It was fun to watch for the most part but I enjoyed the first season a lot more than the second season. A little short and predictable but the action was great.

One of the greatest shows ever made by Gainax.

You can't just simply watch it as an entry series because it's a love letter to the mecha genre and the power scale is nonsensical, so the usual shonen power level autists (like multiple of them that follow Dragon Ball, Naruto, etc) can't really deal with something "silly" as this (because c'mon, to be able to accept something as STTGL chugging galaxies like shuriken you need to deal with your suspension of disbelief, something very few anime watchers can do)

Actually. After thinking about the ending, it was a pretty good way to end it.
The orignial team Gurren were old dogs by thr time the anti-spiral showed up. They were put in positions that really didn't do anything, they were warriors rather than politicians. So thematically it makes a certain amount of sense that they would play for all the marbles. Saving the kids was their way of passing on the torch from the old guard to the new guard.

I miss TTGL lads, cant believe it has been a decade already. All I can hope for is for it to receive the FLCL treatment and continue its story with sequels, even though that will never happen
