The zombie is the worst genre, even more so than isekai. Isekai has been somewhat varried especially when NGNL, OverLord, re;Zero have come from it. Walking dead has long lost its touch where zombies hardly matter anymore and more of a plot nuisance. At least the redeemable isekai still incorporate the same things it established very early on.

I wish I could have fond memories of this series because up until Slut dies it was a very entertaining and "believable" manga. I can't remember when it first jumped the shark, but it was all downhill after the mall. Just the very concept of a zombie outbreak in Japan and the MC being one of the 500 people in Japan that has ever shot a weapon was enough to hook me in and forgive a lot of this manga's shortcomings, but not all of them.

Short answer: No

Long answer: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. It couldn't even save itself. Tits aside, It was every standard boring ass zombie story combined with every standard boring ass harem anime bullshit.

The characters where a mixed back ranging from okay to completely intolerable and it had nothing to say about the genre or even society. More to the point the fanservice only really provided tonal whiplash when the series still wanted you to take the threat of the undead serious.

Frankly in terms of zombie stories it was bottom of the barrel and Inazuma designs aside it wasn't even all that good as a fan service anime.

It also puts an inherent time limit on how long those goods are going to last. Eventually without new items being manufactured or current items being maintained you'll start to lose out on utilities and services and repairmen will become far more needed for things.

Nukes never stopped a protagonist from assembling a harem. Nukes are one of the easiest scenarios to write because you can drop a bomb and make the story whatever genre you want. Wild west survivalist? Isolated journey down a desolate highway? Mad max style stuff?

What killed zombie fiction was the same thing that eventually happened to Alien invasion stories and other popular apocalypse types, they got played out. Natural disaster films were very popular only a few years ago but after the 100th "world gets flooded" film people had enough. Zombies had been popular in fiction for decades and the same thing happened. It got played out; now only the Walking dead and a couple other properties remain as testament to that concept. And even that series is showing it's age because much like any extended apocalyptic work eventually it repeats itself.
