>not already owning the japanese blue ray
Kill yourself poorfag.
Just watched it for free in imax at Southampton because my friend works in odeon. Pretty damn good movie. Beautifully animated. Maybe a bit too melodramatic.
>>161471126
i thought it was because you were ugly
>watching that melodramatic trash in any format
>>161471227
Thanks Mark.
>>161471283
The good thing about being a handsome shutin is that you can get groceries without having to shower.
>norwich
>unironically living in a fucking bog
>>161471227
Nigger, that art board is from the limited edition Blu-ray box set.
>>161470977
why the fuck is imax so expensive, i thought odeons were meant to be cheap
Honestly, I think Imax would be worth it.
I'd love to see/hear thecometscene at that scale.
>>161470977
>needing IMAX for a subpar Chinese cartoon
Your Name is not some stunning directorial accomplishment. IMAX adds nothing to it.
>>161472996
That scene and the substation explosion made the cinema shake, it was awesome.
I spent too much on the Bluray sets as it is, and I watched the film in theaters 3 times already. Maybe I'll have another go for old time's sake if it comes to IMAX inCanuckland.
>norwich
>>161470977
>IMAX®
Is this really a meme?
>paying for chinese cartoons
Not even once.
>>161470977
>adult ticket
>for a children's cartoon
Shame is doesn't make it any less shit.
>>161471283
>paying for watching shitty flick
So I'm autistic and read the date for the november release for last year and thought that was the dates for the IMAX.
Only to find out that nearly everywhere aired it today and only a few places, mostly london, have any more subbed viewings.
Never been to london but trying to figure out a cheapish train ticket to head in, catch the movie and head home as i'm not really a big sight-seer and don't know what I'd do in London.
I think it might be showing in a few other places too so who knows, either way I'm looking at a suprise day trip some time this week.

Fucking AmiAmi didn't supply their limited editions with that A4 frame.
>>161476676
Yeah, sadly it was only Amazon-exclusive.
>>161470977
Not worth it unless it's real imax off 65mm film.
tfw missed it when it was in America
>>161476887
fucking amazon exclusives now they are sold out they're double the price
>>161470977
Because its not playing near me OP. The next imax anime theyre showing near me is in September, and its the Cowboy Bebop movie
>>161478034
If you're ever in or around Michigan, celebration cinemas will have it sometime in September.
>>161474973
Worth it, and still watching the film will be the highlight of your trip.
>>161471283
Savage.
>Going to the movies alone
heh. loser
>>161470977
>tfw have 4k headset
>tfw everyday feels like imax
>>161479097
Dang, I feel bad for not getting it then. I mean, paying an extra 5K for the A4 already sounded too much, and I personally just wanted the digipack more, but what's done is done.

>5 cemtimeters with a love dovey ending
I really do think that's the only reason people like it, because of the shitty lovey dovey ending.
>>161479476
I mean it's only the normal edition amazon exclusive that is sold out but yes paying 3-4K extra is such bs
>>161478034
>>161479206
I have strong desire to get this played on the USS Iowa.
Who knows if there is even an interest for that.
I'm not even sure if they take movie suggestions for their movie under the guns events.
>>161479853
It's a lot closer to places with the ending it actually needed, the girl not forgetting she loved the guy.
>recieve email about this being shown near me
>"Art House late night screening"
>mfw "Art House means 25~ seats and a 80" screen

