>>1112238 That's likely what Imerith would've done to her after he used her blood ( gotta keep that elder bloodline going). She never got fucked because she was constantly on the move and knew how to escape from virtually anyone.
>>1112238 Because the game was castrated. The festival on bald mountain? In the developer note's, it was a full blown orgy. Instead, we got the tamest folk fest ever (and our boss fight is accompanied by prude clothed succubi).
>>1112723 I could actually see this work in some inbred places of medival europe (OTOH there's a good chance some were afraid of you, because you were not from around the village), but not as a generalisation.
>>1112988 >I have to make a case that people hate(d) niggers on this site I'm not arguing with that, it's an obvious fact. Fact is, also, that there were places that were very well "connected" to the outside world and were much more forgiving to alien elements. Also, some almost nsfw Ciri.
>>1113006 Probably, but those were few and far inbetween.
People just didn't have the means to see an african (or vice versa). Some people in Italy/Southern Spain might have seen/heard of Moors (which are still far from "black") and a few venetian merchants might have seen an actual nubian in Egypt, but that's about it.
We're talking middle ages here. Even Turkey was predominantly greek. And the rest of europe was as white as a snowflake and spent the majority of their lives within 50km of their birthplace
Throw hardcore religion and superstition into the mix and you can bet that any black guy who made it to Europe against all odds would have regretted it in 99,9% of cases
>>1113045 >you can bet that any black guy who made it to Europe against all odds would have regretted it in 99,9% of cases
And this is where you go full retard. The assumption that Europeans were dirt farmers who were scared of anything that wasn't other dirt farmers and by extension would burn it/kill it/react harshly in any way is just completely taken from nothing. Nothing at all.
Most Europeans didn't get around, we know that, but the ones that did didn't freak the fuck out the first time they saw a Moor. They were probably intrigued, yeah, but it's not like they were reciting psalms at them thinking they were satan, that's just the age old myth of thinking people were retarded back in the day. They were but not like you think. People have always been highly practical, especially socially.
And beyond what we know about how travelling Europeans reacted to other ethnicities most of the time, which was favorably (with exceptions, of course, but there are exceptions today. The point is there are still retards today who act just like that. They're few and far between, but they're the sensational ones and thus the ones you hear about); we know how so-called "uncontacted peoples" react to meeting Westerns (or whatever it may be) for the first time. And the vast majority of the time it's with trepadation but also curiosity, because that's how people are actually like. It's in human nature. And yes I know very well about the few examples of lost tribes that will shoot arrows and throw spears at any helicopters or boats that come near, but even beyond the fact that these are in the vast minority, they can probably the chalked down to previous first contacts that went horribly wrong, which if you read up on the subject (I suggest reading about The Man of the Hole) you'd be surprised why it wasn't like this more often. But it isn't. And there's no reason to believe that medieval Europeans were somehow the exception to what is demonstrably human nature.
>>1113006 the only parts of europe that had any interaction with africans in general, let alone any from sub saharan africa, would be spain and sicily.
nappy headed sisilian rape babies and this thing called the reconquista where teutonic knights and the christian kingdoms of spain literally killed every moor they could find should tell you that in "connected" areas with geographic or maritime cross cultural interaction people would have a pretty poor opinion of niggers. which would never under any circumstances end up in the heart of central europe like poland or bohemia,
>>1112292 The books apparently make reference to some of the other schools of witchers having some female members, as well as elves. Though you are more than likely right or more than partially. I haven't read all of them and can't remember my sources.
>>1112276 Actually the fact that witchers don't have emotions is a myth that even the Witchers themselves believe. That's why in the books Geralt wonders if he actually loves yen and cares about ciri or is it all because of the magic (bond by a genie wish to yen and by the rule of the surprise with ciri)
>>1113366 Nah, she doesn't keep a spell up to look lile that. She's just practically sculpted herself to beauty through the use of, apparently, extremely painful magic.
Geralt in one of the books just simply deduces that she wasn't originally beautiful because he's seen the cold, hateful look she generally has in disfigured people, specifically hunchbacks.
Magic also gives sorcerers and sorceresses unnaturally long life in exchange for things like certain atrophied inner organs.
Triss, while naturally beautiful, has to keep on an illusion in at least one of the books because she's practically burnt to a crisp in the battle of Sodden Hill and regenerating most of your body through magic is taxing and takes an extremely long time.
>>1112238 because she is actually overpowered and once she masters her powers she could literally send them to a dimension entirely made up of lava, then proceed to break the whole facility into particles.
