Just for fun I opened the base Hermione file in GIMP and started seeing what could easily be edited. I knew I wanted a MILF so I need to do more editing that I anticipated. In the end I wound up redrawing almost everything but the arms. I'm using a mouse so most of the lines are rough. To be honest, I don't even mind it. After seeing the hell TrainerFan went through trying to get artists, I'll take shitty art like mine. Later, when the rest is finished, if a more talented artists wants to fix it, that's fine too. The goal is simply to get something finished and playable ASAP.

I spent the morning drawing facial expressions, using Akabur's as a guide. Mine look shitty, but at least they exist. At this point I almost have enough art assets to just start writing.

I want to reflect the choices of a player in the character's stats, so if you are playing a character like a retard, that will reflect in the character and he will turn into a retard.

I can't really think of any other way to reflect a player's choices in the character but to change appearance or stats, perks and the like.

Intelligence is used to calculate your base mana, raises chance of success on certain moves in combat as well as chance of critical hits to a degree and you need it for certain skills and it makes it easier to learn new skills.

Right, but those are just indications the person isn't smart, they are not what MAKES them become stupid in other ways.

The system isn't completely without merit but it just strikes me as the kind of mechanic people hate, unless you present the choices as being about forming what kind of character someone is playing as (like them just being a thing in CharGen/the tutorial for instance).

The goal is to have the player constantly shape his character through his actions. If you want to play a smart character, play him like he actually is smart. That's what I require in my P&P groups as well. Dumb characters don't get to have tons of brilliant ideas and if your character is particularly bright, that should show. Otherwise it'd just be numbers on a piece of paper only good for casting spells or so.
It's not like every option will result in lowered or raised stats either.
I just came up with an idea to have choices add or subtract points for certain stats and lowering that stat once a certain threshold is met. So you will only get punished if you continuously have your character act dumb, but stronger the more you do it.
I think that should make it a better system and allow more leeway.
