It's a left over code of conduct from old Raildex Generals. Once upon a time, we were the only place to have nice, comfy discussion about Raildex. There were constant ship war threads, and we were a safe haven from it. You could discuss anything as long as you were decent about it. Any one wanting to delve further and read the novels was accepted with open arms, because new blood was always a good thing and there was so much to discuss.

As the popularity fell off and people moved on to other seasonal shows, all the shitposters ended up here, so it isn't as comfy as it used to be and people became less cordial towards each other due to constant shitposting grinding on people's nerves. That and the shitposters became more autistic and determined as the years went on. But even so, the custom of being nice to new blood remains. One, because they've done nothing wrong. And two, because conventional wisdom would have it that more people getting into the LNs and wanting to discuss things = more people to drown out shitposters = increased thread quality.

And it's fun seeing people get into the series for the first time. The fact that he was scared of Etzali stealing away Mikoto because he saw a meme picture edit is adorable.

Volume 1 was almost entirely comedy with a glimpse of plot near the end, volume 2 was when it started getting actually serious, taking the hint of plot from the first volume and fully developing it to the end. Volume 3 was a crazy ride from start to end that was almost confusing to read but started what seems to be the real plot of the series: The world is about to fucking end soon and only a few thousand people are going to be saved. Volume 4 translations have just begun.
But more importantly, semen demons and bro AIs.
