it was a combo attack. sasuke was in better condition, still had those good tomoe in his rinnegan and hadn't been getting his furry friend sucked for hours on end, he takes the lead in the fight. it's like when they did their enton: rasenshuriken and they balanced it out, not sasuke deciding that he needs to prove his superiority so he envelops the thing so it's 99% amaterasu and it explodes

They are too deliberate to be mere red herrings, they are written off with a Deus Ex Machina. However, it ends in such a note that Sarada thinks that there is no blood connection (but there is, even though it makes no sense).

In what way was there any potential to this story? The idea is so utterly generic, One piece alone did it like four or five times already, and that's not counting fillers. If anything I like this approach because for the first time I saw this being inverted with the kid actually being genetically related. This actually makes an interesting point on writing itself (of course I don't believe for a second Kishi actually aimed at it, he was just lazy as you said), because traditionally adopted child story moral is that genes don't matter, yet the only way it is always proven is by very specifically child not being related, whereas if they actually don't matter then Sarada's mother may as well be Sakura. There's nohing generic about it. Since we're hot off of shippudden destroying literally every core philosophy behind naruto it'd have been pretty neat to have a child who succeeds in spite of her genes instead of because of them. making Sarada more like sakura not because she's supposed to but because she chooses. It'd also make a better parallel between Boruto who seems spoiled by comparison to someone with such a chaotic family. It'd change the game but with the arc rendering itself pointless it changed nothing.

But this isn't inversion. it's aborting the entire point of the arc, rendering it pointless. Think of it like part one naruto Talent v hardwork argument. your retard logic would make it seem that going on a long spiel about how hardwork trumps talent then having the characters actually turn out to be reincarnations of ninja jesus with innate talent is good writing. it isn't. For that same reason you don't spend 10 chapters going on and on about how bonds>genes and then go "but genes are still what's ultimately important." that's bad writing. There was no need for the arc to happen since it built itself of genes<bonds then defeated itself in the end, the epitome of bad writing.

What do you mean not generic? There's been billions of stories about adopted child that learns that it's not physical relations that constitute a family. And I'm not saying it's good writing(only times Kishimoto wrote something good were Boruto movie and Zabuza arc) I'm saying that after all those countless times I saw this exact story unfold, this was a breath of fresh air to me and still made a point. I will concede that Sarada inheriting Sakura's chakra punching does hurt this moral, but I still find it important to make a point that if your only way to prove insignificance of something is to do the opposite of it then it only proves that point. That's like the inclusion of minorities in media, the core idea is that it all people are the same, yet for some reason only way to prove it is by specifically putting people of certain colors of sexual orientations.
