Is Parasyte worth reading/watching?

Its good but only the first half is worth watching.

For having recently reread the manga, even though the anime is a pretty good adaptation the original is vastly superior. There's a deeper sense of realism that the anime lack, and the very nature of the manga format just works a lot better, because it constantly invites you to stop and think about what you just read, something you can't really do in the anime format. Basically there is a ton of layers to it that you can't really appreciate in the adaptation. I highly recommend reading it first.

Well we don't necessarily mean by that that you need to watch both back to back. It depends from person to person, I usually give myself a gap of a few years before going through the adaptation, just so I can recall the overall plot but not every single subtlety, but beyond that as a personal opinion and from my own experience, I just really enjoy seeing how they handle the transition in format and the little changes here and there.

I mean we take anime adaptations for granted, but being able to experience a manga you enjoyed once again with added colors, animations, voices and music and everything, it's really something amazing.