She is child of prophecy and has reality warping time manipulating powers nigger.
Seeing characters like that dominated just does not click with me because I know what they are capable of even though I like domination.
It's like seeing God Emperor of Mankind tied up and being rammed from behind with a face of anger and everything, when I know for a fact that he could blast that guy into warp if he just sneezed.
That's because Geralt himself is either really fucking old, or knows that he's going to live to be really fucking old. It's only ever possible for him to be happy with a sorceress, since they're the only women that will last as long as he will. He'd outlive all other human women. He could be with an elf, but he could never have children with her, so he probably doesn't see that as fair to any number of elf maidens. Better for the long lived infertile mutant to be with the long lived infertile mage.
And while we have no idea exactly how old Geralt is, we can always look to Vesemir, who was an active Witcher during 1112. That's 158 years prior to the first game, and doesn't factor in how long he was around prior to that. With Vesemir as a baseline, it's clear that Geralt will be around for a long ass time.
>>1112742 Yeah, it was not uncommon in European courts to have non-North-African Africans in their courts, especially when the Muslims started destroying all the Christian kingdoms in West-Africa and East-Africa.
>>1112912 You really don't know shit about medieval Europe do you? The witch hunting and burning people shite didn't really kick off until the Catholics and Protestants started squaring off against each other AFTER the medieval period.
>>1117191 >Of course, most of the Witcher plays in a Central/East-European setting. So yeah.
Nearly entirely, but there's that little background detail that the continent was "recently" colonized by humans, ousting the elves (which puts them in a role akin to the native americans), giving the whole thing a slightly different vibe, and IMHO doesn't make it that far fetched to find different humans than just Central/East-Europeans on the ports of the world.
>>1112249 >won't be able to give her fancy haircuts >won't be able to play dressup with armors on her >won't be able to smash thugs who threaten her Fuck, I want it so bad It wouldn't pass though, Witcherverse is a pretty grimdark high fantasy setting where rape is mentioned every 30 seconds, not even slav magic would stop the feminazis if it had a female protagonist
>>1117342 Dindus exist in this world though, in Zerrikania. Northern Kingdoms are clearly a slavic setting (in what I consider the original language version, that is Polish, it's extremely apparent), Nilfgaard is an allusion to Germany (though ironically in the books I always thought it was arabic-based). Skellige is obviously nordic inspired. We also don't know the full extent of Sapkowski's world. >>1113339 >The assumption that Europeans were dirt farmers who were scared of anything that wasn't other dirt farmers Are you fucking retarded? I live in Warsaw, Poland, and while you can see some blacks occasionally, most people still have an open dislike if not outright racism for them, simply because they don't deal with them frequently. People outside of big cities haven't seen one their entire life, and I don't think I need to tell you how they'd react. Now what you're saying is that in the dark ages, where people believed black cats were servants of satan, and burned women at the stake for witchcraft because they made herbal remedies, a thick-lipped and nosed, black skinned genuine African wouldn't cause a shitstorm? You're delusional.
>and beyond what we know about how travelling Europeans reacted to other ethnicities Which matters diddly fucking squat, because we also know what the reaction of the British colonizers was towards native Africans. Impure, inhuman, inferior, etc. There was also the time where they were put in the zoos in France, somewhere as far as, what, 19th century?
>>1119793 Hardly. Socially, Europe was far from being homogeneous. Foreigners (scholars, mercs, merchants), would be a far more common sight in a large, strategic settlement, not so much in a smaller, more isolated one. >>1119799 >Which matters diddly fucking squat, because we also know what the reaction of the British colonizers was towards native Africans. Impure, inhuman, inferior, etc More like ordinary douchebaggery. The settlers were ruthless mofos, that was for sure. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_massacre_of_1622 However, Brits in the 17 cent were not representatives of all Medieval Euros in terms of behavior. >There was also the time where they were put in the zoos in France, somewhere as far as, what, 19th century? Human zoos were (largely) a modern thing, and have little to do with the Medieval period: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_zoo Overall, how Medieval Europeans would have reacted to negros would depend on place, time and circumstances.
>>1120755 Word. Medieval people cannot be compared to people in the colonial era.
In medieval times some Africans were seen as good christian allies fighting against the muslim menace.
In the colonial era, the Europeans had (ironically) taken over the Arab muslim ideas of black inferiority.
>>1119799 You are FUCKING RETARDED. Learn some fucking history. Medieval people were scared of heretics, pagans, demons, dragons, undead monsters like vampires and revenants. The fear of witches didn't surface until the Reformation started. Witch trails happened in Protestant areas, and there were no Protestants in the medieval era. You fucking retard.
