I lived in the same house with my older sister and my brother in law.
I don't know but recently I feel a bit odd about my in law. I don't know if my instinct was right or not.
We have a close relationship, 3 of us. We can sit down and joking about anything and being crazy around each other. I treat him like he's my biology brother. Just sometimes when we go party or drinking he takes care of me more than normal. Like he prepared stuff for me in case I wanna throw up or such. I would say my sister sometimes not happy about it.
I never had any in law or brothers before so I felt awkward. I think talking or joking around are fine but take care of me that way I don't know if it's abnormal. Usually only my boyfriend do that such things for me.
I tried to avoid being attached to my sister and my in law but we have pretty much the same circle of friends so it's not like I can do it absolutely completely.

So please help. I need some advices on what to do.

I'm not sure, do you think he has feelings for you?

Your his sister now. He thinks of you as his little sister. He probably thinks he needs to have that protective, big brother persona around you. I suspect it's gotta do something with his upbringing and whether he had a little sister. And also it's a way to show his wife that she made the right move -- seems he is loving, caring and shows it to the people who are family.

I'm really confused right now. Everybody from my group of friends went out for 2nd time this week and they didn't invite me either time. I didn't argue with anybody. I'm on good terms with every one last of them. Everything was fine the last time we met and we had loads of fun. That was a week ago. But yet here I am, sitting alone in my room while I know they are all out having fun without me. Why the fuck wouldn't they invite me? I'm not being whiny little bitch or anything. I'm just really curious what is their reason for this, since I haven't done anything wrong to any of them.

Sometimes you gotta be the guy to invite people out. Then they'll associate you with going out.

Sucks but it works. That or they just don't legitimately like you.
>>
>>18135932
They just don't like you.

>>18135932
Ask them if there's any plans occasionally. If you don't make yourself look interested in them they'll lose interest in you.

I'm 22 and everyone is smoking except me

I bought two packs of tobacco and starting making cigarettes but they fucking suck and everyone is telling me not to smoke because it's pointless but I still feel left out and when everyone has a cigarette break during work I feel like shit for not smoking

I feel like I'm getting used to it but it still feels like farting inside my mouth. Am I just being dumb for wanting to smoke in order to be socially accepted?

Living with sociopath can be fine if they think of you as a good resource. So whatever you do, stay on their good side. It is bad feeling to wake up only to find out you are dead.

Also how do you know? If she managed to marry you, you are either too dumb or trusting or she is very clever. Either way it is very improbable.

Post more info and why do you think it is bad?

I just enrolled in the University of South Florida (Tampa) for the fall and I know very little about it and have never even visited it, what can you guys tell me about it?

I'd especially appreciate information about sex, dating, drinking, and partying.

College advice in general is fine, doesn't have to just be for USF.

the weed here sucks ass.
honestly if you wanna do any fun shit you're gonna have to drive to ybor city or clearwater/stpete

nothing happens in tampa. USF is a good school tho
>>
>>18135879
I've heard that a lot, but what do you mean by fun shit?

I assume you can drink and get laid on campus, that's all the fun I think I'd really need in between school work.
>>
>>18135883
> that's all the fun I think I'd really need in between school work.
yeah it could happen on campus depending on how you make friends.
but all the concerts, parties and events happen in those areas i mentioned
its only a 20-30min drive to ybor from the usf campus anyway.

Pro - honesty in a relationship is always good, they deserve to know, if they find out from someone else that will be worse

Con - it will hurt them considerably, relationship might end, things won't be the same,
>>
Admitting it happened is an indication of regret, and that you intend to quit.

Hiding that it happened is an indication that you have no remorse for the action, and you're going to continue action until discomfort.

If you want to try and salvage the relationship, stop the affair, and tell your partner.

But, since you're cheating and don't give a shit about your partner, you might as well double dip as long as possible.

any ideas on where to hide my weed?

I was thinking of hiding it in the dumpster or bellow the rain drain made of concrete.

I cant hide it in doors because they will look for it there.

What do you mean they'll look for it there? Do your parents/whoever already know you have it?

Apply for internships- Fail.
Apply for jobs- Fail.
Go on a few dates- All failures.
Work out- Fail, broke my ankle.
Work hard in classes- Don't fail necessarily, but do worse than expected, so that everyone feels you're a massive disappointment compared to what they originally thought you were.

Why try at this point? The only thing keeping me from launching myself off a bridge is I'd find a way to fail at killing myself, too. If it was some sort of a learning process it would have some use, but I get no feedback, and I'm just left to fail again.

I would say that any job wouldn't hire me, or would fire me based on my immediate lack of skills or just my penchant for fucking up. Let me put it this way, if my own cousin wouldn't hire me on to do tiling work for his company, who the hell else would?

don't date narcissistic people period. i know plenty of 6's and 7's who are act like they're gods gift to the universe.
>>
>>18135786

there's a lot of 2 and 3s who do to, the only difference is they have that itnernalized hate for themselves they try not to let others see.

