Why did people like this show besides crazy loli being crazy? I enjoyed it but it gets way too much praise, I got bored after around the first half. Also, the art is ugly as fuck most of the times except for some sakuga moments, and not in a "visceral ugly that fits the series perfectly" way.

This is the one I'llhave to disagree with, everyone but Tanya, the busty chick and a few other main characters had a mouth where you have your chin, and said mouth extended well past the eyes. I hated every second of those mouths. I won't mention Tanya's duck mouth because that could be intentional. Everything you listed above that I agree with but don't find it worthy or praise.
Everything you listed below it I strongly agree with, the Being X stuff was my favorite part of the show yet it was such a small part of it in the end. Tanya is a great MC, supporting cast is fine.

But that's still not enough for me, maybe I was expecting something way different after watching the first episode, I was expecting a season full of Tanya vs God and "I'm a japanese salaryman in a little girl's body" shenanigans and instead I got "muh war", "muh army strategy" plus tons of forgettable episodes.

The Manga looks fairly normal, but Carlo new if he was going to make it an anime people were going to molest the characters (or the main character).
I believe that the author was going to give Tanya a bad ending(i dont know what that is, nor can i confirm its going to be thats what i heard via rumors)
But I dont really like the story all that much, Tanya seems too OP. I feel like Being X is just toying with her.

A lot of fun historical references to, and concepts from world war 1, an era that's almost never explored in any medium. It's not only superficial either, theres some pretty obscure stuff in there. Half of it I picked up only thanks to having read multiple historical books about ww1, which means they actually put in some effort for real history nerds. And if it was only that I'd still watch it. Tanyas internal dialogue and the reaction the other characters have to her bizarre behavior are entertaining as hell.
