That doesn't even make sense since Amanchu was way more faithful to Amano's designs than Aria was. Unless they just don't like Amano's style anymore, it is a bit old school isn't it.

This. A scuba diving anime is much needed and would be highly appealing, but the pacing of Amanchu drags on to not feature enough of that. Main issue is really giving attention to more introduced characters rather than keeping it small with Teko, Pikari, and sensei on the diving training. It's a shame because I still love this anime but I really want more out of it rather than just what it had to promise.
