deal?
Pic related, mrw the dream.
>>18091833
>Am I making this too much of a big deal?
obviously, its just a fucking dream
The consensus of the psychiatric community is that dreams have no meaning, and do not represent your repressed desires or anything like that. They're just random movies that play in your sleep combining faces stored in your memory with an emotion you felt during that day.
Indeed
I had a dream where I cheated on my current gf with my ex; something of which I would never even consider in reality. Dreams are just brief what-ifs, they're nebulous at best and aren't representative of "you"
As for pondering whether you should of been more adventurous, well that's up for you to decide. I'll chip in and say good sex is whatever works for you. I personally don't believe that some karma sutra like awakening can be found in the beds of other people. Sex is whatever you make of it, with whoever you make it with. It's nice to entertain the brains fantasies, so long as you realise that theyre just that, fantasies. You're not "missing out" on anything.

Thank you both. This helps me feel a lot better.
Can you please check if I did any grammar mistakes?

I forgot to mention I'm not a native speaker, so have someone else confirm what I wrote. And now that I think about it:
Jan Kowalski was conscientious, very responsible and dedicated to his tasks.
Because "work", when repeated so often, sounds only good in Rihanna's song.>>18092868
>>18091828
After the first paragraph, replace all the "Jan Kowalski"s with "Mr. Kowalski. It's not incorrect to repeat his name several times, but it does sound a bit clunky, and as you've told the reader his forename there's no need to use it over and over.
The first three paragraphs are fine. It's only the last part that gives away that it was written by a non native speaker. I'd change it to something like:
Mr Kowalski is conscientious, dedicated to his work and very responsible. These attributes guaranteed excellent work. We found that Mr. Kowalski’s creativity, organizational skills, and ability to work effectively in stressful situations helped him to excel in his position.
That puts the exact same message across, but it sounds a lot smoother and more natural. If it makes a difference, I speak British English as opposed to American English.
How the fuck am I supposed to kick off things with a girl?
Ill meet a girl, sometimes at a bar in person mostly through a dating app, we'll do a couple drinks or coffee and one of the following will happen
1) 1-2 dates and I never hear from her again
2) we fuck the 1st/2nd night and I never hear from her again
3) we fuck around for 1-2 months and I never hear from her again
I don't think my looks are holding me back so I'm guessing it's my personality driving women away but how do I change that so they don't leave for greener pastures? do I have to lower my standards?
I don't think you need to lower your standards, maybe change your approach. One of the reasons why people aren't sticking around might be because of the way that you look at things. I find it helpful to look at every situation and person as an individual, rather as a collective, and that was what was really holding me back for a long time. So it might be best for you to find out what is holding you back this way. You might be thinking about sex first and foremost, when you should be thinking about it as getting to know people. Maybe you don't instigate conversations enough. It's all about finding out where your weaknesses lie and trying to improve upon those.

First Rule: No one knows how.
Could it be that you're bad at sex?
How do I keep dogs from shitting in my yard? I live in the city, so it's a small yard. But,it's still disgusting always having to clean after these inconsiderate dog owners.
>>18091634
Put up a sign saying you will start leaving poisoned dog treats on your yard if you keep finding shit on it.
If you keep finding shit on it then start leaving poisoned dog treats on your yard.
Not kill dog poison but something that will make them sick and vomit an hour or so later.
Either that or get a fence.
>>18091634
Catch the dog and take a shit on it and if the owner interferes shit on them too. You might need to pre-prepare the shit as it can be difficult in the heat of the moment.
So I had a anxiety attack at work yesterday after some material fell off the forklift I was running.
I am so embarrassed, I dunno how I can face going to work today.
You did nothing wrong. Being human is not a crime. We all take our turns,
It feels like a crisis, but it is only as big a problem as you make it. You will start your day, and no matter what happens, you will reach the end of it just fine. You'll be fine. Don't worry about what might happen, just attend to what the present moment requires and all will be well.
Haven't been in a situation like this but I certainly know how bad anxiety attacks makes us feel and the embarrassment that comes afterwards. Take a deep breath and try to tell yourself that the next day is going to be as awkward as you want it to be.
Think about what you'd think of someone who makes the same mistake. Most people don't care much about it. Expect some jokes on you early on but they aren't meant to hurt you. It is fun seeing someone fuck up after all.
I'm terribly sick and I have work in two days. I only work on the weekend and no one but the GM and full time coworker could do my shift.
I feel like I can't call off, what do? What say?
Just call it off.
If you get fired you can always find online work. Who cares