>>1112276 Geralt is a special snowflake who received a different trail of grass, it made him have pure white hair, altered some of his physical abilities and allowed him to have more emotions. have you never wondered why eskel was about his age (100 or so) and didn't look like a grimdark snow-white? Witcher's can have emotions, though it varies in capacity and strength, but Geralt is suggested as having a wonderfully wide array comparatively, suggesting the hallmark standard is pretty piss poor
>>1121264 Geralt didn't receieve a different trial of grasses, he took to the trial very well compared to others, so well that the witchers decided to further experiment with mutagens on him. That caused him to lose pigmentation in his hair, among other things.
>>1112517 The guy is a bit immature (he shouldn't of overreacted like that in my opinion), but his points are solid.
Why is there a "requirement" to have black people in every media? He's right, it's a story set in 15th century Bohemia, there were really no black people there at the time. Had he made a story about 15th century Italy, for example, that would be a problem, because Renaissance Italians were known for keeping black and Asian slaves (bet you didn't know that either).
American SJWs are always so fucking Americanocentric, shaking my hate. Story set in Medieval Bohemia? No, it should have the same ethnic markup as 21st century USA! Not even 21st century Czech Rep. or Poland, no, 21st century USA. Because the whole world need to be USA to fucking Amerifats.
Why is it about black people anyway? Why isn't anyone demanding there should be Asian or Indian or idk Native American people in Medieval Bohemia? "Diverse" seems to mean "insert random black people" for American SJWs.
If SJWs really wanted to tackle historical racist problems, they should've talked about the role of Roma (gypsies), because there were always huge ethnic tensions with Roma in the Eastern Europe region. But being Americanocentrically closeminded, SJWs don't know shit about that either.
>>1115506 Well considering the whole nonhuman business and how deeply imbedded sorcerers and the like are into the politics, it really doesn't do a very good job. It's just a generic fantasy world that happens to use the names of slavic gods for collectable powerups.
>>1121998 No one said that there were many black people in medieval Europe. You fucking retard.
There were however enough of them in major cities that artists made portraits of them etc. Mind you, these Africans were all either traders, mercenaries, or members of courts, so essentially, part of the "1%".
You wouldn't find any Africans on the rural hinterlands of England, but you would find some in say London.
CDPR said that Witcher 3 was the end of Geralt's story, didn't they?
If they make another Witcher that continues the timeline, Ciri would seem like a natural choice for the next protagonist. Unless they wanted to dabble in more open-world RPG stuff and made a create-your-own witcher for the protagonist.
>>1115498 >It's like seeing God Emperor of Mankind tied up and being rammed from behind with a face of anger and everything, when I know for a fact that he could blast that guy into warp if he just sneezed.
>>1112517 That argument makes no sense in Witcher, Sapkowski explicitly made Witcher completely ahistorical. Continent of Witcher was colonized by humans, and Elves are a metaphor for native americans, first polish tv series based on witcher (tho it was shit) even made them dress like Pueblos.
>>1147070 >That argument makes no sense in Witcher, Sapkowski explicitly made Witcher completely ahistorical. There's lots of historical references though and they're all described as Europeans. Even the Zerrikanians aren't said to look really swarthy like in the games.
>>1112517 You know, wearing shirt with "BASED" on it, describing YOURSELF might be the most cringeworthy thing anyone ever done. Like, just saying, if you guys didn't agree with him, that photo would be spotlight of every cringe thread.
Also guy in question is a complete fucking retard, "people of color" would include Jews (who were still mostly brown/tan in medieval times) and Gypsies (who even today look basically Indian) and also Tatars - all of the above groups were pretty prominent in Central Europe in medieval times, and it'd be relatively easy to find them in a bigger city in e.g. medieval Bohemia. So no, there weren't likely to be many blacks, but non-white people - very likely.
Guy's a cringeworthy retard, and that's sadly the end of the story and truth.
>>1147071 One of the very first things happening in the first book of the main cycle is a wizard lamenting pollution of a river causing an ecological disaster. Also they aren't SAID but honestly, when I was a wee fucking lad reading the Witcher books for the first time, I absolutely assumed they were supposed to be either Arabian or Black, leopard skins and sabers make it kind of clear. You don't need to ASSUME everyone's fair skinned until stated otherwise.
Also, racism against elves and dwarves is a big part in the books - would making them brown or asian looking REALLY hurt the world and stuff this badly? Going from 'racism metaphor' to 'racism'?
