I have a few OCs from circa 2002, Ammy is 6 years old since I made her around 2010. I bet many artists here have very old OCs too but the challenge would likely be limited by posting an old design of an OC that has been around for 10 years.

How many OCs have we seen as they were younger? I remember we saw young Jack and Mina and definitiely remember seeing pics of Kate in her life hundred of years in the past, but i guess since she is ageless her appearance would not change much outside outfit and hairstyle.

Ammy is actually 8 years old since the RPG Maker game she is from was made in 2008, I just mistook the year I stopped using RPG maker (2010) with the year she was actually made.

I feel so old, Ammy is my absolute "newest" OC and she was made 8 years ago already... damn.

Well of course thats not counting OCs I made here like Default Gal, Dagger-kun and "Y". but those were hastly made for challenges or as a joke, So I still count "Ammy" as the last OC I properly created.

Thank you! I like that some more OCs from RPGs are appearing, I was meaning to do something with Midori the Save Point girl interacting with Ammy or Charlie from some time.

As for Discord, well the truth is that neither I or my PC were made for it, it runs laggy on my PC which makes scrolling to read past messages a chore and also I am not very fond of it because I have the feel to go back to read what I missed when I wasnt online but when I do so it takes a long time because scrolling is laggy, so I end missing whatever discussion is happening in real time, so its an eternal cycle of not being able to ever catch up.

So yeah its a problem with me and not so much with Discord, I think they are an amazing thing and I love that this amazing community is thriving in there, but for me I preffer the thread.

Even if the thread slowly dying and becoming more and more slow, I will be in here unti the end, I am going down with this ship!

And while I am clearly missing tons of fun just knowing you guys are still around makes me happy instead of depressed when the thread is deserted.

Also I am 10 times more obnoxious in a live chat than in a thread! you guys are dodging a bullet believe me!

My PC is a 12 year old POS with integrated graphics and 512mb of RAM and Discord works fine for me, but I'm using the browser version, so maybe if you're using the app that's your problem? Tentacles are fun to animate, you can do whatever you want with them, no rules! (and yet I still made it look terrible!)

Discords are superior to threads overall, you can freely talk and discuss OC's backstories without it being called spam, you can also get feedback way easier than a thread where a lot of things posted get ignored.

But despite how much better Discords are, I always feel is not quite the same, that is just me tho, probably doesnt help that my PC hates it.

And as I said before, I am just happy the Discord exists, it was depressing for me to see the thread empty but now I know the Discord itself is brimming with activity from the regulars in here, that alone makes me very happy even if I am missing a huge chunk of the fun.

That depends on what you mean by romance. There are quite a few female pairings drawn together involving solidarity and friendship but in this example, Sushi (Boon) and Charles (Me) are a pair I draw together a lot due to similar themes, and they're not exactly a 'romantic' pair but for meta reasons they tend to be involved in lewd activities for author satisfaction. What I'm asking here is if you think that porn for porn's sake invalidates it as the kind of friendship you were thinking of.

The nature of /aco/ makes it hard for me to think of and create any relationships that aren't lewd!

Well what I look for is 2 characters that "bro it up" a lot, like super energetic friendship and comaraderie.

I know lewds will happen between OCs even if theres nothing between them, thats just the nature of the beast! so such a thing would not invalidate the pair to be elegible.

Made a dumb thing with him triend to shield himself from a random flying rock of doom, sorry I really messed up his design since I did this so fast so I ended giving him generic hair and eyes in my style, I need to practice how to draw him before I do anythign serious.

And oh god this turned out SO UGLY! SORRY! I just wanted to do something quick so it ended looking even worse than usual, the shield looks more like an ugly buckler too... oh man.

I want to do stuff featuring him and my OCs, but I cant decide if pair him up with Ammy and make funny stuff about him completely surpassing her despite her being an adventurer for a long time or pair him up with Charlie since she is an ungifted faceless RPG soldier that can't level up and would make a good companion for a Shop Keeper, like a team of underdogs!

Okay I was gonna ignore the drama since theres never a point to adding fuel to the fire, but I have something to say about this.

One of my favorite things about these threads is seeing how much the artists that contrubute here improve overtime, some people here just LEAPED in skill from the early threads, is almost unreal I was here to see it happen.

