Better Makeup is fine. Its makeup tints and things of similar nature like freckle overlays are usually fine to apply through Racemenu. Overlaying textures directly on the body is really best for darker, bolder things like tattoos to the best of my knowledge.

That being said, I still have to do this sort of thing with Harath and Cecile. Getpos/Setpos or screenshot pad become your best friend. I also try to find poses that fit together but weren't necessarily built for one another. It's not easy that's for sure.
