Whichever way you look at them, they're good adaptations AND good standalone movies.

The plots are decent condensations of the original story, all of the characters are faithful to their source counterparts, the action and choreography is good, the cinematography is decent at worst, and the music although repetitive, is very good.

There's not a single character or element that misses the of the original, like in Death Note.

There's no changes in the message or philosophy of the story, nor weird, unnecessary plot twists that go against the original, like in GitS or AoT

There's no disrespect, embarrassment or lack of familiarity towards the source material like DBZ:E

The worst you can say is that some secondary characters got cut down too much, or entirely, due to time constraints.