>>18135781

attractive people are less likely to settle, but if you're not enterting each relationship with the intent of marriage, dating attractive people is fine. settle for an uggo if you want but im happy dating qts
>>
I would vouch for that. I do agree that other factors are more important but the concrete downside is that hot people attract more attention. If you are dating someone so attractive that she turns heads on the street, remember that she's still going to turn heads when you're having a fight, basically you will have to work extra hard to keep others away and her satisfied throughout the relationship (compared to a girl who doesn't sumble over dating opportunities and doesn't get the same amount of attention).
Yes average girls get flirted with as well but not all day everyday and not while you're standing next to her.

Other than that, you'd have to be okay with being the lesser/"lucky" partner (at least in random people's eyes) and obviously someone incredibly hot will have lived a slightly different life.

Is IQ a good measure of intelligence, and should it be taken into consideration when deciding on my career?
12 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>18135752
why, sure. While it's not flawless and not always the very best measure, it's still really good. But I wouldn't let it have the deciding vote about ones career.
>>
>>18135752

If you want to do something, then do it. You'll put rel effort in and you'll be able to study more if you care passionately about what you do. Doesn't mean it will be easy, but nothing worthwhile is easy.
>>
>>18135846
I am just going to copy and paste this.

"The idea that intelligence can be measured by a single number — your IQ — is wrong, according to a recent study led by researchers at the University of Western Ontario (abstract). The study, published in the journal Neuron on Wednesday, involved 100,000 participants around the world taking 12 cognitive tests, with a smaller sample of the group undergoing simultaneous brain-scan testing. 'When we looked at the data, the bottom line is the whole concept of IQ — or of you having a higher IQ than me — is a myth,' said Dr. Adrian Owen, the study’s senior investigator... 'There is no such thing as a single measure of IQ or a measure of general intelligence.'"

What is masculinity really? And what is the point.
21 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>18135732

for a lot of people, masculinity is simply a tool used to control other people.

look at what people are doing when they talk about what a 'real man' would do. its generally only brought up when trying to tell someone they're in the wrong for something, to shame them for a behavior that person considers wrong. These days its mostly used by women to shame men who disagree with them on certain issues, usually pertaining to dating.

'real men dont play childrens video games' when they want their boyfriend to quit.

until recently it was more used by people in places of power. real men go to war, for example. throughout history masculinity has just changed to fit the needs of who ever was trying to manipulate the masses.

google 'signs you're boyfriend isn't a man' and read the results. first one i found
>he'd rather go on a vacation with the boys

this is some really basic bitch level manipulation saying
>wow if you'd rather spend time with your friends than with me, that means you're not a REAL MAN!
>if you aren't going to pay for my vacation then you're not a REAL MAN!

basically women use this to control men these days, and it used to be used for men to control each other.

beyond that, there have always been personal journeys for masculinity. its not requiredb ut a lot of men take comfort in it.

one thing that has been common across all cultures and all times is that a real man doesn't submit to others. so even if someone says 'WELL A REAL MAN WOULDN'T DO x OR DO y' the one thing thats universally agreed upon is that a real man wouldn't cave into that pressure and woudl still stand by his own beliefs.

discovering your masculinity can be a fun journey in this day and age, so long as you dont let others keep score for you.
>>
>>18135732
It's a social construct. Doesn't actually mean anything.
>>
>>18135732

"Masculinity" is as much of a thing as you and those around you make of it. Don't worry to much about it. You do you, and try to enjoy yourself.

Hey /adv/, I'm looking into buying a new graphics card with my tax return. I currently thinking about getting a 6 gb card, but know little about hardware. What are somethings I should be conscious of? Will a single fan be fine or should I look for dual fan cards? Thank you in advance for your help anons.

What's your budget?

I'd say get one of these. Ordered from cheapest to most expensive.

RX 460 4GB
GTX 1050 Ti 4GB
RX 470 4GB
RX 480 8GB
GTX 1060 6GB version
GTX 1070 8GB

higher than that you're just paying too much
any other cards are shitty gimped versions
also the amount of memory isn't the end all be all
>>
>>18135697
>GTX 1060 6GB version
That's the one I was looking into getting. Im looking to spend no more than $250. I take it the single fan and my default power supply should be enough then?
>>
I'd say a GTX 1070 providing your budget allows it. A second hand 980ti may also be worth considering if you can't stretch that far.

With either of those you shouldn't really have to worry about upgrading for several years providing the current trend of raw computing power and VRAM requirements stays steady.

Don't worry about fans. They come with enough cooling out of the box unless you have plans to overclock them considerably. Just make sure your case is well ventilated.
