I wish more anime followed Ergo Proxy and tried to avoid fan service. The episode this comes from is as close as it ever got to it.

I like stand alone complex, but the fan service, crotch shots and all sorts detract from the story. I like outlaw star, but the hotspring and beach episode was just slap stick pandering to an audience that probably wasn't watching anyway. Space Dandy did it right where it has enough self awareness about itself to be used for proper comedic effect. I wonder if we'll ever see anime like this again... made in abyss probably.

Don't know what's triggered you so hard. I haven't said fan service anime is bad; just that it makes the anime medium very hard to take seriously if they're constantly pandering to an audience that really should just be watching hentai.

I like plot and I'm willing to wade through the gutters when it's good. But the anime industry has moved predominately towards fan service and loli that the good stuff is few and far between now.
