Before Misuzu was a character that was just slightly mischievous. Her teasing of Jun only worked because he was deliberately not thinking of her as a girl, and the worst she did for Tomo was convince her to not wear spats like literally every other girl in the school does. Carol and Tanabe both got duct tape put on their mouths, but back when Tanabe was still meant to be a character that existed she spoke frankly with him.

Misuzu's deviousness has been played up far too much. She isn't acting like the character that she has always been. Whenever she was malicious, it was pointed at those rapist delinquents, and it was for the sake of her friends. Everything she is doing now is for the sake of preserving a situation that she has full control of, for her own benefit. This arc is just her responding to the provocation of Carol from the previous arc, to remove Carol from the equation.
