I'm an old greybeard fatburger, and I can tell you that many people in America grew up with taking showers and baths with their family members.

I used to shower with my mother and sister until I was about 7, at which point I demanded to be allowed to shower by myself, because I was a "man" now.

Whenever I stayed over at my grandparent's house, I would often bath with their youngest two children, my youngest uncle (who was 7 years older than me), and my youngest aunt (who was 5 years older than me). If my sister was also staying over, she'd bathe with us as well.

I'd say that typically, somewhere between 6 and 10, kids stop bathing with other people in America.

In America, we have really cheap, good water, so we don't have to "save" water to be polite or keep down the bills. And it's every child's dream to "grow up" so most are in a hurry to stop bathing with other people.

Even Europe isn't the same all around. Catholic countries tend to be more strict, banning stuff like public nudity or looking at nudist beaches with a fair amount of disbelief.
Other countries have no problem with being completely naked in saunas or during winter swimming.

"Over the air" broadcasts (even when it is also simulcast on cable) has different rules which come from and older time in America, where it was considered a general public annoyance to say certain "naughty" words in free broadcast media (TV and radio). Cable has less strict rules, and if the cable channel is more restricted than basic, then it has even fewer rules. Just how things have evolved legally over the years as broadcast technologies were integrated into American society. Each society of that time made up rules and laws to meet their public standards.
