But yeah, Gintama's one of those shows that require at least one full season to be seen before it even STARTS. And eps1 & 2 are literal, no joke filler, that should be skipped.

it started off decent but got worse and worse as the jokes and new characters got stale. not even switching to serious mode with shounen battles left and right can save it now.

What I (thought I) clearly wrote was that the show got great, but AFTER episode ~300 or so, the downfall started. It's still bearable by all means IMO.