>>161471126
The UK is expensive as fuck. Thanks socialism, I can't even justify spending the amount of money it takes to watch this.
>IMAX
>Anime
is there a bigger scam than this...?
>>161471365
Let me guess, you're some faggot from a Southern shithole?
Real talk. Why is this movie shilled so much on here?
>>161480942
Because it's fun. Because it's good. Because it got the widest US release of all anime in recent time. Because people wanted to share the feels after watching it. Because not everyone is a grumpy fuck like you.
>>161481402
Why are you so defensive?
Who's going to watch No game No Life Zero next October? I sure am excited about it.
saw it in IMAX months ago
it was worth it
>>161480942
Because keit ai found a way.
But really this movie wasn't very good at all.
The two got married before fucking right?
Fuck, they are going to show this trash in my shithole of the country
>>161482981
what does it matter if they are married or not they probably masturbated in the other's body tons before
>>161470977
Are you Amerifats only getting this in theaters now? The blue rays have already been on sale here for a while now in every major store.
>>161483355
Oh wow, did you live under a rock or just can't even open a pic?
>>161483355
it's a couple of limited IMAX screenings in the UK
also the BD's are only in japan but they come with english and chinese subs anyway
>>161470977
Watched it in IMAX last February when I was in Japan.
Also, Your Name. is the first 2D/hand-drawn animated movie to be shown in IMAX since Disney's Treasure Planet back in 2002.
>>161484768
both have CG
>>161485155
I know that.
But they were mostly hand-drawn overall, at least the characters.
Treasure Planet did have more CGI overall, I think one of the key visual styles there was to blend hand-drawn animation and CGI seamlessly. And it worked.
>>161485245
Tell me more about children's movies. You seem to be an expert.
>>161474973
Depends on the cinema. If it's Odeon Panton Street, don't bother. The screens are fucking tiny and the sound of awful for a cinema.
Looks like there are some showings in Leeds too and other places closer. They are also up Newcastle and I go there all the time so might be worth going just so I'm familiar with the area. I'm heading out of East-Anglia/Peterborough area, any places that you folk would reccommend?
>Watching Your Name
>>161470977
I can't get past the no singles policy at the cinema to watch it
>>161470977
I'd really love to but all theaters in my city have a strict no singles policy. Feels fucking bad man.
>>161489209
it's a great sleeping aid
>>161489372
>>161489503
hey now. This meme is not funny
>>161471126
Real IMAX is beautiful, absolutely worth $20. I saw Dunkirk in 70mm and even though I didn't like the movie the experience of watching a huge square frame with such clear picture is incomparable.
Kimi No Na Wa will likely mostly be projected in 4k or blown up onto a film print, either way it'll a a blurry mess.
>>161489372
>>161489503
Lucky that I have a really cute, quirky and fun gf who was really hyped to see this movie with me.
We watched it this April in the US.
>>161489688
According to Wikipedia, it's not showing in 70mm.
Also, I watched it in IMAX and the film looked surprisingly sharp for something animated in 1080p, the sound was also amazing.
The screen is huge, of course, but not like a 70mm screening.
I did watch Treasure Planet in IMAX 70mm (it was the first movie date with my first and current girlfriend when we were 14, and it was one of our most favorite animated Disney films of all time, we reunited just two years ago, it was also our first IMAX film) and it also looked really great and sharp. And the screen was really huge, much bigger than when I watched Your Name. and other IMAX digital films.
The audio is also really great there, especially whenever Jim is on a Solar Surfer.
Looking back to the IMAX 70mm version of Treasure Planet got me wishing that they screened Your Name. in IMAX 70mm.
Just imagine what it would've been like.

>Your Name
>in glorious IMAX®
not sure if better than Cinemark (pic related)
>when he first realizes the town was destroyed 3 years ago and she's dead
>when the twilight ends and the pen drops to the ground
>when she reads he wrote 'I love you' instead of his name on her
I'm not usually such a sucker for romance'feelz but this film really hit me.
>>161491983
I prefer the wider seating blocks in IMAX, feels less like staring down a tunnel than the average theater.
If you want image quality though the premium digital offerings in theaters are probably better than IMAX digital.
>>161492182
I had to hold back my tears when Mitsuha read the writing on her hand, that bit always gets me
>>161492182
>when she reads he wrote 'I love you' instead of his name on her
I fucking lost it on that scene. I dropped a couple of tears.