>>1147090 Look at the paintings of biblical scenes from early medieval times, you retard. Who do you think they were based on? Jews around Jesus' birth were very much brown as proven by genetic research, by 20th century they look white - do you think this shit happened overnight, especially in a community that separates itself from others as strongly as Jewish people?
>>1147092 >Also, racism against elves and dwarves is a big part in the books - would making them brown or asian looking REALLY hurt the world and stuff this badly? Going from 'racism metaphor' to 'racism'? Fuck off Lo-Pan you're not getting any Chinese girls with green eyes in the Witcher.
>>1147095 >Look at the paintings of biblical scenes from early medieval times, you retard. Who do you think they were based on? They look pretty white in there but this "the world is divided into melanin rich vs. melanin light" thing is retarded anyway.
>Jews around Jesus' birth were very much brown as proven by genetic research, Link it.
>>1147108 >i fucking love science >popular mechanics
Man that's some reputable peer reviewed scientific sources you got there, retard.
If you actually read the article you would find out that le science behind le multicultural dark skinned jesus is a forensic artist who picked up some random man's skull and concluded he was dark skinned because he feels like it. Truly stellar ethnography.
Why would people in that region look like charcoal black arabs when even today after the arab invasion many of them have light skin eyes and hair?
>>1148041 >If you actually read the article you would find out that le science behind le multicultural dark skinned jesus is a forensic artist who picked up some random man's skull and concluded he was dark skinned because he feels like it. Truly stellar ethnography. What are you talking about? Phrenology is a time honored scientific tradition.
>>1152977 Well, technically it's probably what you're dick was designed to do, scrap out other men's semen so you can deposit your own. Haven't you ever wondered why dick heads are the perfect shape for something like that?
>>1154864 I have. Geralt is significantly less powerful in the books, wikifag. Signs are only a little better than parlor tricks (axii is mostly just used to keep his horse from panicking near monsters), he'd be crazy to attempt to fight a dozen men at once, virtually any mage of mediocre power would wreck him one on one, and a higher vampire? Forget about it. Dead.
>>1158584 She is allergic to magic. It quite clearly states that in both the books and the game journals. Any magic that she applies to herself can cause a reaction, that is why she has that weird passing out thing in the opening scene of flotsam. This would also apply to any appearance altering magic.
>>1158603 Wrooong. She's allergic to ingesting magical potions. She can cast magic on herself just fine using enchanted amulets and such. She passes out in Flotsam because she overdrew, can happen to anyone depending on their capacity. It's how Yennefer died.
>>1158611 It does not specify which sort of magic she is allergic to at all, it simply says she's allergic. A simple barrier is not enough to put down a sorceress, especially not one like Triss who has shown to be capable of creating multiple teleportation portals in a short amount of time.
>>1158614 >It does not specify which sort of magic she is allergic to at all, it simply says she's allergic It specifically says she's allergic to potions. I can pull up the quote if you want. It may not make the distinction in the in-game journal you read and are passing off as book knowledge, but it absolutely does in Blood of Elves.
>A simple barrier is not enough to put down a sorceress, especially not one like Triss Until TW3 Triss was by far the weakest of the top tier sorceresses. She also had little warning or time to draw on power, so the deficit was met by her own life force. Finally, magic in the Witcher setting is never very consistent.
>>1158620 Well considering this thread is based on the video game interpretation of the characters you can fuck right off with the books. Oh and nice job cutting off a piece of what I said, I guess the part about her creating multiple portals (which according to the games and books takes a fuck ton of energy) wasn't convenient enough for you? Being the weakest out of a group of extremely powerful mages does in no way make her pathetic enough to use a three-person wide barrier, especially when you consider the Witchers themselves are able to create similarly powerful barriers around themselves.
>>1158614 They picked her up and laid her on a cloak. Geralt unstrapped the saddle-bags without a word, found a casket containing some magic elixirs, opened it and cursed. All the phials were identical and the mysterious signs on the seals meant nothing to him. “Which one, Triss?” “None of them,” she moaned, with both hands on her belly. “I can’t… I can’t take them.” “What? Why?” “I’m sensitised—” “You? A magician?” “I’m allergic!” she sobbed with helpless exasperation anddespairing anger. “I always have been! I can’t tolerate elixirs! I can treat others with them but can only treat myself with amulets.” “Where is the amulet?” “I don’t know.” She ground her teeth. “I must have left it in Kaer Morhen. Or lost it—” “Damn it. What are we going to do? Maybe you should cast a spell on yourself?” “I’ve tried. And this is the result. I can’t concentrate because of this cramp…” “Don’t cry.” “Easy for you to say!”
