Pretty much all my commissions are lewd in a lot of ways, but with vanilla-side leanings, some of the most "intense" stuff I've gotten is just gangbang stuff with a few floating dicks, the rest is pretty evenly split between one-on-one stuff and pin-ups of one gal or another.

I've never really thought about it! I find lovey-dovey type commissions more difficult, because the facial expressions are more complex, but not so much that I mind!

That said, I definitely get tired of drawing sadism and dehumanisation a lot faster than I do stuff where everybody's enjoying themselves. Fortunately it's not something I get asked about too often.

I'm honestly baffled why you think you won't end up with a poll with one vote per character. I get what you're tying to do, but this is a bit of a retarded way of going about it.

What you should be doing is:

1. Take suggestions of hot characters
2. Open poll for people to vote who's the hottest
3. Announce you'll make a 3Dmodel of that character.
4. Open pay-what-you-want donations, anyone who donates 1-5 bucks gets high res images, 5-10 adds a turnaround video, 10+ adds a beautiful color work as a thanks.

The way you're doing it will have 0 interest and yo might as well just charge someone 100 bucks for the one ed sculpture and add in the original working file.

That or just ask for updates. I send my (return) clients sketches before they pay, then updates at various stages if they ask for 'em. Worst thing about sending updates is it slows the whole process down, but people can just take 3 or 4 jobs at once and juggle 'em like I do.

except I wouldn't charge an extra 10 for another character, only maybe an extra 5, buuut I wouldn't throw in 2 for the base price in the first place, so it kind of evens out

I know I should have prices on my sheet, but.. it's just not that simple. Unless I can just say stuff like "a lot of detail costs extra" and then leave the definition of detail vague.

In my opinion it's just good marketing. You can't expect absolutely everybody to remember your name from one post way up in the thread.

I don't see a problem with multiple going "I can do X" especially with examples that might not be so obvious from their price sheets.

It's up to the customer to decide who to go with but giving them more information and more choice isn't bad.

I think I definitely could do it justice. Pic related is a commission I made for these threads, and while it's not exactly the style you mentioned, it's close and I can adapt to the one you want.

No it does not. When you receive money in a specific currency, you have to convert it yourself and they have a conversion fee for it too, so you always lose a bit of money. That's different, though. Sending money to friends and family through PayPal bypasses the conversion fee. If you're buying things online and the currency required to buy it is different from your actual currency, you have to convert the amount first, then buy the thing. Unless I'm somehow mistaken... though in my experience, I have been forced to convert money (dollars to pounds) before being able to buy something (in pounds).

fanart gets more views, original characters helps with networking. Both pull in and draw different people. Original characters draw based on fetishes and have a high initial reaction with a huge dip. Fanart is a slow trickle for the most part unless it's a funny comic or something of the like but has continuous views that will show up for as long as the fandom is relevant. I still get favorites on Adventure Time work I did way back when the Lich King was introduced.

If it's that you only have SFW stuff my advice to you is not to get wrapped up in commissions until you've got some examples in the bank. Go hang around some draw threads, even if it's only doing sketches, it'll help you get a feel for how different drawing porn is.

Two bodies interacting in a sexual way is much harder to draw, limbs flying everywhere, foreshortening out the wazoo. It's also indicative of the actual commissions you might get, so you need to be happy to draw the kind of stuff in those threads from a technical standpoint as well as a personal one.

Yeah it's very different. Since a lot of characters are naked, there's no place to hide bad anatomy.
You might be asked for a gangbang scene for instance. Are you confident you could get 6 dudes dicks in a woman and have the guys in poses that work anatomically, keep the woman from being obscured, but not have it look broken? It's stuff you don't have to normally think about with SFW, you know?

Personally I charge $1 for every 150 words or $10 for 1500, but I've seen plenty of people who write on commission charge what you're asking for.

Delivery I got from Santystuff just recently. I like the guy's style, first guy I got from these threads back in August, still in regular contact with him to this day.

Whatever happened to one mythos, did the anons here swarm him with commissions resulting in his death?

For what it's worth, the two commissions I got from him both ended up taking a while before they got finished, three to four weeks for both as I recall, and I don't know if he was super-swarmed at the time, though I think for the month-long one he was, so...just hold out hope.

I commissioned a couple of drawings from him as well, and yeah, that seems about the length of time it took for me as well. A mix of other commissions and other things caused the delay, but he pulled through very nicely, so I wouldn't give up yet.

So I'll hold out hope he'll finish the other guys' stuff and get back to me eventually.

Sometimes I think that long-lasting commissions helps keep me from overcommissioning anyway, with the knowledge of "I will need to pay this eventually" keeping me from going to another artist or two when I have the spare funds.

Which reminds me, I wonder if Boxman's started on my sketch yet or not.
