I have never connected so fundamentally with a manga, and I'm not even a climber (yet). Something about his struggle is just so compelling. I can't see why this manga isn't more popular, the average /a/ user should be able to empathize pretty heavily with Mori's feelings of isolation and alienation, physical ability notwithstanding. Easily my favorite manga.

Holyland also gives me similar vibes. Maybe it's the way they're both pretty grounded in reality.

>>161833050
Go to /fit/, read the sticky. Losing weight is all about calorie intake, it may be difficult but it's not impossible. Do what the other anon said, if you don't want a one-way ticket to snap city, try something less impactful, like in-water calisthenics, or the stairmaster/elliptical. I believe in you OP.

>>161835458
Oddly enough one thing that, while it didn't quite fill a niche, tingled the same bone as Holyland/KnH was Made In Abyss, and I say it's funny because it's all about the most fantastical adventures in a practically magical realm. It partly had the exploration and satisfaction of reaching somewhere no one else had before, while also having the infodump charm of Holyland and Jisatsutou. It's not nearly as introspective as either of them but it does fill you up for a bit. I suppose I'm also looking for a series that does the isolated protagonist very good as well.

I'm following MiA, I enjoy it a ton, but not for the same reasons as KnH. For me, MiA scratches that dungeon-diver/exploration itch, Dungeon Meshi as well.

I didn't know about Jisatsutou, how is it? Seems like it handles a lot of the same themes, albeit in an extraordinary environment.

I was thinking of picking up Historie, it seems right up there what with the historically-inspired protagonist. I also need to read Strongest Legend Kurosawa (somehow I haven't yet), I've heard that captures a lot of the same feels as well.
>>
>>161836091
Will definitely second this. Swimming is a really good way to burn calories and is super low-impact. If you live near a pool it can be a great option.

Even just pushing yourself to walk (especially up hills) can burn calories pretty well. If you keep at it you'll notice substantial stamina gains after even only a few weeks (but you should keep pushing yourself!)

All these excuses will keep you at 300lbs. Eat healthier, get more exercise and you'll drop weight guaranteed. It's not rocket science you just gotta man the fuck up and stop bitching. Also, don't expect immediate results. If you start now within a week you'll drop atleast 2-5 lbs depending on what you do. Your mountains will come later.

Get into grooming little girls for sex. You won't realize it at first, but you will naturally lose weight and become more healthy because subconsciously you will want to look better as a roll model for her. Also you will be spending time and working grooming her instead of thinking about eating.

They can be as strong as you want them to be by adjusting the dose. I would like to see you try 300mcgs of LSD and say it's weak.

That being said, if you want strong experiences, try DMT. If you are not impressed by it, I would suggest joining some Somali pirates to get your kicks.
>>
>>161843536
That sounds really gay. You can't deceive us calling them bros.
>>
>>161843633
I have done above 500mcgs of LSD and while it wasn't weak, it's the same as smaller doses where it's only the first few hours where it's hard to keep a grip on reality. You can't take in anything that's happening very well.

DMT's trip is too short. It's about as strong as what I would like but it doesn't last nearly long enough realistically.
>>
>>161843739
Ever heard of ayahuasca? It's basically DMT with a MAO-inhibitor. This allows it to be ingested orally, and it works for about 6 hours.
Can be reproduced with pure chemicals, because fuck drinking that potion that stinks like shit.
>>
>>161843739
Additionally, salvia might be up your alley. It's a dissociative that makes you lose your grip on reality and believe that whatever you thinking about is real. Like how I thought I was in a bus while sitting on the floor next to my bed.

Why they would run out of the tent in a huge hurry without even grabbing all of their gear (they were all experienced mountaineers), why they split up when they reached the tree line or how any of them got all of the injuries found on them. Also some were found wearing clothing belonging to others. Only a couple of them were drunk (the ones who built a fire under a large tree, found with their fingers rended of flesh from trying to climb it barehanded). etc etc etc

the local natives called the area the valley of death before the hikers died there (it was renamed after the leader of the group)

How do you get over your fear of heights? Just looking over the ledge on a 2nd story roof makes my palms sweat. I have no trouble flying or something, but having to stand or even look over the edge of something high up makes me feel scared.
>>
>>161850609
It is, though? You've just gotta be in the right mindset.
>>
>>161851018
For real? I'm pretty sure that mindset's an alien concept to me.

>I've gone three days straight without eating just for fun, grow some discipline.

You need motivation when you climb. Get a 11 year old niece that will scramble around the back of the rocks and will show you her tits when you get to the top.

You don't need spotters to boulder hard.

Good luck with the climbing thing.

Fitness is also one of the few things in life where you're absolutely guaranteed to reap rewards if you keep at it. There's no luck involved; it all depends on you.

I attempted to climb Fuji recently, and I'm a 240lb, 158cm midget, I managed. It was incredibly difficult, but pushing myself past my comfort gave a pretty liberating feeling once I reached the top. Saw a great scenery that was forever embedded in my mind. You just gotta try, anon.

That's why they should first starve themselves to an acceptable weight and only put on the muscle after.

>>161860194
Nah you want to start building muscle while you have all that extra bodyweight.

They need to start by walking on all fours to more evenly distribute their weight.

cut the bullshit, cardio is overrated all you need is change your diet. Stop drinking your calories you fat piece of shit no more soda pops for you! After that cut the carbs. No more Mac n' cheese, you hear me?! And don't even get me started on snack. Chew on a carrot if you need to have something in your mouth. It's easy you don't even have to lift a finger or go to bed hungry. Do you know how much veggies you can eat instead of a cheeseburger?? Of course you want do it because your weakness made you fat in the first place. If you really want to do just hit up the /fit/ sticker post it's all there

How is that an excuse? There's a reason they advice morbidly obese people to start by changing their diets and not by exercising.

t. retard.

back to /fit/ with your broscience.
>>
>>161860872
not even this. i don't exercise and live on a diet of rice, bacon, and sugary drinks yet still lost ~40 pounds once i became aware. all one really need to do is just to lower calorie intake. a person can survive weeks without food and hunger is merely a physiological trick. just drink as much as you can if you can't help filling your stomach with something.
>>
>>161861453
I've lost about 7kg just by doing the same thing too. Also trying to get my endurance up so I can climb Mt. Fuji next summer

Fair, a lot of stuff in Holyland is pure spectacle and overly dramatic, but it does have a certain element of real life that I can identify. All of the martial arts represented don't defy physics, the MC is very deliberately shown researching methods to counter particular martial arts (winning by the skin of his teeth most of the time), not to mention the psychology of proving yourself, challenging yourself, that unnameable drive that compels individuals to seek hardship in spite of a the possibility of living a safer, more secure life.

Holyland did get dumb at a lot of parts, like the fact that everyone looks like a straight 30 year old yakuza, or that cringe-tier final boss that could somehow perfectly slice beer bottles in half with his bare hands, like wtf.

Maybe someone could help me out here.