>>1158632 Portals vary in the intensity required. The multi jumps she does are all short hops. If we're only talking games, she barely manages the jump to Vergen and is out for ages. Meanwhile Assire var Anaheid jumps all the way from Nilfgaard to Loc Muinne. Granted, Triss didn't have the coordinates, but that just matters for whether or not she's going to be cut in half or teleport inside a rock.
> Being the weakest out of a group of extremely powerful mages does in no way make her pathetic enough to use a three-person wide barrier, especially when you consider the Witchers themselves are able to create similarly powerful barriers around themselves. Geralt can't turn an entire volley of arrows into butterflies, not withstand nearly that much fire. Plus gameplay and story are often segregated.
Now that you've been fully BTFO, stop pretending to know what you're talking about, and parenthetically defending your waifu, and just post porn.
Mind explaining to me why a shield would trigger her allergy (it doesn't, even Triss contradicts this immediately in Flotsam saying she drew on too much) but teleports or fireballs don't? I'm curious as to what fanfic explanation you'll come up with for it.
>>1158645 >>1158648 Right so I just went back and played that section in Flotsam in Russian, Italian, and German (the only languages I know). Only in the German dub does she mention the amount of energy it took, and also the journal entries are slightly different. Now I can only assume that the English version does that same. As such that would make what I said wrong, my bad.
>>1112723 You're a fucking retard. Before the Portuguese exploration of the African coast there was a wide belief that the further south you went the hotter it got and your skin would be burnt black. They literally thought it was a place filled with monsters
>>1152017 Pretty much this, and Blood and Wine is the culmination of it. He's not that bad of a mary sue though, especially considering his age and background. The stereotypical marysue is a young beautiful wunderkind that masters everything they touch. Geralt on the other hand is an old grizzled asshole that is only good at a few things and is shit at everything else. A few things Geralt sucks ass at: Smithing (kinda a big deal in the setting, compare it to skyrim uber mary sue) Economics - constantly gets fucked over in his job socialising - the man's practically autistic Magic - compared to Triss or Yen (actual Mary Sues) he is magically retarded.
In the Book, his combat ability is toned way down. Like he could only really handle fighting two or three guys at a time, and would surrender when he found himself surrounded or outmatched. whereas in the game he is constantly assaulting 50 man strong castles alone and whooping ass.
>>1168371 >I was told that Ciri's father (the Emperor) basically just wants her back so he can fuck her until she has a bunch of his children to be his new heirs. In the books yes. In the game he wants her so Morvran can fucker until she has a bunch of children.
>Did one of the good endings of the game have Geralt hand off the person he cares about most to be the sex slave of her own father? To Voorhis, anyway. The Empress ending is retarded and nonsensical, even if you only consider TW3's plot. Ciri and Emhyr didn't even have a relationship really. He left too early for her to even really remember him.
>>1168471 >From what remember in the "Last Wish". Ciri's father was a cursed Duke (Duny) who fell in love with the Princess of Cintra. >I think the Emperor is lying to Geralt about being her father. His motives in the book are to marry Ciri so he will have a rightful claim to Cintra and its people will join his side. You've only read the first book, so shut up. Duny IS Emhyr. This was a big tweest in the last book. Or second to last. Can't remember, it's been awhile.
>>1168472 >Magic - compared to Triss or Yen (actual Mary Sues) he is magically retarded. They're not Mary Sues. In the books Triss is a cowardly and weak willed mage and Yennefer is biological clock crazy and a bit batshit.
>>1117172 You don't know shit. People have been hunting witches for thousands of years, in Europe and outside it. The Lombard code of 643 "Let nobody presume to kill a foreign serving maid or female servant as a witch, for it is not possible, nor ought to be believed by Christian minds." If the Lombards had to make a law against burning foreign girls as witches in 643 I think it's pretty safe to assume A) people didn't trust foreigners, and liked to burn them at the stake. And B) burning witches was everyone's favorite pastime 700 years before the protestant reformation. The reason amatuer history channel historians think Witch hunting started around the time the protestants came on the scene is because the Protestant Reformation just happened to coincide with the invention of the printing press, and a massive upturn in the number of books being made, and thus more enduring evidence of witch hunting for us to find. But assuming witch hunting wasn't as important before that time would be like assuming exploration and sea travel wasn't going on before columbus.
