Blame zombie movies. The female zombies always got to me, even when I was younger. Then F.E.A.R. 2 happened and helped cement that idea of "she's going to show her affection by borderline killing you".

Part of it is the scary factor, part of it is just me being an utter nightmare fetishist. I could easily see myself in a zombie or monster scenario half killing the more violent creatures while fucking the more docile/cunning types. Besides, giving them seed allows them to spread. I think it's because I'm so detached from 'normalcy' that I find beauty in conventionally hideous things.

I think the Souls universe would be wonderful to be stuck in. Countless creatures to fuck, Plague of Gripes style. Just make more of the inhumane female in certain respects. Blight Town and those giant trolls? Giant cunts with matted bush of mud(...?) and dirt. Thieves near the sewers? If you can subdue one, you can enjoy. The hollows? Only way to tell the gender is to strip them down. Cumming could be a way to give something souls, so if you had a personal fucktoy, it might get stronger or bigger...and more keen to fuck you than fight since that would be a more reliable way to staunch it's eternal hunger. We get a lot of devils and demons in this thread, but what about angels?
Really old depictions of angels could be pretty freaky, with four faces, a circle of burning eyes floating behind them like a halo or generally just have a shit-load of eyes somewhere on their bodies, earthshaking voices and forms that could drive people insane or make them burst into flames unless they covered themselves with their own wings.
No wonder when they would introduce themselves they would start with "fear not".
I just like the idea of creatures that are supposed to be benevolent beings of light can still be terrifying eldritch horrors, being alien in either, or both, form and mind.

I don't know if it has anything to do with being a non-believer (and thus having a low view on things that are connected to religion) or not, but the idea of supposedly higher being being inhuman appeals to me for some reason.
For example, one of my favorite ideas for gods depicts them as being androgynous, if they even are at least vaguely humanoid, since if there would be some sort of god, it should transcend normal humanity and not be so easily recognizable by mere mortals.

But back to angels, I also like the idea because just because something looks scary that doesn't mean he/she/it is evil. If there is anything you can take from this thread, it's that people can love a monster.

I remember Bethesda's Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth and how easily frightened the character was. It's not that they're so scary that people go insane, but rather that Lovecraft's horrors are extradimensional creatures and therefore literally incomprehensible to 3 dimensional creatures and minds like humans. Have you ever seen videos of MRI slices that cycle between the layers? A lovecraftian horror would be the 4+ dimensional equivalent of this except in 3d space. Impossible warping of shapes that defy euclidean geometry, seemingly jumping in and out of existence at random. A person wouldn't be scared into insanity, but rather any attempt at understanding what you'd be seeing would be physically impossible.

I feel like you're not really grasping Lovecraft's vibe, especially in his later works. His entire mythos revolved around man's trying to cope with the knowledge of beings operating on a fundamentally higher scope than himself. Imagine what a grub might think if a person pulled back the rock it was hiding under. Everything that grub ever knew, its entire context and worldview was that tiny, dark, 2 dimensional realm under the rock. To have that veil suddenly pulled back by a being so absolutely immense and strong in comparison, that has lived longer than a thousand generations of grubs, that is motivated by reasoning so far beyond anything the grub could ever comprehend and could easily obliterate the grub's entire world without a second thought would be enough to make any grub lose its mind. Imagine that grub looking up at the sky, at the sun, out into a space infinitely larger than it had ever seen before, in a direction it had never even known existed, bathed in light and heat and sound so intense that was physically harmful to something as fragile as a grub. To be completely honest, I've lost track of who wrote what and whenever I talk about Lovecraft's work I'm actually refering to the mythos as a whole. My bad.
I understand that the point of humanity's adversaries is that they are incompehensibly alien or vast and complex. I've experienced similar horror in my life. My problem is that much of the Lovecraftian roster doesn't invoke such feelings. Alien cockroaches, fishpeople, a guy with a tentacle for a head and giant Flabbers may be threatening enough to scare you (invoke flight survival instict) but they are not stupendously incomprehensible and (perhaps even in the case of shoggoths shoggoths) could be countered effectively by the technology of the time. Plus as people we don't have to understand what's around us in order to function as a society. We use devices whose inner workings are a mystery to us daily just fine. We are able to casually engage in near-instant communication with anyone on the planet in his own language or tap into the knowledge of many generations of different people just as casually. The internet is a powerful and amazing thing that's hard to REALLY comprehend and yet we use it without problem.
I doubt people would go crazy at the sight of a shoggoth because of it's bizzare biology defying what we know. They'd just accept that it's a big fucking gello and be more troubled by the fact that it's trying to kill them.
What I'm trying to say is that I understand what Lovecraft is trying to invoke, and some of the things that are supposed to invoke those feelings doesn't.

And another thing. Humans have managed to spread across the entire planet and use their technology to overcome inhospitable climate. No other race in the mythos has managed that. Environmental change has been the bane of many alien races, all of which had to share the planet with one another.
If nothing else the Mythos stories are giving me a humanity fuck yeah feeling, because we thrive where all the vast and incomprehensible terrors can't. And with the pace our technology and society evolves compared to the Lovecraftian aliens, I wouldn't be surprised if the Mi-Go who regard us as eldritch adominations fear that we'll eventually become a prominent force in the universe and start de-Lovecraftifying it.

Brisela, formerly Bruna and Gisela, is a monstrous angel from the plane of Innistrad in Magic the Gathering.
