Mikoto Railguning a mech was my favorite parts of both the Poltergeist and Silent Party arcs.

She's not the main focus of the LN's. Touma is. A lot of other important characters aren't that revelant either. Her relevance mostly involves Touma, which is why it might have taken this long to buildup but it's still there. As for her relationship with Touma. While it hasn't changed on a romantic level it's definitely improved a lot since then. Especially since the last 3 or so novels(minus 18). He's been worrying about her a lot more lately. It was shown in their fights with Yuiitsu where he was more worried about her than himself, despite Yuiitsu almost killing him and preping for another attack. Or the few times in NT16 i think it was where he awas legit worrying about her in the heat and getting tricked with the water bottles. There are other examples but if we really go into all this the thread's just gonna go to shit again at some point. Point is, they're a lot more close than they were back then, despite him not having romantic feelings for her.

I know a lot of people don't like silent party but from a reviewers standpoint it outdid anything in not only Railgun but Index by a long shot. The character development and story progression are unmatched and the interaction between the characters is some of the best writing I've seen up until now in anime. Yea, you all might not like the characters themselves but that's really all you can complain about and that's just your opinion.

I'm being serious. At least Ice Boats was only a few episodes. Silent party was dragged for like 10 episodes or something. It had Mikoto being borderline retarded with the syringe thing. The loli did nothing for me, where we atleast got Itsuwa and Orsola in iceboats. Saten suddenly piloting a mech was so dumb and bad that it became hilarious.

Like, if iceboats was 8+ episodes I'd say it might have been just as bad maybe. But not even then I think, because atleast it kept true to universe mechanics. We got Mikoto railguning in the stratosphere, which was kinda cool, but then she got back down via Kuroko teleport, which directly contradicts how Kuroko's powers were established in both the source material and even in the earlier Railgun anime. Teleport conserves fucking momentum, as seen even in Season 1 of the Railgun anime. So even the 1 "cool" scene of the arc was dumb and inconsistent it's own animated (Nagai) narrative.

It was fucking bad anon.That's why we give Nagai shit. It could have been done so much better, even with the "power of friendship" thing they like to push. They could have animated the Railgun SS, which was in character, canon, had cool Mikoto moments, princess carrying Kuroko for Yurifags, plenty of fanservice with all the girls, etc. It was right there. Something similar happened in the novels with Shiage. He got access to a mech. But instead him just being naturally a perfect pilot, Kamachi took a different approach. There is something in the mech called a testament. It basically siphons information and puts it directly into the users head. So when Shiage got it, he was suddenly filled with the knowledge on how to pilot the mech. And when he got out, the information goes back to the testament. This is much less grating, because we didn't get Shiage just suddenly being perfect at something out of the blue for the sake of the plot, thus keeping suspension of belief intact. It's a handwave sure, but it doesn't come off too bad.

They could have easily done the same thing with Saten's situation. It would also go together well with what Nagai tries to push, that hardwork matters. Anyone would be able to pilot the mech, but it was Saten that took the initiative to actually do it because she wanted to make a difference, even if she's a powerless Level 0. It would highlight Saten's character and show that even the smalls actions can make a difference. That it doesn't matter if you aren't the best or have no special talents, that having the will to try anyway is what's important. It would further show she has grown since level upper. Saten's struggle is supposed to highlight the struggle of low levels, so her being ordinary at everything, yet still being able to help, is powerful. She's the potential of the average person that just wants to help.

I think the reason she felt her victory was hollow was because she felt she wasn't really fighting the "real" Kamijou Touma and that's why she says she can't beat him the way he is later on and not neccecarily because he was worn out. Which he was, im not denying that.
As a side note. I always find it weird how she's said that she doesn't want to kill him and is using her full power on him simply because she knows he can negate it but is still using stuff like the Iron sword on him when just one mistake could cost him his life. Instead, we got Saten piloting a mech perfectly because "She's just naturally good at it xD". Her having some natural talent that comes up at just the right time flies in the face of her own god damn character arc, let alone breaking immersion. What, are we supposed to believe that some 13 year old can even get their baring of something so complex, so fast? Fucking 16 year olds can barely even handle driving a car. It's literally Gundam shit.

This is why the Saten scene at the end of Railgun 1 was much better. She was able to do what she did BECAUSE she was a "powerless" level 0. All she did was use her bat and hit a computer, something anyone could do. But in that moment, she ended up saving one of the most powerful psychics in the world, and Judgement members. All because she refused to let "Level 0" define her and what she could do.

Shiage has defeated a Level 5 3 times, personally fucked up Crowley's plans and has blackmail on the system, and one of the only people who canonically is in a relationship.

Doesn't matter, excuses. The minute you try to bring up situation, you argument falls apart because Touma obviously fucking won and let her go. When you bring up "feelings" during the bridge scene, it applies to her losing to the scienefag. You literally lost because of you're own dumb logic.
