I love Fukumoto's body of work but he's extremely bad at finishing series. Seems like he just gets tired, has a new idea and instead of seeing the one he's working on to the end he just decides to start the new idea before adding onto older ones. It ends up killing the pacing.

I always figured it was the depth of artistic ability. If you were to put something like Vagabond or Vinland Saga next to One Piece or Dragon Ball, it would be clear which one is more theme-heavy instead of plot-heavy.
