Man, these endings are always abrupt, formulaic, and bad but I can't stop watching. The background stuff with the different factions is always more interesting. I thought Asagi already knew that he was the 4th Progenitor. She must be as dense as a brick.

Well this S2 did end with hanging a plot for a possible sequel, odds are low though same with a lot of LN adaptations, unless they're sure on making a new season but waiting for more source material.

Most LN shit doesn't even make it to a S2 let alone reach STB sales though. As it stands now we've had a 2 cour anime, OVAs and a s2 all of which has sold really well. I'm not saying it's guaranteed or anything but I definitely have hope for this getting a S3 than a lot of other LN based anime to get a S2.

That's the point, it already had it's time to shine, more seasons in, less the chances are, unless its a massive hit like Monogatari, SAO, Konosuba, Index(periodically fucked up).

Even tsunRie's ZnT, Shana and Hayate took a few years before their last season came.
Point is S3 and beyond, for LNs are a really rare case, and this a battle harem at that which makes it harder get another season.
DxD's only having more because the fans, studio and author are having a blast with it.
