Check out the prominence of hats in a lot of the costumes an the beret of the school uniforms or Sakura's sporty casual wear, plenty of the side charas hairstyles are super popular in the 90s like the little girl who fucks the teacher and the adults and teenage characters are cookie cutter 90s shoujo designs. The long haired mature beauty, the broad shouldered guy with short cropped hair, the soft eyed guy with glasses that has a gentle smile, Clamp and their contemporaries really liked these designs. But, it's just identifiable with a glance, doesn't mean its retarded or anything
