The thing is, your writing really does have potential, but it's constantly held back because of all the silly mistakes that two minutes' worth of checking could catch. It's lazy, and it it brings the overall quality crashing down.

Generally, past tense is best for fics like this where you're writing it as an omniscient narrator. Writing the action in present tense works better when one of the characters is narrating it as it actually happens. Either way, consistency is the key.

The only way I can describe is how it could be different is just having the errors fixed. Using "was" instead of "is", that sort of thing.
