I got inspired by >>665232 amazing gif to try to experiment in using less frames than I normally do to make the animation look snappier and with more weight to it. I tried to use 1/3 of the frames I normally do and try several types of quick movement, I had no idea what I was doing so I can safely say that the experiment failed! The irony is that by the time I reached the actual swing I realized the entire thing was a mistake and just rushed it, oh well.

And even if I can fix the issue of my animations lacking energy and motion, I am sure I will never fix characters on them warping and deforming horribly as it goes on. such is my inconsistent artwork.

In my latest expansion into mediocrity I made a low poly of Axe!! I also tried using it to rig an ingame model! Looks bad but I don't have as much experience in 3d as I do 2d. I always have issues unwrapping hair I feel like there has to be a better way to do it than the way I am. Oh well next time

Also for a test I decided to put it into CS:S! I still need to fix the weight painting on some parts because it looks a little goofy when you jump around. This whole experience reminded me of how much of a pain in the ass getting shit into Source is. I was originally gonna put it into GoldSRC but all the documentation and links to the bipedal rigs for that are long dead. Trying to attach the model to a decompiled rig didn't work too great either.

I asked in a /b/ thread and I wanted to ask here to. Is reapplying myself to drawing as easy as just copying some artists I like and then using my new ' style ' build as a frankenstein's monster fine?

Yes and no, copying is a great way to learn, especially when starting out. But in order for your art to make sense you'll still have to (eventually) learn anatomy and similar important things in some way. That's not being classically good, it's just making your art appealing.

I'd say just start drawing things to get some basic skills going and having fun. If it's something you enjoy and keep doing a lot you'll probably start trying to improve anatomy and all that stuff eventually (consciously or not). So yeah, keep drawing and don't be afraid of your stuff looking bad at first.

Why do we even have Cassette Bat as an admin, anyway? He doesn't draw his own characters more than once, and I bet you that he would be on "literally who" territory if it weren't for Discord. It feels like giving a gun to a total stranger.

I think I've found the story for my sexy robot OCs.
The premise is that they have to combine with bigger robots to fight giant monsters. But the connector is their genitals. So they'll basically be fucking while fighting and reaching climax is unleashing the ultimate weapon they've been charging by humping.

They have no personality because you've yet to really elaborate on a single character, clearly you prefer a particular body type so just work around that for now, maybe choose a theme. I believe one I've seen pop up a couple times is the black one with a large toothy mouth, start with that one

Both known sub species of elf have been observed to be strictly carnivorous, utilizing various tactics such as natural camouflage or the secretion of sweet scents to attract their prey. The species has been observed to; reach running speeds of approximately 50 mph, stay fully submerged in water for approximately 2 hours.

Elves live in "communities" of 20-40 elves which occupy a certain amount of acres of land. Their community is divided into "families" consisting of 2-7 elves who spend a majority of their day together. Communities are lead by an "alpha." How many times do you sketch the lines before you hit the right one? Or are you just using multiple more or less accurate one to then go over the one that looks good with "ink"?

I mostly get it right away but I do use a series of lines to define a single line. This is obviously not inked but still. Anyways, the way I sketch is that I layer my sketches, with a rough sketch at the bottom and then stacking more and more detail on top.

1st layer: A very loose light blue sketch (mostly big circles and stuff) using a very big round brush showing major body parts and objects.
2nd layer: Using a red brush I define all the details and outlines.
3rd layer. Using a black brush I further define some of the more important lines and areas like eyes and silhouette lines (even though I didn't get to that part in the sketch I posted before).

I actually didn't save that part, I generally merge the layers and erase parts as I get further in the sketch. I did redraw it though.

I did try to redraw it as when I started. This is generally how I start, just some basic shapes that I then define with the red layer and then further emphasize with the black. As you can see the base is just a suggestion of what I want and has no detail what so ever. Sometimes I add in the eye sockets as well in blue, sometimes I don't.

Sometimes I then ink the sketch or I just color shift it all to black and start coloring.

I generally start by drawing the outlines. in this case for example I started by outlining the face before I defined the nose. Then I started working on the lips then the penis and then eyes and the rest. This isn't really something I have set in stone, you just got to feel for what you think is right which I actually can't tell you how to do because I do it by feel.

At some point I start freehanding in some minor details like the black stripes under her eyes and the big black markings.

Anyways, I feel like what you're struggling with is something that just comes with practice so keep at it! Don't be afraid of using the Lasso and Move tool if you feel that you need to resize or move the nose or an eye or something, sometimes you can mess that up slightly and it can be easily corrected with those tools.

Nah, if you can fix a problem by just moving the eye a slight bit to the side or make it slightly smaller or bigger then just do it instead of redrawing it. The sketching is supposed to be rough so I feel no shame in hacking away at it.

Some tools and effects I stay away from, like the overlay layer effect because I'd rather learn how to do that manually and understanding why the colors behave in that way.