Now, Deltaaa is a special case, he is the only one I have seen outright get angry at people showing interest in his art, when someone shows interest in seeing you practice something you are not very good at IS A GOOD THING, but for Deltaaa was like doing that people a favor and got all pissy about it, outright refusing to even draw a full body.

That would be fine but then I learn that he recently redesigned Delta, and I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE NEW DESIGN LOOKS LIKE BELLOW THE TORSO.

That is absurd! But anyway since he clearly doesnt like that people is interested in his art I these days no longer care about it, and that is not common for me!

But honestly I am not much better, when nearly everyone has improved since they joined these threads, yet here I am not having improved at all since I joined these threads, pic related was the first thing I drew for these threads back all the way in Thread #2, and doesnt look much different than something I drew recently, why that is I am not sure. (but I bet is a combination of lack of talent and being lazy)

But even with that said, unlike Deltaaa I would never get angry at people telling me to try to improve the faults in my art, I get happy people care, and I give it a try, it usually ends in disaster but I tried and I appreciate the feedback!

But anyway sorry for the rant, these days I even dont mind drama since it at least makes the thread move a bit I guess...

Well I want to do something I havent done in a while. (and I used to do a lot! I still feel bad for it)

I want to make a request!

The request is a bit weird, but I would like someone to draw my OC RPG Girl "Ammy" as she would look if her original inspiration was an Alolan Rattata instead of a regular one. (For those that dont know, a freaking Rattata is the inspiration of my main OC, yeah... sad. She is not even Top Percentage either.)

With this I don't mean her as a mouse girl, just a "what if" on how her design would be different if the original inspiration was this other Rattata instead. How YOU imagine the differences would be.

I know is weird and stupid and hard to understand! So its okay if you guys ignore it, Right now I have a bit of free time and I want to use it to draw other people characters instead of drawing Ammy, and I would love to see how others imagine a "what if" subtle difference in designs when the inspiration is changed slightly.

Haven't posted in a while. Have a littleguard. Obviously designed after Aayra, she was found in a box at Aayra's guard post, sealed by a single bat sticker. She now lives in Aayra's guard post, sleeping in the same box.

Well the red haired one is Francine, but the others don't have names yet.

They were originally designed to be like, "Hero" type characters, like in Overwatch, but set in a more whimsical military setting like Advance Wars.

The one on the right was going to be a new by-the-book type member of the platoon, and Francine was going to "show her around". (hazing, etc.)

Thanks, by the way! I really like your style, whether you do or not. It's got an anime-ish flair, but it's really round and pleasing.

I'd try this when shading next time: don't darken the the tone when shading skin, but try saturating it more, and maybe moving the color a little more into the red.

That's what I do, and it tends to make things look warmer.

But I am stuck with Colors 3D, a Nintendo 3DS App as my only means to do art and it has really limited tools (I cant even move or expand the canvas) so theres not much I can do to make shading look better! (Thats why I am 3DS anon, is all I have to do art)

I also am very bad at light sources and my linework is too messy to look good colored, thats why I rarely do color pics these days.

That looks better than shading with black, but remember, the lighter shades should only be getting more saturate if it's reflecting more skin or if the light source is the opposite hue of the skin.
Remember, there's no color that you can simply always shade with the same other color.

Clothing, while I find it very fun, coming up with clothing for my OCs is a pain in the butt, I like to, for the most part, make their clothing make sense to what the OC does or lives in, I never liked the trope of "you can tell who the main characters are by merely looking at their outfits that stand out a lot" so I try to keep the outfit simple and "functional", but ends making the character look too plain.

Pic related is a character I once made up as a joke mostly, then they requested me to actually draw it and coming up with an outfit was the hardest and most annoying part "Its a fairy so she should wear something made from random discarded stuff she finds"

And as boring and ugly as the design ended being, it took me longer than I would like to admit to come up with it. (I have next to no imagination for designs)

Names are easy for me. I give my characters the first name I come up with and keep calling them that. In the end, even if somehow the name doesn't fit them, you will have gotten used to it.

I name Characters based on whatever gimmick/accessory they rock

I actually dont have much problem with names, I have two different methods to name characters.

If they are for a game, I usually give them a nae based on whatever theme I choose the town they live in is, one town theme is flowers so every character from it has some flower related name, Ammy's mother and sister are from the Color themed town so their names are Celeste and Verde respectively ("Ammy" didnt had a name since she was player named.)

