It's not, it's complex and full of garbage but it's not nearly as large and all encompassing as others.

C++ is easy to master: just use the C libraries instead since they're not garbage bogged down in protected abstract virtual base pure virtual private destructors.

A computer is simply a machine with the ability to be an idiot a billion times per second. Any commands you give it have to be retard-proof by definition.

this is a very memorable quote, anon. you should coin it or something
>>
>>161481910
That makes them great QA, not great programmers. As QA, when they do something retarded the program should be able to handle it. As programmers, when they do something retarded someone else rewrites the whole thing later since it's easier than interpreting shit code.

You can never ``master C++'', every new standard iteration will just keep adding more garbages that don't play well with the previous garbages and you would have to figure which subset of sepples is safe to use from scratch again.
That's why no sepples implementation has builtin garbage collection: it would literally garbage collect itself.
>>
>>161481997
>adapting K&R instead of SICP

There really should be different names for programmers a-la "nurse" and "doctor". You can easily earn enough programming within a year to write apps and websites, but it will take ages to actually master the skill.

(((software engineer))) here. It's just a sugar coated title for a codemonkey, even if I make six figures.
>>
>>161481044
no it isn't. compared to what? it's one of the more challenging professions out there to learn.
>>
>>161482966
Getting the bits is easy, but if you can make sense of them and wrap them in a way that properly does what you want, then you are writing code.

No paper is written without references. I don't think it's fair to give shit to people doing Stack Overflow research, if they actually take time to understand what it is they are copying.

Personally, the advice I started to heed to is to not copy and paste code, but to type it out manually. Just that alone forces me to actually evaluate what the code does, and adds something to my knowledge.
>>
>>161483277
(((senior software engineer))) here. It's not, or at least shouldn't be. At 6 figures, I doubt you're really just a code monkey, since they can be picked up for under $50k.
>>
>>161483398

I decided to start learning C++ recently simply because I expect to need it in my final year at uni. The basics of the language are really nice and easy, the only difficult part I've found is just having to adapt to a new way of thinking about solving problems in the language. In Java it's just make a fucking object for everything cpp doesn't seem to use objects in the same way.

I wish Nene would come round my house and give me tutorials on how to make cute games.

Also why does Ahagon literally dress like Stallman?
>>
>>161485165
>cpp doesn't seem to use objects in the same way
learn STL
>>
>>161483315
Guess I'm a genius then, thanks for that.
>>
>>161485165
If you don't use objects in C++, you might as well be writing in C.

Though, to be fair, that is the case with a lot of modern projects. They use C++ instead of C simply because everyone else does as well.
Do yourself a massive favor and familiarize yourself with STL as >>161485198 said. It allows you to almost effortlessly implement any decent algorithm using fairly decently performing OO that blows away the hundreds upon hundreds of 13 year olds "implementing" said structures and algorithms by themselves peer reviewed by other clueless 13 year olds and Indians.

By the point when you actually truly have to give up vectors for actual arrays (and yes, they are much faster), you will have mastered C and used that, anyway.
>>
>>161485165
C++ is a bad language, and even simple things are complex compared to better languages.
>>
>>161485093

It's a combination of different things but quite possible.

It seems weird to americans, because US companies don't really plan for long-term training or retention of their employees, but it's more common in some other countries, like the apprenticeship model in switzelrand or germany.

Anyway, in japan, where many companies still aim to hire for life, it's quite common to hire a promising young worker and train them on the job, even more so because japanese universities are crap at teaching professional skills.

But it's actually also still a trend worldwide in the gaming industry, where a strong portfolio can get you hired even though you lack formal experience, be it as an artist or a programmer (in which case a finished homemade game is a valid portfolio, which makes Nene plausible too). It's a weird win-win for the parties involved because the newbie gets hired and the company can pay them like crap. It's even magnified by the high turnover in the industry due to burnout.
>>
>>161480975
Anybody with normal brainfunctions can learn to code if they are willing to. It is not fucking rocket sciense. If your job is to "do x and y, deadline next week" it does not require anything special.
