Yep, that's what happened with me.
I'm finishing up my third year (six year program) and only this last year have I been attractive.
I lost a ton of weight and got in really good shape, turns out I've got a pretty nice face when it's not covered in fat.
The problem is I'm still as shy as I've always been and I have no idea how to talk to people, so the only thing that's changed is that I now see girls blatantly checking me out and they're much more friendly a talkative around me, which just gives me a bunch of opportunities to be awkward.

I grew up in a dormitory throughout my high school years. During my freshman year, I befriended a kid that would become a great friend and motivator for me, however since the inception of our friendship I always felt inadequate compared to him.
He always seemed more intelligent, more keen, more charismatic, and outgoing than I could ever be. He had a naturally athletic build so he could garner attention from girls easier than I. I was a lanky doofus with no sense of direction. He just inherently understood that if you want something in the world, one has to up and get it.
He made conscious efforts to get girls that caught his eye. He never shied away from speaking his mind while I would just keep most of my thoughts to myself.
We're still friends to this day (20 years old), and I always feel like he's leagues ahead of me at living life.
TL;DR I'm a directionless fuck that's tired of projecting insecurities onto awesome people. How do I actualize?

Hey /adv/, I'm 21 and my question is this. Where do people my age and older hang out on the Internet nowadays? I've been visiting mostly the same sites for years now - 4chan, tumblr (yes, I know), boorus / paheal, fanfiction dot net, Youtube, Smogon, and other assorted gaming forums. There are so many kids younger than me on these sites that I'm starting to feel like an old timer, which makes it harder to make friends. And they only ever make retarded comments on things.
I've tried the idea of changing hobbies, but to what? Where are all the secret websites for 20-somethings? I can only imagine that old people on the Internet usually go on Facebook or rarely make a blogspot blog, but they're a whole different generation than me. So where is the new secret clubhouse; what sites do you frequent? Please don't say reddit. Thanks in advance for any insight

3rd day since gf dumped me. I gave in to my weakness and unblocked her on Facebook to ask how she's doing. Looks like we are in the same situation. My gf of 2.5 years broke up with me a couple days ago. I know you're feeling miserable right now. Try and focus on the positive things in life. Go out, meet friends, enjoy yourself. Don't stalk her online, don't write her. If you don't have really urgent business to discuss (like if you have a kid together), I'd suggest you don't even reply should she contact you - for a couple weeks at least. Get her out of your system, focus on improving yourself. Worst case: You'll get over her. Best case: You significantly improve your chances of her reconsidering your relationship, since you don't come across as needy and clingy. Either way, you can learn a lot about yourself. See it as a chance to become a stronger and better version of yourself.
I'm actually feeling kind of positive right now despite this gaping hole in my chest that was so present just a couple of hours ago. Time will heal your wounds!

I'm gonna be travelling soon this year and I planned to go alone, as I wish to travel myself without my family and take a big step for myself .e.g getting out my comfort zone, forcing myself to mingle with others.
However, I mentioned this quite alot and not too long ago I mentioned it to a friend of mine who now insists he wants to come with me and started planning, asking me questions, insisting I tell him when I go. don't get me wrong I like being in a relstionship, I love my gf and we have good times together.
my issue is really the everyday stuff:
I have no problem being the perfect boyfriend in a social situation: Going out to meet friends at a bar, eating out or whatever we do.. it's the inbetween that I just have no clue what to do with, the times when we're just hanging out in my place:

At those times I am clingy

Been in a relationship for 2 years, my gf doesn't want to have sex anymore. It's been almost 2 months since and the only sexual activity in those months has been a blowjob and even then it seems she neither wanted to do it or cared about it which made me feel kinda shitty for pressing for something sexual.