And if the character is from a story I just give them a normal name, I never was into the trend to give characters MEANINGFUL NAMES THAT SHOW OFF THEIRD DESTINY (Like naming someone Icarus since they are destined to "fly too close to the sun" and eventually fall) I just look at them and go "that looks like a Bob, so the name will be Bob!"

Also I always avoid "villain names" you know how in many stories you know who the villain is because their name sounds villanious, something that almost always finishes with an "S" or something, like "THERIAS" or "VANITAS" or "AIAMAVILLAINUS"

In the game Ammy is from the main villain name was "Oliver", not because it meant something, just because is what their parents named him. I picked the name at random, that's it!

Nothing wrong with having names with meaning of course, but if you struggle to find the perfect name, just remember that you can just name the character something simple and won't change much, a name doesnt define a character, is just a label.

We have characters with simple names like "Jack", "Rob" "Moe" and "Greg" here and they work just fine!

The name "Ammy" was just the name i wrote in her character slot as early as i started the game, it was before I even decided to make her the daughter of Celeste and live in the color themed town. And since its the closest to an official name she has people usually call her that or "RPG Girl"

But if "Ammy" had a name instead of being player named it would likely ended being either "Azul" or "Amarillo"

To add more to the coincidence, "Amarillo" would become a handle I use since around 2010, which is 2 years after I finished the game!

Well his actual story isn't much else aside from what's already been said

He was an NPC who has been a shop keeper for as long as he can remember. the only person that he has that is even close to family is the old man that owns the shop.

One day he gets tired of seeing heroes come in and out of his shop. Then one day when THE Hero comes in he decides to go on his adventure.

This is when he decides to grab the shield from the shop and ditch town. Not before he has a heart to heart conversation with the old man assuring SK that he won't tell the guards what happened

Along the way he meets a succubus who doesn't know she's a succubus and they become a party after that I don't really have much else planned out

That premise is very simple but it works great for what it is, you dont need much to make a story interesting.

You ever played "Weapon Shop de Omasse" on 3DS? is a game wher you play in as a Weapon Shop smith and you see an RPG quest from the perspective of the shop keeper, you only make weapons for adventures that come to the shop and get updates on their quests, just like in your premise eventually THE Hero comes to the store and you supply weapons to it.

SInce you are always in the shop you dont really see what is going on in the "story", just bits and pieces of what the costumers tell you about how their quests went.

In your premise is very similar, but here the shop keeper eventually decides to go on adventure himself, which in itself could make for a very interesting premise, his knowledge in weapons and deals could make for a valuable skillset if written well.

And I have an NPC like character myself! so your premise resonates well with me.

Oddly enough, not long ago I made a very simple short RPG Maker thing featuring an OC from here (Mina Augustina) and my own OC and one of Mina's abilities was similar to your character's [Rage] but was meant to affect enemies, enraging them to raise one stat while dropping another.

I originally made her have 2 skills, one that raises enemy Def while dropping Atk and one that did the oposite, I meant it to be used in combo with Ammy's Magic (her phisical attack was abysmal but had decent magical damage) to neuther the enemies damage while damaging them with magic that ignores physical defense.

In the end I made it so the skill only dropped stats whithout raising another to make the "game" easier and not require much grinding.

All this RPG talk made me a bit sad, some time ago Raford made several character sheets for the OCs here adapted to be part of an RPG.

I made some very basic conversions of those into RPG Maker, I never quite meant to do anything with it since it would require an amount of free time I no longer can afford these days to invest.

And even sadder is that I no longer even have that base, I had to reformat my computer so I lost all in it, now I dont even have RPG maker anymore.

I finally redid a better reference for Glucy (I cant decide if i like "Gluci" more)

I should probably add a note shes naturally a sour gummy, but showers to wash it off. it grows back, so its kind of like a tastier body hair sort of situation.

In your drawing it looks a bit more deliberate, even if weird; in that one it looks like "attempt at furry feet #1". It looks off because they have four fingers in the hands, but only three in the feet. With the way they're shaped, if deliberate, I'd expect a short thumb on the inside of the foot or a talon-like one on the back.

But they're supposed to be cats and not birds, I guess.
