Its gotten to the point where I am seeing a counsellor in order to combat the urges. There truly is no meaning to life and the only real free choice you have is whether or not you kill yourself. Why must it be so debilitating to be a free thinker? I was at bar meetinf some friends i havent seen in months. I changed my wardrobe to reflect my mindset and all my friends did was ask if i was goth now. They werent laughing when I made out with the new girl. Leggy. Nursing student. I told her about the absurdity of life and how nothing and no one matters. She told me to prove it. Later that night on the side of the road i drove off as i threw her clothes out of the window. The mere concept of synthetic connection felt so fake and empty. Dejected and still languishing on the falseness of our reality i went home to make this thread.
Now i am deathly afraid of what i might do with these bars of Xanax. $uicideboy$ have been on repeat and Im starting to crave the Benzos fleeting embrace again, if only for a moment, until I fade into the ether.
Has philosophy made anyone else depressed?

What kind of "meaning" were you expecting? Sometimes life feels awful, sometimes life feels pretty good. Chase after the things that make it feel pretty good. Some tasks are boring to me, other tasks interest me and I get a sense of accomplishment from doing them well. Try to find a way to get paid to do the latter.
Some people are fun to be around and they treat me well, some people are awful to be around and they treat me like shit. Try to make friends & lovers out of the former, avoid the latter as much as you can.
If "meaning" means a tangible, lasting impact on other people, animals, the physical world itself, all of that is also possible, all of that has been achieved by others. Is life meaningless, or are you just too lazy to make yours meaningful?

My last job was seasonal and temporary, so I went on unemployment insurance when that ended and have been NEET for the past 4 months. I now have only about a month and a half of UI remaining so I need to make some decisions and was thinking about getting a CDL and becoming a long haul trucker.
The way i see it the pros are:
Save on rent by living in the sleeper compartment of truck
Work on your own, without co-workers
Decent pay
I have no wife or kids and don't really care for the area where I'm living now so I don't mind being on the road so much
Cons:
I have generalized anxiety disorder and I've only drove regular cars and pickup trucks, never anything as big as a bigrig so I find it kind of intimidating
I dont know how yet much the class will cost or how much insurance will cost, so there could be a big investment involved
I hear it's very easy to get hired once you pass the test and get your CDL because there is a great demand for truckers right now, but that's just what I've read online, and maybe its wrong?
I'm going to talk to a recruiter tomorrow for a truck driving school, and hopefully get a chance to ask lots of questions and decide if this is right for me or not, anything I should know before hand, questions I should ask the recruiter or any advice from truckers who do this for a living would be appreciated.

What do you do when someone just doesn't text you?
I like a guy and he seems friendly and maybe interested in me too. I've tried advancing into at least being friends by texting him and he (usually) texts back and seems to enjoy the conversation, but he never texts me himself. I've told him to feel free to text me, just in case he felt like he couldn't, and he didn't say anything in response.
I've texted him maybe half a dozen times over the past 3 months and he hasn't initiated texting once. I finally told myself I wasn't going to text him anymore unless he texted me, and now it's been about 3 weeks and nothing.
Time to just move on?

I want to know if my frustration is justified.
Backstory.. Have a very good friend.. Whom I love dearly but she has always had annoying double standards. The biggest one, is that she won't drive anywhere to see friends. Always tries to make them come to her. This is a problem, as 3 years ago I moved to a town a half hour away from her. I drive to her town almost every week to see her.. She has come to my town maybe 20 times in the 3 years I've lived here. She will always make up dumb excuses or just straight up say no. I've pretty much reached my wits end with it and am no longer willing to spend all my time and money seeing her with no appreciation or effort on her end.
Anyways, the current problem.. On Friday she asked me to come to her town to hangout. I said I am not coming to her town but if she would like to come to mine, I'm down to hangout. She said she can't come to my town, as she has work early the next morning. Which is bullshit, so I'm already irritated. She never works earlier than 11am and her shifts are usually only 3-4 hours long. Plus she never goe to bed before 4am anyways.. Even if she has to be up for 7am.
I also don't understand how, if she doesn't have time to come to my town (because she has to get up early and thus we can't hangout long) why she thinks I would want to drive to her town to only hangout for a short period of time? That to me, says that she believes her time/money to be worth more than mine.. Or at the very least is just very illogical.
Anyways sure enough.. She stays up until 7am.. And at 6am is sending me videos of her and some mutual friends and telling me how much fun they're having. She stayed out until 3-4am. So clearly, she did infact have time to drive to my town.. But didn't want to (surprise surprise). Anyways, I'm upset about this.. I feel justified in being upset, and friends I've spoke to also think I'm justified.. However she does not seem to understand or care at all.

Why do people care about whether I speak Spanish or or not? I'm Puertorican and Italian, I dont get asked anything from my Italian relative or kin but as soon as I meet some Mexican,Cuban,Dominican etc lady or girl they put it out there like it some issue.Fuck off already there's a reason I subconsciously never learned it as a kid despite being surrounded by it at home but then I'd probably come off racist.
How do I deal with these people?

I'd been with her for about two and a half years. Over the last few months she noticed me being distant, which looking back at it I was being. About 5 weeks ago it got to a point where she said she couldn't take it any more, she was too unhappy, she didn't want to ruin our great memories, and broke it off.
I made it clear I didn't want it to end, and at first she said we could go back to just dating and see what happens from there. But since then it's become a lot harder, I didn't see or talk to her for about a week and it felt like she took a hundred steps away from me and kept saying she needs to be on her own right now. She has said she may be able to get back with me in future, she thinks if we see each other and we find what made us so great again then it could happen, but she can't think about it right now. I thought showing my love for her would be enough and over the past few weeks I've made several grand romantic gestures but she's made it clear that it's simply not happening right now.
She's said we can still see each other as friends and talk occasionally, but she still needs space. I saw her earlier this week for the first time in a few weeks, pleaded to get back together but she said no.
I guess I'm just rambling now, I'm not really sure what else to say. I don't know whether to leave her alone or keep talking or what. I'm confident that if I keep in contact with her eventually the spark will reignite, but I know that staying in contact with her right now is hurting her at times. I'm so fucking torn and I feel like she's slipping away more and more each day. As long as she says there's a chance we could get back together one day, and she is still saying that, then I'm not giving up. She's not the sort to lie, I trust her when she says this, but it's killing me and I need this whole situation to resolve itself sooner.
tl;dr I've got a dilemma, if I want to get back with her do I keep trying to talk to her or not?
