Fucking hell even the cliffhangers get sillier with every new chapter. Does Ishida really expect us to think that no one is capable of saving Touka's ass right now because muh Arima parallels to part1? It's so painfully obvious that Ayato and possibly Kuro will swoop in to take on Suzuya.

Honestly no matter what Ishida does at that point he'll always be a hack. If he doesn't kill off Touka then the 4th "oh no Touka gonna die" cliffhanger in this arc was also utterly useless and shows that Ishida just wants to torture the readers by baiting the fan favourite's death.

If she actually dies then Ishida is still a fucking hack for shoehorning this terribly rushed romance including pregnancy and marriage in under 10 chapters only to use it as an indicator for shock value and suffering a couple chapters later.

The writing quality shot up expontentially in light of his absence during the Urie-centered chapters. And this is why many of us would like to see "edgy" Kaneki, no *any* archetype of Kaneki that is not as vapid as this one.

I would not even say it would "regress" Kaneki's "character." Just like the Black Goat's Egg protagonist, he is a "shapeless spawn." His "development" or "character" is as malleable as clay depending on the outside circumastances mold his new "adaptative" form. Kaneki even admits this about himself in chapter 76 regarding his indecisive, constantly changing, and weak nature.

Kuroneki was him living a lie planted by his mother, a philosophy which damaged him as well as made him reject his "ghoul" duality. Shironeki was him rejecting the lie and pretending to his new mother Rize in the process as well as Yamori - tossing away his "human" side for "ghoul." Haise was a complete roll back to Kuroneki, mommy issues included, afraid of his "ghoul" side accompanied with the loss of any characteristics of the "Don." Black Reaper was a self aware Shironeki, meaning he was now cognizant of the fact that everything he did as Shironeki was a subconscious attempt at killing himself, now especially since he "killed" Hide and the loneliness was gnawing him. Then Kaneki became Shironeki-lite/OEKaneki when he decided "I don't want to die any more...wait did I say that? lolno I mean I'll try to keep living to see if muh emptiness can be filled before I die for real." Then like Hide, Touka is presented to him as a "chain" to tie him down and keep living. A "place where he belongs." Touka has not developed his character, she is nothing more than glue desperately holding up a shattered shell of a main character: a band-aid fix. Killing her would not regress his character, only dispel the illusion of development.

What weirds me out is that less and less people have died, and the story seems to have gone drastically off the rails in a way I can't quite place.

Didn't teach me anything. Most of us already knew he was going to force the pairing one way or the other and came to terms with it. Only the execution caught us off guard. Killing off Touka is a entire new beast as it is something no one *actually* expects since he goes through fantastical lengths to avoid harming precious Talker. Kaneki and Touka becoming a pair, while some were in deliberate denial about it since it was so horridly written, was clearly going to happen one way or the other. Not this, though.

He baited me for the longest with the poem shit and the constant deathflags after the sex chapter, but now I finally see through this hack's deceit. I expect nothing of Ishida anymore. And if I keep my expectations this low, I can avoid the incessant lingering sensation of disappointment he has given me over the course of the last year.
